  1. I had contacted Grundy Lake Provincial Park and they said that they don't have polices against it. They park doesn't do there own geocaches. I would suggest contacting the park that you are staying to see if they have restrictions.
  2. I ended up the buying the Magellan Explorist 310 from Canadian Tire. I'm very impressed with it, as it does handle Paperless Geocaching which does come in handy. If you are in a close location to a Canadian tire you can get them on sale.
  3. Thanks for the replies you really helped me pick the GPS Adam
  4. I'm a new to geocaching. I was looking to buying my first GPS, I'm looking at the Magellan Explorist 310 (http://bit.ly/15P50Hs)from Canadian Tire. I had a few questions: Is it ready to geocache right out of the box? Is a good unit to use? Will i have to buy anything extra to use it for geocaching? Thanks, Adam
  5. Were you able to update maps? What model did you have.
  6. I believe i am going to go with the Garmin Etrex 20. Is it similar to the 30?
  7. Thanks for the response! Are your able to update the maps on the GPS? I was told that you can not or does that depend on the model? (see quote above). I don't know about the Garmins but as for the Magellans the eXplorist 310 and higher model numbers you are able to upload custom maps in to it. You can't upload custom maps to the eXplorist GC and eXplorist 110 but the maps are updateable via future firmware update. Thanks for letting me know that i might choose to go to Magellan. Because of the touch screen. How important is a GPS with up loadable maps?

  12. Hi All I am looking into buying a GPS I am looking at the Magellan eXplorist GC GPS and Compass from Canadian Tire. It is priced at 174.99. It says that it is designed for Geocaching. I really do not know what kind it the best. I would like something that i can grow into something that I could keep for a long time and get my money's worth out of it. What do you recommend for a beginner geocacher? Does anyone have any of the garmin etrex series? How are they and would you recommend them? Here is the link to the CT website where the GPS is located. Magellan eXplorist GC GPS and Compass Here is a link to the picture of the GPS i am looking at.
