  1. http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?...forum&f=133 Everything you ever needed to know about the Satmap Active 10. Many pro's and many con's.
  2. Went out for a late walk at 20:00 and found 2. Glorious weather all day up north. Red sky at night . Got spooked in the woods though. Everything went a little Blair Witch. Im too old to be jumping at shadows!
  3. The bike mount for the forerunner 301 is very secure. Ive used mine in all kinds of conditions and had some bad off road falls and it has never come loose. The mount is permanently fixed to the bike and the unit clicks into it with the added security of fastening the wrist strap around the bars.
  4. I have a forerunner 301. The coords are shown if you mark your current position as a waypoint. It marks them as degrees, minutes and decimal, like N54'41.384' I've used mine for geocahing and it is as accurate as any of the high end machines. In fact it is more accurate than my Satmap active 10. I havnt had experience of the cycling versions of the forerunner though.
  5. Hey well done. People talk about finding thousands. Ive found 55 and always feel great when I get a new one. Todays cache was in driving horizontal snow with my 6 year old. Nothing keeps us indoors. Hardcore!
  6. Pendle hill Lots of people trek up Pendle Hill on halloween. The home of the Pendle witches. There is another cache not too far from the summit, Mist over Pendle. Might be a bit trick y in the dark though as the latter is quite close to the edge!
  7. compared to america,to which i have never been, i think you will find an awful lot of things close by. 2 hours radius from hexham gives you a lot of scope. coast to coast, scotland to yorkshire. enjoy your stay. hey, call in for a cuppa!( bishop auckland)
  8. i keep checking on a house im buying...just to think about what i can do with the garden, and that area seems to have lost definition, but my dads place down the road shows 2 of my cars parked up....off road...dead....boo hoo. one my trusty lada niva pig and the other my trusty pug 205 interceptor...although neither turned out to be too trusty as they both blew up
  9. its got to be the new version of google earth. its good but because i have such bad hand/eye coordination all i did was spin out of control! i tried to pick up the controls, flaps, rudder, thrust, laughing tackle, giggling stick, noooooooooo........crash..........burn!
  10. I use a 301 and it gets me there everytime. Like you said, no bells or whistles, but input the co-ords and follow the arrow. Weak signal under tree cover but then you just have to look a search a little harder. Im waiting for the satmap active ten to be released though. I'll have to raid my piggy bank for that one!
  11. I use a Forerunner 301. Its as basic as you can get. Put in the co-ords and follow the arrow. Works perfectly. I was going to upgrade to a 60 csx but was a bit dissapointed with the mapping. Im looking into the satmap active 10 now with full ordnance survey mapping (in the uk). I think its the gizmo ive been waiting for.
  12. Just a grumble. The cheapest UK/EU basemap garmin 60csx i have found is £372. The cheapest US version seems to be about $330, around half as much. Another fine example of rip off Britain.
