  1. This came from a cache owner of a cache that I logged a while back and really never knew how to take it. The item that I took was from a "dollar store" and I know this because it still had the tag on. I felt that the item I traded was fair. Any thoughts?

    The email read as follows:

"I am sending you this note just for your information. I realize you are relatively new to geocaching so please don't take this negatively. When I started, I did not really understand this until later. One of the unwritten codes of trading is to exchange things of equal value. Granted it is not written in stone and some cachers really don't care but many do. Thus a _________ is essentially of very little value and not really worthy as trade material.

A simply way around this is to just log your visit. I used to write TNLNSL = took nothing, left nothing, signed log. But really who really cares. Or T:Ball L:Bird SL.

As a cache owner I am interested in the condition of the cache and any problem associated with getting to it. See you on the trail. "

  2. I have got mine on a mount that is sitting in my cup holder way below the dash-board and not really in view of the windshield at all and it gets/keep sat lock no problem. My unit is functioning better than my old 76S.

Now I have not had a chance to try it in the rain though. I do know that my 76S loved the rain... my 76S knew where we were at when I couldnt see 10 feet in front of me during a texas sized down pour.

  3. Good point... thought that would work... tried restarting but I still get the "Found New Hardware Wizard" popping up when I turn the unit on. So, I put the Trip & Waypoint CD back in and the Hardware Wizard found it and did its little install. Works now and version 3.30 looks to be operating great.

  4. Got my 76CS in this afternoon... what a wonderful unit!!! Looks to be just like the 60CS to me too except for memory of course. Does the 60CS have the serial port too?

Anyone upload software version 3.30 to a 76CS unit yet? I was going to but when I turned the GPS on Windows XP wanted to do a software install. Not sure if it was looking for USB drivers or not??? I do have the Mapsource Trip & Waypoint Manager loaded and I thought that is what loaded the USB drivers. Any thoughts?

  5. May 20, 2004 - 7:10 am - On FedEx vehicle for delivery.

Hurry up FedEx!!! I have been jumping up to look out the window everytime I hear a vehicle go by. I have my new NiMH batteries all charged up and ready to drop in as soon as it gets here. Then its off to a cache that I have been waiting THREE MONTHS to log.

Glad to hear they put that geocache feature in there... not sure how useful it will turn out to be but you can never have too many bells and whistles :)

  6. I live in Texas and being that it is such a big state I decided to go with the 76CS for the extra memory. I also liked the fact that the unit comes with an auto-routable basemap. I must admit that I do like the way the 60CS looks. I am wondering though... since the 76CS is a bigger unit, could the antenna be larger than that in the 60CS??? This could mean a better satellite fix.
