  1. I was wondering this same thing,, Would be a cool Premium Member option. Chris
  2. Same thing happened to me on the 4th. I could be in direct view of the sky and my Garmin Legend would loose all satelites. Kinda upset me enough to want to toss it out the car window. But if others are having the same problems.. who knows.
  3. Is there a way we can doctor up a sample Geocache Listing? I only ask this because I have been asked to talk to a Scout Troop soon and want to creat a few sample caches around the meeting location so they can find them. The sample pages would be needed just for the one evening. After the meeting the caches would be loaded up and be done with. So my question is, Is this a do-able option? or can someone send me an html page that I can use to doctor up? Chris KA7CJH...
  4. When you just enjoy going out and trying to find them.

  6. Try this, Soak it in water then freeze it. Once frozen make a mold of it using plaster of paris. Then you will have a very durable long lasting horse turd. One that can be copied very easily if you keep the mold. I think it's a cool idea. Chris
  7. Ok Guys, I have another Topo! question for you. Do I need to buy the California version to view that states detailed maps? Or can I just find some add-on maps for the state of California? Chris
  8. Here is a link for the cables. QUOTE (KA7CJH @ Dec 29 2005, 09:00 AM) QUOTE (Alan2 @ Dec 28 2005, 09:21 PM) Note that with NG Pocket PC, you can attach a GPS to the PPC to traack your current position on NG map in the PPC. Is there a special cable that you use with a PPC? I am using an HP 1910 PPC. http://pc-mobile.net/ might be one spot. What GPS do you use. Do a search on the web site. --------------------
  9. Thanks guys, Now that I can do some of the basic things with this program, Im finding out I like it. But it looks like I might still go out and buy a copy of mapsource just to change the basemap. Unless I can find someone in my area that has it. I like the detail of the maps, and finding coordinates seems very easy. Even for the newbie.. Anyone want to swap a few Topo! files? Chris KA7CJH
  10. Let me get this straight. You have applied for a Premium Member upgrade? Is this a month to month or yearly upgrade? when I paid for my PM I just logged in and gave my credit card info. About 15 hours later I had my account upgraded. If your paying monthly then I beleive you need to enter the -S activation code in order for it to take affect. Dont know is this was any help.. Chris BTW, Welcome to Geocaching
  11. Thanks Alan.. Im using a Garmin Legend. and a few other GPS'rs but mostly the Legend. Another question I thought up is, Can you upload a new basemap with the NG TOPO! prog? Or do I need to buy a copy of Mapsource too? Chris KA7CJH Reno,Nv... GPS'rs Garmin Legend Garmin Forerunner 201 Magellan 2000 XL (oldschool)
  12. Is there a special cable that you use with a PPC? I am using an HP 1910 PPC.
  13. 1> How do you print out just the elevation profile? 2> Can I export the TOPO! files into something that could be read on my Pocket Pc?
  14. Are there any National Geographic TOPO! users in here? I have a few questions and hope someone else can help.. Chris KA7CJH
  15. I got a copy of the National Geographic , seamless Topo Map software. Real cool. Now i can print my own custom maps.
  16. When I enter the jrh 5 I get nothing. When I enter 5386 or 5385 as its marked on the map I get nothing. So Im wondering, if it was so important to place this disc,,, then where's the info to go with it? And yes Im in Nevada. Reno to be exact.

  18. I just found a Benchmark that showed on my USGS Topo. It is listed as BM 5385 and is not in the Geocache.com or NGS's site.. I just wanted to see if it was still out there. So I visited a few sites in order to figure out the coordiantes and got within 15 feet of it.. Now to see if there is any info on the net concerning this Benchmark..
  19. The Magellan GPS 2000 XL is a good Geocaching unit. I found my first 8 or 9 caches with it. Even used it for placing my first 3 caches and everyone seems to be able to find them. The only problem is it takes just a bit longer to zero in on coordinates. Chris (KA7CJH)
  20. I might try finding it in the near future. Glad to see a fellow Northern Nevada cacher in these forums.
  21. I left the un-activated TB Dog/Tags in my Weather or Not, Geocache. They were snatched up in less than 24 hours of the cache being approved.. Guess I will be adding more U/A TB Tags to my next cache as well. Weather or Not
  22. Would you try to be FTF, if you knew there was a set of un-activated TB Dog tags in the cache? Thats what im thinking of adding to my next cache.
  23. Ok, here is what I think the Nevada Geo-coin should look like. http://www.qsl.net/ka7cjh/gc/Geocoin.jpg
  24. I have an idea for a very nice Nevada GeoCoin. As soon as I find it I will post it here. Is there a page where i can see the current ideas? Chris KA7CJH
  25. My screen name KA7CJH, is nothing more than my Amateur Radio Callsign. It's as unique as i am. Because the last three letters of it are my initials Chris J Hoffmann..
