  1. Now, now.....let's not treat the Mods as stupid. And for the sake of disclosure, I referred UOTrackers to the thread pinned at the top of these forums - lest anybody think that I'm playing favorites.
  2. Please note that this is not an ordering thread. As the track-ability of this coin has not yet been decided, please refrain from posting your intentions to purchase. Now, if "Count me in for 2" and posts of this type are meant to be trade offers, please disregard the lump of spaghetti with eyes on your left. If not, however please keep discussions around either trades or the design of the coin. Thank you. - FSM
  3. For the sake of clarity: When posting links to coins for sale, please post a link directly to the coin sale and not the home page of the manufacturer/seller. This will help avoid confusion about it being a commercial post to promote the site in general. See how helpful we can be? Your friendly neighborhood FSM.
  4. <Merged two similar threads together to keep discussions in one thread> -FSM
  5. Please refrain from personal attacks. From the guidelines: "Personal Attacks and Flames will not be tolerated. If you want to praise or criticize, give examples as to why it is good or bad, general attacks on a person or idea will not be tolerated." You are free to express your opinion, but please do so within the confines of the guidelines. - FSM
  6. Yes, please do not open new threads for trades. Use the pinned thread at the top. Thank you. - FSM
  7. NSLP - yes, this is being looked at and discussed. Sorry, have to wade through a lot of BS right now.
  8. ChileHead - I'd suggest that you post that question in the General Geocaching thread for an answer from TPTB there. Some of us hubmle folk here are just responsible for the coins.
  9. From the guidleines: Non-trackable coins may be posted for trade by individual coin owners. The way I read your post you are fine to produce your coin and post it here for trading. Non-trackable coins cannot be sold here, but trading is still ok and welcomed. Hugh Jazz - it was just posted this morning - give us some time please. While it may seem like we are all here all the time, were' not. Thanks, - FSM
  10. Are you calling me ugly? Please play nice folks.
  11. I think you know the answers here. No need to try and find loophoels in the wording as the intent of the guidleines are clear.
  12. Ok gang, one final time. This thread is for Q&A only. Please limit your comments and opinions accordingly. It's hard for folks to actually look for questions and answers amongst all the other commentary. Should you feel the need to express your opinions, etc. please open a new thread. - FSM Edit: Added after ChileHead's post. Not directed directly at ChileHead.
  13. Hula Bum and SilverMarc - please take any more back and forth offline and keep this discussion on topic for Q & A on the new policy. - FSM
  14. No, this is not true. Approvals are needed only for trackable coins. You are free to post your personal coin for trade here without needing to get approval on the design. I think somebody went off on a tangent there. Be sure to check the guidelines before taking what anybody says here as accurate. There's some heated discussion and nobody should act (or react) to mis-information. Knowledge is power; be strong! - FSM "Non-trackable coins may be posted for trade by individual coin owners." Edit: Man, he's quick!
  15. You are correct. This forum may be used for selling, trading or giving away of geocoins which are trackable on Geocaching.com. This includes any trackable coin produced by an individual, business or geocaching organization. Non-trackable coins may be posted for trade by individual coin owners. The proceeds from a permitted coin sale can be used for any purpose, such as personal profit, support of a geocaching organization, or to benefit a charitable cause. And Cornerstone brings up a good point. We're talking about coins here. Let's not forget the big picture that we recently lost one of our own. Let's remember what's really important. When we've asked for time to "let the dust settle" it doesn't mean we're skirting the issue and hoping for it to go away. It means that we'd like time for everybody to think about this before making knee-jerk reactions and acting upon things that have JUST been put forth. P.S. Good luck catching me with that pitchfork. Spaghetti and forks don't always play nice together! Edit: typos.
  16. From above: 3. To answer several questions about non-trackable geocoins that are already in process, we recognize that the owners of these coins were relying on the ability to publicize their coins in this forum. So, if you have a non-trackable geocoin that has already been produced, it is OK to offer it for sale here. To help our moderators, please state in your post that your coin series was produced prior to the announcement of the new forum guidelines. Note that abuse of this allowance will not be tolerated. You're covered. Edit: CO ADMIN beat me to it. And a few other posts have come in as this thread is moving quickly. I'll leave this here as it bears repeating and we want to make sure that everybody is aware of this.
  17. wavector - thank you for treading lightly while things get clarified. To expeite getting an answer to your question: ""Can I post a link to a site where my GC.com trackable coin can be bought?" please send an email to the address listed in this portion of the guidelines. Links to other commercial coin selling, coin tracking, coin trading and coin manufacturing web sites will be permitted only with permission from Groundspeak. Permission requests may be sent to bizdev (at) Groundspeak.com. ANd again, thanks for your patience while we try to make things clear for everybody. - FSM
  18. Thanks for the warm welcome gang. Eartha has done a great job and will continue to do so. But, as noted, Eartha only has two 'eyes' and this forum has grown explosively much like the geocoin craze itself has. Thus, another set of eyes was deemed neccessary. Hopefully you will see very little of me. WHY? A good moderator is like a good referee at a sporting event. They are there to make the needed call but otherwise are somewhat invisible. Hugs available by appointment. Wear a bib.
