  1. Only have 2 FTF, but yesterday I headed out to a 3 part cache in hopes of being FTF. Just got approved that morning. The description stated there was a prize for the FTF. The first part and the final were about 10 miles apart so I decided to pick up some other caches while I was in the area. Well, that was my mistake. By the time I finally reached the 3rd part (about 6:30pm), two other groups had already been there. But as luck would have it the FTF prize was still there. A brand new compass. Well, I have been meaning to get one for a while since I have the Garmin GPSmap 60 and I have to be moving for the compass to work. So this was the perfect find for me. Not real valuable, but very useful.
  2. When using Garmin Mapsource to load a topo map onto my GPSmap 60 I recieve this error: There is a problem with this GARMIN application. Error Information: At: 8/15/2006 9:06:29 PM (UTC) OS: Windows XP Service Pack 2 Processor: Intel Processor Level: 15, RAM: 1047280 KB MPL_FILEMEDIA.CPP-65-4.09 C:\DOCUME~1\BRYANM~1.KEL\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.266\Garmin Topo Disks\East\05623488.img It only happens when I try to load a map. I have no problems with waypoints or routes. Any help would be appriciated. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck.
  3. If anyone read my last post (Geocaching Secret Society) at that point I may have been a bit off of the topic that I actually plan to do my research on. I have shifted my focus to the Geocaching community and how it has evolved since it has evolved since the first cache. Any help would be appreciated. Is anyone aware of any more public, and more widely known, other online communities that exist that I could find more articles? So far, all I have really come up with is online gaming clans and such. Geocaching is its own society that has it's own rules/etiquette, traditions, meetings, we have to register and become members, and there are some secrets (sorry, I can't get off of that topic) but it is fun to hide it from the muggles . Thanks for everything. I cannot wait to hear your responses.
  4. I am fairly new to the world of geocaching and I was hoping that maybe some of the veterans can help me out with this. For my research writing class I am doing a research paper on geocaching with an emphasis on how widespread it has become with still most people never hearing of it. I believe that is the main reason many of us do it. It's something the muggles do not know about and often pass everyday without noticing. I can't go as far as to compare us to Yale's Skull and Bones, or even the Freemasons, but I was wondering if any of you has any input on this topic.
