  1. All of these are really awesome. It would be great to find these because it shows the pride and care of the owner in placing caches like this. Great work!!
  2. Pretty cool way to code new coordinates. I like it.
  3. If my limited understanding of both GPS and GLONASS systems is correct, using both on a unit able to do so won't increase or enhance accuracy. Your gps unit only needs three sats to triangulate your position as well as give elevation information. Of course the more sats your unit is able to communicate with, the better. With having the ability for your unit to be able to communicate with more sats the chances for your unit to have a stronger signal to work with will enhance the accuracy. Therefore, having more sats for your unit to be in communication with is a good thing. Having as strong a signal with these sats is what provides your unit with better accuracy. Again, this is just my personal logical interpretation of this issue. I hope this helps.
  4. My children and I set off on our first adventure together. This was also my first time out so we didn't have a clue what to expect. I put two caches into my gps and we headed out to give it a try. So here's how it went. We arrived at the location, parked the car and read the info about the cache on my gps. Then off we went to the location of the cache. Once we were in the general area we used the hints and our brains and began our search. I picked easy finds for our first time out. After about 5 minutes of searching we found our first cache. We opened it up and read the logbook, signed it and re-hid the cache. Immediately my children asked me "Daddy, do you have any more places in your gps that we can find??" I only had one more, and we found that one. My kids asked me if I could put more into my gps, so we went back home and loaded more caches in my gps. Certainly a successful first adventure and one we all love.
  5. I just started out, but I really enjoy the thinking aspect of this hobby. One cache that was actually found by my daughter was hidden in a hole in a tree and very well concealed. She was beyond excited when she made the discovery.
  6. I just started in this wonderful adventure. My children and I found three out of three caches we set off to find. Not only is this hobby exciting, but it's great to be outside and use your brain while having fun with your family. Today was our first adventure and it's very addicting. We would have been out all day but the rain forced us to stop. My daughter found one cache and the excitement she experienced and showed was priceless. Thanks to this awesome website for getting me interested in and pursuing this hobby.
  7. What a success!! My kids an I set off on our first geocaching adventure. Out of the three we went out to find, we found all three. I love it and my kids love it. My daughter found one of the caches that was very well hidden. It's a heck of a rush finding the caches. My kids and I found a new family outdoor activity!!
  8. Hello everyone!! My name is Mike and I'm from Durham, NC. I enjoy the outdoors and I'm looking forward to getting into this activity. Just downloaded a couple of Caches to my GPS and I hope the weather holds off so my kids and I can head out tomorrow.
