  1. Maybe your ISP has cached a copy of the page.... or maybe you're using a proxy server (look under internet options, connections) Very odd!
  2. Absolutely. I had a great idea for a cache, and was slow to place it, only to find that a well-known cacher in my local area had had almost exactly the same idea, and had already placed the cache. Perhaps we should have a way to trademark cache ideas...
  3. Yes Yes Yes!!! Me! I completely annoyed my wife and our two friends by pointing out exactly where the cache was every time they met on the bridge. I'm glad someone else spotted it.
  4. We're also from Aylesbury - it's odd how such a small town can have so many caches! Other famous people who live(d) here (or very close by): Jimmy Saville, David Jason, Jay Kay (with a handy cache near his house) and of course Tony Blair. Welcome to the wonderful and addictive world of geocaching. For a brief list of what you might get up to, Alibag's profile is worth a read!!!
  5. Absolutely. A great idea! It would certainly make a lot of peoples' lives over here easier.
  6. Fair enough. By the way - congrats on your 100th post - at the same time as me!! And to get this thread back on topic... I'd love to come - I spent 3 years at uni up that way but it's just a bit too far. Sorry
  7. Some friends of mine were extremely keen to help hide my caches - coming up with some great ideas. They still haven't found one! I quite enjoy hiding them, my wife much prefers finding them and can't understand my enthusiasm!!
  8. Wow! That is a lot of caches! Seriously well done!
  9. Why don't you use IE for one account and Firefox for another?
  10. Oooh! Me Me!!! I always wanted to place one near BBC TV Centre (where I work), and you beat me to it! I'd be happy to take on GCW7N7 and GCW7N9.
  11. Well done! Congratulations. How on earth do you find the time!?
  12. Found while camping last week. Watch out, Jolly Green Giants - he'll be catching you up soon!!! Well done, Jason!
  13. I've never met Ewan, but I've heard of him. Any incident like this is upsetting - especially so within the Geocaching community - a community that has gathered round and shown its feelings throughout this thread. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ewan and his family.
  14. As SP said, the cars from Tesco are a great idea - they were doing 'buy 3 for £1' a while ago and we bought a load. Also, we like to put in a book of stamps, a mini-bottle of that handwash gel (less than £1), tissues, any foreign coins I've got lying around, even a bike puncture repair kit!! (less than £1 in Tesco) I also saw a great idea - bags tied up into a small package and labelled CITO bags - ideal if your cache is in a really nice location and there's some litter you need to pick up. It's worth thinking about what you put in. We were FTF on a cache the other day along the canal near Tring, Bucks, and it was great to open the box and see it full of really cool stuff. Just a shame we hadn't brought any swops that day. Geoff
  15. After reading that ... how about a nice layer of cat litter in the bottom of the cache??
  16. I reckon you probably mean the youngest independent cacher? The youngest one I know of is the rubbery chicken at 16 ... or maybe he's really old and just acts so young!
  17. Ha - beaten to it! I was just logging on to thank Matrix for helping in the last stage of my first ever travel bug race. It's been an interesting journey (often in the wrong direction!) but one of them made it in the end! Many thanks
  18. Thank goodness I'm not a 'serious' geocacher - how would I fit it in my pocket??
  19. Brilliant. Well done. Any chance of slowing down so we can catch up???
  20. I wish! We're a bit stuck for choice over here in the UK. O2 provide the service, but I suppose I could try elsewhere. Either way, it'd be handy to have the important info in the top few lines.
  21. How about an option for a 'short notification'. I'd love to set up forwarding on my notification emails to my phone via SMS, but it would take up about 3 texts. Since I have to pay for each one, a simple, short notification would be brilliant.
  22. Alternatively, you could do what we do, which is to spray paint DPM-style onto the cache box. The acrylic-based model paint available from B&Q/Homebase works best and they do some great black/brown/green colours. You can even vary the colour once you know where you're going to place the cache!
