  1. Allrighty, then! Let's stick with meteorological phenomena. You are planning a geocaching road trip. The weather forecast is calling for temperature of -1C, with 10 cm of snow fall. Before you leave the driveway, the temperature falls to -20C. How much more or less snow will fall because of the temperature drop?
  2. That depends on the "special" ingredient in the brownies OK, on topic, which may seem weird for me, I am fluent in both measurements, but use imperial when zeroing in on a cache. Due to the sensitivity of the newer receivers, proximity is much better now. I find that being 1 foot from ground zero is so-o-o much better than being 1 meter away. Being 5 feet off is much better than being 2 meters off. Most times I have 2 GPSrs with me, one set in each unit. The imperial set receiver gets me to the cache.
  3. Hee hee! Althiometrists, if you want one of the Canadian "Pink Ribbon" quarters, feel free to ask. I have some of them here. (Just seeing that you collect quarters)
  4. OK, I'm going to hazard a guess. Because you say it's in the distance, and you can hardly see the mountains, I would say it's fog. Mist occurs in a a small locality, whereas fog is more widespread.
  5. Depending on the time of day, and the temperature, either could be correct. What is the dewpoint at the time of your encounter with the mist/fog? Is there a cold front approaching or leaving? How close to sea level are you, and how close to the actual water /
  6. This is just a tip for those who are thinking ahead. I keep a database of My Caches in GSAK, and get a PQ every week. All of my caches, dating back to 2006, have full logs back to the published log. Just drag the zip file into your database and it updates without overwriting.
  7. Yup! Like he said. ^^^^^ Both of my Legends were fixed after the latest update.
  8. Well, Keith, I read exactly what you intended in your first post. I have to agree with you that perception by some, is the detriment. It's the creativity and aforethought of the newbie cache placer, and that can make a great hide, or a very crappy one. Just look at some of the 30 or so caches placed in this area by Team Shutterbug, before they had their first find. Absolutely wonderful! Being someone who is new is no reason to be shunned by the masses. All I can say, is go for it, new hiders. If I don't like your first few, so be it. If I like them, you are a friend for life.
  9. They have a new arena? dadgum, I gotta get back and check it out (caches, too). Last time my band played there was '68.
  10. I found one made from one of those 45 gal. barrels, but I won't post the pic. It's too much of a giveaway.
  11. Brendah, we have so many southern visitors to this area, it would be wonderful if you could check in. I think most of the logs on my hides are from people outside the area.
  12. OK, Juicepig has the ball rolling, but that's another thread. Check here.
  13. If the OP is speaking about a Scout merit badge, the only thing I can come up with is this: The web site is http://www.geoscouting.com for more information.
  14. Hee hee! I'm actually in Parry Sound District, but Nippising Regional sounds good.
  15. I'm up to my neck so far, trying to get North Bay going, but Murfster is the one I want to contact about spreading, or starting something up there. It all takes time, which I am willing to give to the sport. Thanks for the positive replies, guys. Roger
  16. OK, I'm on board. C'mon everybody, let's shoot up them logs, and all the micros in the wild. Sorry, I just got carried away. Ain't no chance in HE double hockey sticks, I'm deleting any of my finds, nor any of my hides.
  17. Soylent Green? Hmm, I never saw the movie, but read the book when it first came out. That was a wonderful story about a drone who hated burning books? Oops, no, that was about a drone who hated anything larger than a film can. Me bad!
  18. Briansnat! You mean semi weekly, don't you? I vote for the filter in the forum to take care of the micro angst threads, instead.
  19. I recently broke stage 1 of a multi. Due to the fact that the CO had gone to a great deal of effort in creating a one of a kind container, there was no option but to secure the broken container where it could be protected and found, then notify the CO. In other cases, I have always carried at a minimum, a gallon Ziploc, and protected the cache as well as can be done on short notice. If, after e-mailing the CO, they suggested I replace a container, I am quite happy to return and do my best. As AR mentioned, it's all about sharing.
  20. We are attempting to get North Bay off the ground with a new geocaching association for the area. If I'm not breaking any rules here, I am going to post a link to the North Bay Geocachers Assoc. We are new, and as of yet unorganised. Any help and suggestions from cachers in the area are more than welcome. If I have broken some rule here, please let me know.
  21. Thank you to our world famous reviewer. We're on-line now. Milestones and Wings
  22. Snoogans! No fair posting photos of your relatives here. You should be ashamed.
  23. I see you have at least 19 finds in the past two days, so you must be getting co-ordinates somewhere. Is it something else you are missing? I'm confused!
