  1. The new additions (filters) today are great. Thanks for all the work and for listening to our suggestions.
  2. I failed to mention in my previous post, that I like the new pages. I had to scroll a ton on the old MY cache page to get past my found bugs. (700+). I also like that it shows which TB I"m holding and which ones I've held for too long One more thing I noticed as I've been using the page this evening. If I'm on a cache page and click the "Watch this cache" button (either to add or to remove a watch), it still takes me to the old watch page. Didn't know if that wasn't hooked up yet, or was an oversight. And on another side note, I'm not letting my wife see the calendar view with the underlined dates showing all the logs.... I think she'd take away my Jeep keys if she realized how many days a month I cache.
  3. Small bug... I didn't see it listed here yet, so if it has already been mentioned, sorry for bringing it up again. There is no icon for Geocoins on the watch lists.
  4. I updated my list to show both. Still sorting by the "found" in the searches, but its easy to see either now. Travel Bug Stats page
  5. I guess it all comes down to the definition of "find". Does it mean "grab"? (It does now). But originally it didn't. The "notes" could have just as easily been a log to Grab and another to Place in any given cache. But before the redesign of the bug pages, you had to do that one at a time...creating a lot of traffic on the site for each extra note per bug. Its always easy to look back and say... "You should have done it different." As more cachers play, the rules get refined. So we live with the change and move on.

    Bug Stats

I saw multiple cacher's bug-find counts go down today. Can I assume that the threads about a code change on Jan 16th dealing with Notes not counting toward Finds has now be implemented across the site? Here are the threads I'm referring to. Travel Bugs You've Found - Disappearing.... and this one Note vs a Find
  7. I've had both of these national park bugs. National Park Tourist National Park Bug
  8. Interesting idea. As an owner I've always wanted to be able to see who was watching my bugs (and my caches for that matter). This won't totally solve that since I watch some bugs I haven't had yet. But it would at least give you an idea of who had the bug and was still watching it. I also assume that an icon like that would be easier to implement then a whole separate "who's watching" page. I give the idea a Thumbs-up. (in case anyone is counting)
  9. For a while on the Travelbug page there was a side bar that listed the bugs that had traveled the farthest. Then, of course, there were people who wanted to see a bug on the list and they'd send it to africa, or Saudia Arabia and back, and then to Australia and back... but the bugs hadn't actually gone.... so then it was changed so that the list showed the bugs who had been seen by the most cachers. With the TravelBug recoding that list is gone too. Only thing it shows now is what was the last ones logged. All part of the progression of the geocaching site.
  10. I expect "showing" will become a lot less popular now that "notes" don't count as finds. You have to actually grab the bug for it to count.
  11. Here is an Ugly Tie TB that was made into a TB. If you find it you got to wear it. The Ugly tie came from a cache that was a game to have geocachers leave their ugliest tie. The TB owner won, and took his winning tie and made it a TB to share the pain.
  12. The Scorpion King is a cool bug. There are several all out by the same Cacher. He makes them in his spare time out of copper wire. Here is another one.
  13. Today Centris found her 1000th travelbug. (Travel Bugs and Coins) She is the first geocacher to find that many.... and that is a log of travelbugs. Congratulations Centris on 1000!
  14. I've posted this before. But I'd like to see the travelbugs found list done like the found caches list. The bugs I'm currently holding are the ones displayed on the "my cache" page. And there is a link below them to "show all bugs I've found". Having found over 500 Travel bugs "my cache" page is very long.
  15. I've seen it done once. Don't know how they did it. But last spring I found a travelbug from a cacher in Texas. Then this fall I found a totally different bug from a cacher here in Utah with the exact same tag number. (I keep a spreadsheet with all the TB numbers). Both cachers are still active, and for all intents and purposes the TB number changed hands....in fact the old Travelbug disappeared from my list of found bugs to be replaced by the new one. I sent an email, but never got a reply.... but somehow they did it.
  16. I've had several owners thank me for helping their bugs along... even if it wasn't to their ultimate objective. I've also seen a lot of bugs lately that just want to wander around from cache to cache. I think there are a lot of people just happy to see them move. Travelbugs get lost, caches get plundered, its all part of dealing with the forces of chaos.
  17. I fixed the link.... stupid cut/copy/paste monkey who taught this guy to type...
  18. I know there are people who like to see stats and those who don't like stats. I hope this doesn't turn into another thread on that subject. For those who do like them. How many travel bugs have you found? I have a webpage Bug Collectors Page where I keep track of whom I believe are the top bug collectors out there. But my top 10 list has come from word of month and from some previous discussion here about who had the most TBs found. So my question to all the cachers out there who watch the Travel Bug forums: Do you know of any other cachers with over 400 bugs found who aren't on the list?
  19. I'm found 9 of the 2003 geocoins and one Mout10Bike coin as well as several of the candian geocoins (which aren't tracked like Travelbugs on this site). Always fun to find a coin. Most people put them in a plastic case to keep them nice. I think I've only seen 2 that weren't done that way. Haven't seen any of the new 2004 coins yet.
  20. There is a cahcer around here who is doing that too. I think it a great idea, and the bugs he has tagged seem to be making better headway toward their goals.
  21. There is a cacher out here who creates little mission sheets from the bug page for bugs without them, laminates them and adds them to the the bug. It a nice touch along the same lines a bagging them. He just wants to help them along their way toward their goal.
  22. A lot depends on where there cache is, and how many active cachers there are nearby. I have some caches that go weeks without anyone visiting.. .and I have a couple that get hit daily. So travelbugs in the one sit...in the other move quickly. Urban caches seem to move bugs much more quickly... epecially now that winter is coming. JeeperDad (on my way to another drive-by cache)
  23. I think that is a great idea. You could have the Travelbugs work like the caches on the "My Cache Page". The bugs you currently are holding would be on that page under the Title "Travelbugs you currently are holding" and all the TBs you've had in the past won't be there unless you clicked a link like (Show all Travelbugs). So it would work like your Logged caches currently do. I know that would sure make "My Cache page", shorter. JeeperDad (on my way to another drive-by cache)
  24. Come on out to Utah. We have tons of caches and cachers with jeeps and Fall is the best time to be here. JeeperDad (on my way to another drive-by cache)
  25. 14. You Plan family vacations based on locations with the most caches per square mile. 15. Your kids groan when you say "Just one little quick stop. This will only take a minute or two to find." JeeperDad (on my way to another drive-by cache)
