  1. Oh, that's nothing. I log fake notes on Vinnie's caches all the time. It drives him crazy, trying to distinguish which is a real note, and which isn't!
  2. The reasons that Waymarking doesn't hold my interest is my perception of it as a "lazy way" of geocaching. This is solely MY perception, and I have a royalty on it - if you share it, that's great, but you gotta cough up some money. A large part of the reason I enjoy geocaching is the time and effort someone else puts into creating and hiding a cache, and the time and effort that I put into finding it, or vice versa, if I'm the one hiding the cache. Waymarking doesn't really require much creativity or effort, IMHO... you're marking something that already exists, not creating something new. I don't go after benchmarks either - same reason.
  3. I'm hurt. After all we have been to each other, I don't even get a mention, except as a generic geostalkee??? I'm crushed! I'm also the first female president of my state's geocaching org (I think)... not that I ever really thought of it that way before, or cared. And will promptly forget it and go on geocaching. (But... take that, Hillary! )
  4. I HAVE ONLY BEGUN TO FIGHT! *sneaksneak*
  5. The parents of a friend of mine asked me if I could track down where Dorris Park is in Missouri - they've apparently heard that there is a Dorris Park, but have been unable to find any trace of it. I haven't had any luck either - does anyone from MO know?
  6. Yes. . . . . . No. What was the question?
  7. NOW I know how I can get some of those Urban Psycho Caches!
  8. I miss Vinny. Vinny would have something to say about this. It would probably involve goats, aliens, and invoke Godwin's law... ... but he would have something to say!
  9. Here is the link to the Nebraska group, there are many members in Omaha/Council Bluffs and surrounding areas. Nebraskache is a group of cachers from across Nebraska. Find us on Yahoo Groups: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Nebraskache/ You will see that we have a Sat morning breakfast every week (usu in Plattsmouth) which is a great way to meet area cachers and can usually find someone to cache with that day too. We also have a new website for the Nebraska group! www.nebraskacher.com
  10. This was from a letterbox hybrid cache I hunted once. Starting coordinates were for the parking lot... then you had to follow a map. Boy, did I feel stupid.
  11. If someone decided to do armchair caching and then made a point of rubbing my nose in the fact that they didn't bother to go find the caches, just claim the smilie, I'd do some prompt armchair deleting of my own. You're right - generally, cachers tend to assume that finds are legitimate, and people are honest, and don't bother to go check. I know I don't. But that doesn't mean I'd let something like this pass, if it happened to me. I wouldn't call it fun, I'd call it keeping the records straight.
  12. Well, I have to respond to this one.
  13. Hey now, plenty of friendly folks out this way. I realized I was babbling! I've never been out to Eastern Iowa, so I can't pass judgement. Sorry about the nonsensical posting.
  14. I generally don't cache more than maybe 10 miles east of the I-29 line, except for points south of Council Bluffs. I had a run-in with one cacher there that soured me on northwest Iowa... I'm well aware I'm overreacting, but there's no shortage of caches to find on the other side of the Nebraska-Iowa state line, so it doesn't hurt anyone. I know a fair number of cachers in the CB area though, they seem like regular people. Edited: Oh - wait. You're talking about eastern Iowa. Never mind. Sorry!
  15. I guess it's time to 'fess up. Jeremy is not the real Jeremy. His name is Cummerbund. He inherited the job from the previous Jeremy, who was not the real Jeremy either. The real Jeremy has been retired for twenty years, and living like a king in Patagonia.
  16. Then STOP stalking him!!! But stalking is so much FUN...
  17. Slightly off topic, but I was poking around in my trunk the other day. ... propane bottle for portable stove a shoe flashlight with dead batteries cool looking shell bag containing the other shoe a book by Melanie Rawn pair of shorts that have earned the status "rag" two lawn chairs two tents beach umbrella lantern unopened pack of 4 D cell batteries two sleeping bags two sleeping mats tied shut bag containing bottle of Windex and bone-dry sponge portable stove Little Brown Book listing the rules of grammar and writing from a long-ago class spare tire (I hope) coffeemaker that plugs into the cigarette lighter interesting stones from North Carolina interesting pinecones from Colorado a pole that looked like it would make a good walking stick at some point beach bag with stuff .... I could go on...
  18. :D Multi-tools have knives... you know better than to leave those in caches. (yes the guideline sounds silly but there are good reasons for it) well, I only really did it once... and that was nearly two years ago... I can't afford to leave such good ftf prizes normally.
  19. I've left multi-tools as FTF prizes. Lottery tickets are nice, I found a lottery ticket as a FTF prize once... won a few dollars. Left an old Caesar's Palace $1 gaming token in a Roman-themed cache once as an FTF prize - I'm not sure how that was received, but I thought it was pretty cool!
  20. My brother's name is Tom. Coincidence? I think NOT!!!! I love Vinny. Why, whenever I stumble up on a post by Sionevil on this forum that mentions my name, is it invariably true that the Google banner ads ("Ad by Google") that appear at the top of the page are somehow ALWAYS connected with space aliens and/or UFOs? What IS it about Sionevil, anyway? And, how does Sionevil have access to the entire Autovon phone system at an obscure tiny Air Force base in Nebraska? How is it that she gets to use the entire network of Air Force communications satellites and surveillance satellites to spy on me? Huh? Because I'm Just That Good !!
  21. I issue "needs maintenance" logs on Vinny's caches daily. Sometime, I vary it with "Needs Archived", or "Needs to be Eaten by Goats" or "Needs to be Abducted by Aliens". But I'm sure there is no connection to what Vinny said above.
  22. Go caching of course Last time I checked, you have to send the Global Forum Moderators geocoins. This week, the great spinning geocide wheel points to the moderator in Georgia and says that he is the one who would be the recipient. I would like to complain that it doesn't land on Georgia often enough, but am happy that it did this week. Mmm... I could send a freshly autographed copy of "Americacher Pie". I'll even write a made up tracking # on the bottom.
  23. I would hate to be responsible for a geocide. OK, not entirely true, but here goes... I hope that makes you feel better. Much! That's more like it! Just remember - How Would Jesus Complain? - and you'll be all set in the future! How do you reverse a geocide?
  24. I'd like to complain about the quality of this complaint. Aren't moderators supposed to be superhuman? I expected a super-human-sized complaint! I'm very disappointed. I might have to geocide.
