  1. We are wanting to host an event cache to celebrate the opening of a new regional park in our county. This is virgin land that has no caches on it yet. There are a group of us that are taking the initiative to place caches on the property and have all agreed to not publish until the day of the event. Our goal is to have at least one type of cache each so that attendees of the event will be able to get 6 different maybe 7 different kinds of caches in one day. Our plan is to publish it as a kick-off celebration of the new park with a breakfast potluck. We will be handing out trail maps of the new park, talking about the highlights of the long term master plan, have a raffle of geocaching swag provided by some big name sponsors and will also have a representative there from the parks department selling annual passes to our county park system. My question is: Can we also list on our event page that we have seeded the park with 7 (hopefully many more) brand new caches that will be published immediately after the event without upsetting the reviewers or having our event cache denied? Our fear is that if we even mention our plan to publish all these new caches in conjunction with the kick-off event that the reviewers will deny the request. Needless to say, we would obviously peak more interest/event attendance if they attendees knew that they would have a chance at multiple FTF's that day. So, Do we announce the batch of new caches to be published or not?
  2. Well, if it'll make you feel any better, we are having the same problem. Many attributes which are listed on the HTML editor page are not working when we enter them into our HTML source. We've tried setting, for example, the color, size, width with an "hr" tag. No joy. We've tried setting the style attribute with the "p" tag. Also, no joy. Groundspeak should either fix this or change the editor page to not show these attributes as working/supported. <ben stein>Groundspeak? Groundspeak?</ben stein>
  3. Does anyone know how long(how many characters/letters and or spaces)a cache name can be. AND Do spaces count as characters?
  4. Well the Good News is that, after going out for dinner (I'm on a business trip) with my wife, and after nabbing a couple of caches (we just happened to have loaded this morning before the PQ engine went south), it looks like the PQs are up and running again as both of my queued PQs have run! Woo Hoo!
  5. Well as PQs run on Groundspeak servers, it doesn't really matter how close or far away you are. The problem is likely that their servers are severely overloaded (for some reason) or PQ-down Wouldn't it be nice if Groundspeak had some sort of status page we could go to so we'd not be in the dark and could at least plan a little better? Not a huge thing, but it would be nice. Oh, same problem here. Two PQs... both in the queue for over an hour now. I don't recall ever having to wait more than 10 minutes before. In the life-scheme of things not a huge deal, but then again... I want to go geocache!
  6. Same problem here. Sometimes I go to log my caches at the end of the day and the date is the current day (as expected). Other times the date is the previous day (or two days back, maybe). I have some thoughts as to why this may be, but in any event, I don't consider this a "feature." For now, I'm just double-checking the date field before I log the first entry for each day.
  7. Yep. That's what I'm seeing and, now that you mention it, it does make sense. I guess, being a relatively geocaching newbie, it'll all look a bit sexier tomorrow! Thanks!
  8. Is it just me, or have the statistics graphs "Finds Per Month" and "Cumulative Findes Per Month" broken since the update yesterday? Today, when I went to look at the statistics for Team ZombieDragonfly both of those graphs were mere colored boxes with no embedded data. The rest of the statistics page still looks OK.
  9. Or better yet, IMHO, let us decide which map we prefer as the default in our profile.
  10. TBs from time to time and... Zombies Dragonflies although to be fair, Team ZombieDragonfly is new to geocaching, the Zombies have just come in and we're still waiting on the dragonflies.
  11. I don't know about Geocaching/Groundspeak, but I plan on contributing (donating my time, if you prefer) by filling in a few missing trails here and there close to where I live. That's one thing I like about the move to Openstreetmap, that the community can work to make it better/more accurate. Even the "sacrosanct" Google maps are missing a lot of this sort of detail.
