  1. Forgot to add, as I am sure you know, you will also need a copy of XP. Just no getting away cheaply is there.
  2. If you have Paralells you dont need Boot Camp. I can do anything on my MAC with Paralells that I can do at work with my XP Windoze system. I use a 60csx and use the USB port on the MAC , Everything works just like it 's supposed to. Imagine that
  3. No problem. The Paralells software allowes you to run Windoze right along side OS X, Best $79 I ever spent on software.
  4. I have tried "Route Buddy" on my 60csx and had problems, I would wait till they come out with a upgrade and maybe try it again. Current version is 1.1.1. I tried that before I put Paralells on my intel Macbook and it run's all my windoz programs perfect (you will need your own XP disc). For $79 it was the best way to get around the lack of Mac support from Garmin and still be able to use all the stuff I had bought back when I used a PC.(Mapsourse,CN 7, N Route) The GPS related stuff is the only thing I needed to run on my Mac and Paralells lets me do that.
  5. Dont ride your bike down a sidewalk with low hanging tree branches and try and read you gps display at the same time. You will suddenly find your self at a stop and sitting on the ground with out a bike under you and the GPS will read 0 MPH. Kinda along the lines of walking and chewing gum at the same time.
  6. I use "Paralells" on my Macbook. It works fine with Mapsourse, The biggest problem is I can only have one USB connection and that has to go to my 60 csx or it wont see the gpsr. I download updates on the MAC side to a shared folder then open up Windoze, go to the shared folder, and do the updates. Works for me untill Garmin comes up with something better.
  7. I have a new Macbook and I put on Paralells instead of Bootcamp. I then installed Windoz XP and all my Garmin software with out any problems. I use the USB on my 60csx and it all works smooth. Your milage may vary. IMHO Paralells is a better program, Yea I know Bootcamp is free, But Like the ol saying gos.... ya get what ya pay for.
  8. I have searched but couldnt find the answer to this ? Can you download custom POI's from your sd card to mapsource, edit them and send it back to the gpsr. (60csx) I work with 2 differernt pc's (home & work) and would like to be able to transfer progress on a custom poi db from work to home and back again.
  9. I am not a expert by any means but I have owened both GPSR's. I started with a Garmin Vista C and wanted more of a screen so I got the XL before a did a lot of research. The XL Customer Service is non existant, I sent 3 e-mail's about the extra mapsend cd included with the XL, after 2 weeks I got a reply the simply stated I need a DVD player to read it. Simple instructions on the cd cover would have solved this problem before it became one. 4 AA batteries make this a heavy piece to carry around. You have enough time to make coffee waiting for it to get a fix on sattilites. The large size makes it hard to find a pocket big enough to carry it in. The base map has very little detail and leaves out a lot of smaller state routes as well as small towns. It's not a one handed operation with the buttons at the top and the screen at the bottom. Even with the 3 axis compass you still needed to be moving to get a fix on direction. I know there was other things I didnt like but it was time to move on. I did like the big screen. But it wasent enough to keep me from returning mine before the 30 day return policy was up. I then took the money and got the 60csx and havent looked back. The 60CSX is every thing the XL is not. I can live with the slightly smaller screen. Your milage may vary and Kids dont try this at home.
  10. Having been doing this fun activity for only a week now, I was still not suprised by a fellow caching couple on my second find, Seems they beat me there by a few days and were just out walking the dog. It was only a matter of time in a urban setting before this would happen. I was amazed that it did happen so quick but not supprised. Hey "Red Vette" if your listening, We found the V8-4. NA-NA-NA-NA LOL
  11. Thans for the quick reply and the link. Had a brain freeze and didnt even think about a "search"
  12. We have a empty lot next to our home and thought it might be fun to watch people trying to find the cache hidden there. Has anyone else hide a prize so close to home and what could be the pitfalls.
