"C" (color) models are SirfIII (H20 C, Expedition C, Hunt C). The black and white models are SirfII, although I *think* the Go models might also be SirfIII. Maybe someone can confirm that last part. Additionally, there are a multitude of bluetooth, mouse, and flash card 'dummy' (i.e., they transmit NMEA data only -- no screens) receivers that are SirfIII enabled. You can hook 'em up to your laptop or PDA. The chipset for these are usually clearly identified in the detailed specifications. What about the Lowrance plotters (like GM3600c iGPS)? Would be nice to know since I'm using one on my sailing boat. /Peter

Um, what's "mac osx86"? There's a Mac OS 8.6, which is not OS X - more commonly called "Classic." There's a Mac OS X version for the new Intel-based Macs, but I've never seen it called osx86. Some call them osx86 and some call them macintel.

Just a guess, have you tested GPSBabel? It might work.

I have not bought a GPSr of my own yet. Consider to buy the Explorist XL, but are having my thoughts after reading this tread. In Sweden - you know, this little country far up in the northern parts of Europe, inhabited by very nice people - I have experienced the opposite while contacting the Swedish general agency of Garmin and Magellan. I wrote an email to Garmin in Sweden and I had to resend it three (3) times before they answered my simple question and it took one and a half month to get some answer (sent the first email by the January 17, the second by the January 31 and the third by the February 7, and got the answer February 28). When I have sent an email to Magellan here in Sweden, I have got an answer the same day or the day after. So it seems to me that we are having a total opposite situation here in Sweden. But anyway, I get scared by reading that Magellan (Thales) do not seem to care about their customers or about their products. It gives me a bad feeling and I'm not 100% sure what to buy.

That's right. At both the Swedish website and the Norwegian website it says 256 colors, not 16 colors. Swedish: "Transflektiv TFT med 256 färger" (Transflective TFT with 256 colors) Norwegian: "Med en 256 fargers TFT skjerm" (With a 256 color TFT display) Maybe the people in North America do not need or do not use more than 16 colors?
