  1. I have an old Magellan Explorist GC that I used to use and now it doesnt connect anymore to the GC.com website. I used to be able to upload tons of caches at once and then go find them... I didnt have to do them one by one. Does anyone know if there is alternative software that allows batch uploads of caches? Doing them one by one would be too tedious.
  2. Hmm possibly, I forgot about that. But I was wondering if I can do batches like I used to be able to do... Like the closest 50
  3. I found this in a drawer and wanted to use it. I went to load up caches from the website using the Magellan software and it couldnt connect... Is there another way I can load up caches into the handheld?
  4. Also Im having an issue with the compass not being correct. Its jumping all over the place and the " Heading " under the dashboard is going all over the place too. How does the unit have to be oriented when being used? Up and down, flat?
  5. yeah messing with it, it seems to be very nice. Its all I need. Because in the end, all we need is something to point us there and then be able to read the caches thats it.
  6. For some reason the time I set will not stick. Or it will not be the correct time. For instance now its 1130est. If I go to the time and set it to EST, the time says 830...wtf? Anyone know what issue Im having,
  7. Im trying to make a PQ for my magellan Explorist GC and when I select my options I keep getting your cache returned 0 results, or something close. Can someone do a 1000 results cache for 21061 in Maryland? 100 Mi radius and any size, any terrain, any cache ( Id like to do just regular caches, no challenges etc ). Id appreciate it. Then possibly email it to me? None the less any and all help on this would be appreciated.
  8. yeah my android has been rooted since 2008 haha. Its not that bad to do, but none the less I found mine to NOT be that accurate. Ive been in Xda for around 10 years and know all about android in and out. I even update the GPS drivers to make the a bit better, but still loose coverage under trees. The phones were meant to be used like this, while they are good yes, but the Explorist GC has pretty much shown me ( review wise ) that its not bad at all. And the Explorist is paperless, loads geocache.com by itself ( from what it looks like ). So its a good candidate.
  9. hahaha. And yeah I went with the Explorist GC yesterday. Should be here Saturday. I like how it syncs with the web and all. Great feature. Kind of like a cell phone almost.
  10. I forgot to ask before, where did you guys get your stamps done at? Also, do you have any pictures of that wooden holder you made up to hold the coin?
  11. Does the gps receive good signal under tree cover?
  12. Looking for one of these new or used. Let me know what you have. I have one possibly lined up for around 115 shipped NIB.
  13. I also just came across the MAGELLAN EXPLORIST GC. I can get a new one for 110 shipped.
  14. thanks, just what i wanted. Ill root around for something used.
  15. I know guys, its another find me a gps thread. But what I want is the cheapest paperless unit. But if you think about it, I can just use a high sensitivity unit just to get me there. Then I can use my cell as the paperless part. So whats the cheapest paperless unit and what is the cheapest basic unit. I dont have to see the maps, just the hey Im there mark and also how to get back to my car.
  16. Ah okay thanks! is there another method of tracking wooden nickles? If not, no biggie!
  17. Hi All, Im new to Geocaching, and I started today... talk about fun. On my second cache I found a wooden nickle in it and decided I wanted to do one too. I was googling all day and I came across a few DIY versions of the coins. One being the laserJet transfer method, a sticker on a coin, and the stamp method. I think I would go the stamp method, as its a bit easier to crank out some coins that way. Here are my questions 1. I know I said I wanted to do the stamp method, but is there a better way? Has anyone done it via stamp, if so what kind of stamp ( self inking etc ) 2. Where can I get cheap wooden coins at? 3. I'd like to track these, and I think I read that I could buy a Travel Bug and then attach that code to all of the coins and have it tracked like that.
