  1. In the European brochures it says 256 colors.
  2. I understand your point, but if someone throws a large ball of cotton on you, it doesn't hurt, but an equally sized or even smaller piece of steel will. You can't compare apples and pears. The attenuation is not even a couple of dB. A 3dB loss would mean that the signal loss were about 50%. That would be a serious issue and if that was the case the weather would have a very large impact on the performance.
  3. The weather does not have anything to do with the performance of your GPSr. The satellites are 20.000km (roughly 12.400 miles) from earth, and clouds/weather are usually about 1km (0,6 miles) above our heads. Though it's unusual, on a "bad GPS day" the cloud/weather can be 9km (5,6 miles) up. Even then it does not have any effect on the performance. The "layer of weather" is simply to thin. If you have a microwave radio link the weather can be a problem. But the radio waves of such a device travels only a couple of 100 feet in the air, and therefore only travels through weather. Did I make any sense or do I have to take an english class?
  4. It is a difference, but you can't print the whole manual in the adverts. Besides, the adverts didn't say that you can have unlimited waypoints "active" and visible.
  5. The 400 and 500 does not have electronic compasses. Only the 300 and 600 does. The 600 has a 3-axis compass.
  6. Sure you can use it with Microsoft streets and trips. Just install the driver for virtual com-port. In Device Manager look under modems (not com-ports) and you can find out which number it has been assigned. The baud rate is 9600 (I think).
  7. Download "MapSend Manager" from http://www.magellangps.com/en/products/pro...asp?PRODID=1224 It let's you convert things between older Magellan formats and the new eXplorist format.
  8. How do you find caches with one of those?
  9. Try connecting the cable the other way on your GPSr. The cable should be running down the unit.
  10. It's locked to the card by electronic serial number.
  11. Your unit dropped the basemap. If your lucky the only thing you need to do is reload the basemap. If you are out of luck it's the flash memory thats corrupted and then Magellan needs to exchange it.
  12. Well, can you get the basemap from Magellan and then get their help (or mine) you can do it yourself. Good luck!
  13. You or Magellan or somebody has to reload the Basemap. As far as I know it's not unrestricted, so you probably have to send it for repairs.
  14. While we're at it why not the sub centimeter Pro Mark 3
  15. The Blazer 12 is no that good for caching. It has poor accuracy and reception. It was a fine unit, but it's really old, at least 7 years.
