  2. Is there an option to not display maps on the description pages? The dinky things are no good and really slow it down...

That would be an excellent idea. Infact sometimes depending where I'm connecting from non of the maps appear on cache description page anyway. I think there should be a user preference to choose which map if any is displayed on the description page.

    My two euro cents.

  3. I don't see the need for this either, though my caching arena is in Finland and Saudi Arabia where it would be highly unlikely to have 500 cachers in one place. But it does look to me like there is need for new types for caches since the 'unknown' type seems to have a lot of similar type of caches. For example in Finland most of the unkwown type caches seems to be a puzzle/mystery.

So here is my suggestion: How about creating a type for puzzle/mystery with a puzzle icon? Then ask unknown cache owners to verify their caches, if they should be of the new type. And just leave unknown as it is as it will still play the role of the catch all cache type. This would allow new innovative cache types to stand out in unknown cache listings.

  4. Minusta on hienoa, että Suomessa on yhteisöhenki nostettu kunnia paikalle. Voin käydä huoltamassa Kirkkonummelaisia kätköjä tämän kesän aikana ja palaan Saudilandiaan vasta elokuussa tai jopa myöhemmin.

  6. I'm using Safari 2.0.3 and cannot view the maps either. I never had any problems with the old maps. I have no problem using Google Maps when going directly to the web site. This really put a hurtin' on the GeoMac users.

Me too, I also tried this on Firefox for Mac OS X and it also refused to show the Google Map properly. It actually sais that the Google Map API is not supported on the browser. Maybe there should be a server side check on the client agent to provide the old style map until Google has support for out beloved OS.

I think it is a Windows thingy or something and I don't touch that stuff, might catch a virus from it ;)

  7. I find that the sorting of finds, DNFs etc on My Account page is somewho strange. It doesn't seem to sort in completly cronologial order instead it sorts by date latest date at top but within the date latest entry at the bottom. Is there a reason for this mixed type of sorting? I'd just like to see all entries in the order I've logged them in.

Also is the date string configurable to the ISO standard format yyyy-mm-dd? The US style date is quite confusing.

  8. You can set your time zone in the profile page.

    http://www.geocaching.com/my/details.aspx

If I remember correctly, this doesn't work for the date stamp on the cache page - that seems to be fixed to UTC-9.

Yes I have set the timezone on my account page, but it doesn't have any effect anywhere. But as Jeremy said, it's coming but slowly.

    Cheers

  9. It would be great if the website could show times in localtime (or selected timezone). Now I have to figure out how much is PST from GMT and add three hours during summer and two if winter (there is no DST here).

  10. Attributes what to add:

*Compass required (if some cache's solution needs compass or it helps orienteering in the deep forest)

*Torch required (it's good to know because some caches are in deep hiding-place and this information helps)

*Pencil required (very important with some micro-caches, sometimes we can not log due not having pencil)

A compass, a small torch and a pencil or pen is something I carry always with me when caching. They are just as vital to caching as my GPSr. I fon't mind if those were attributes, but they are in a way redundant information as I would carry them anyway.
