  1. Our CITO event started as a Pancake breakfast so all the cachers could chat, exchange stories, geocoins, etc. Afterwards, we were divited up into four teams and sent to 4 locations where new caches were hidden (although not posted on geocaching.com yet) Once there, we searched for the cache, then as a team cleaned up the area where we were. We were awarded 10 points for each black garbage bag filled. Once the whole team agreed that the area was clean enough, we were allowed to move onto the other 3 remaining cache areas to find the caches. There was also a way of earning other bonus points by finding little wires with your team's colour on a nail on a tree near the cache site. After the time limit (2 hours) was up, we met at a park for a tailgate party and to calculate which team had the most points. Between the 4 teams we cleaned up 4 of the dirtiest areas in our city and cleared 68 black garbage bags, and many larger items that didn't fit in the bags such as scrap metal, tires, etc. (GCB3J0) Belly Full of Flap Jacks CITO Race All the pictures can be found here.... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...6a-3c32c046662a
  2. 1. Having my car stolen while I'm at the cache location. (I have an immobilizer now to prevent that ) 2. Getting lost in the bush. 3. Not finding the cache Being in Canada, we don't have the same threat of poisonous snakes, and I dont live or cache far enough in the country to worry about bears. No one mentionned this, but my favourite part of geocaching (aside from finding the caches) is telling inquisitive muggles all sorts of stories and watching them totally eat it up. Poor poor gullable muggles!! HAHAHA...lol.
  3. I am a 21 year old female university student, and my female friend of the same age is just as crazy about GC as me. We are out almost every weekend and sometimes on lunch breaks during the week if we notice a new cache and want to try for FTF. I have the oposite problem from most people...i can't get my boyfriend to go out with me...lol. But I do think there are a lot of female geocachers...at least in my area anyway.
  4. I had the exact same problem and I fixed it this morning. If there are no COM port options in the drop down menu in easyGPS, you have to go into your BIOS and enable them. Took me all of a minute, then everything worked fine and I downloaded the waypoints with no problem! Hope that helps!
  5. I got a Garmin eTrex Legend and I didn't need to download any drivers, I only had to enable the COM ports in my BIOS. Man do I feel like a dork now. Thanks for your help though!
  6. FIXED IT!! I had to go and enable the COM ports in the BIOS. Thanks everyone for your help!
  7. I didn't get any CD ROM's with drivers with my GPSr. HELP! (btw, i'm having the same problem where easyGPS isn't recognizing my GPSr is connected)
  8. I recieved the Garmin eTrex Legend for my birthday. I had been borrowing my uncle's GPSr (same make and model) but someone downloaded the waypoints for me. That person is no longer available (plus I was to be able to do it myself). I have downlaoded easyGPS, GSAK, eTrex Legend web updator, and all of those programs can't find my GPSr connected to the computer. I have the serial port adapter, the GPSr is on and in Garmin mode in the interface setup. I can't call Garmin til monday because of the holiday and weekend. Can anyone help me as to why my computer can't recognize my GPSr? Thx MB Country Girl sarah_jane84@hotmail.com

  10. kind of off topic, but i noticed you are using the same gps as me. I cannot get it to show me the correct locations. did you ever have that problem?
  11. Hello All! I have just begun my geocaching career and have borrowed my uncle's GPS unit. I am having a horrible time trying to figure out how it works. Coordinates off the geocaching.com website point me to the right place when I enter them into Google Earth, but put me HOURS away if I enter them into my GPS unit. (ex, a cache I found and know to be at the north end of the city puts me 1 1/2 hours to the south if I enter it into the GPS) Does anyone know what's going on with my GPS? Is there a setting I need to change? Help is greatly appreciated. Sarah-Jane sarah_jane84@hotmail.com
