  1. Thats what I ended up doing, I got the Garmin brand sandbag and mount off some website for about $40.00. Much cheaper than from garmin. I am very impressed with the CS's satellite reception. No external antenna and I had a full 12 channels full all day on it so I may just skip that. I just need some newer maps now!
  2. I'm a web developer and I don't know of any html based counters. Does the HTML description allow programming, iframes, or SSI's?
  3. Ok so I started this thread a while back because my GPS had been stolen and I was curious how many units people end up going through. Thought I'd give an update now that my SECOND unit was stolen. Call me a slow learner but this theft was a little more brutal. The first one was because I was dumb by leaving the car unlocked, at school, at night in a jeep (the #1 broken into car around here). This time around it was in my frikkin driveway, locked and really poorly jimmied into (my driver's door doesn't lock anymore). With the unit locked in the glove compartment. And they actually took more than just the GPS. Not much more, they weren't the smartest in the world I guess, they took the faceplate off my stereo but left the stereo, took the GPS from the glovebox but left my checkbook.. A lot of work for an old explorist 210 and a useless stereo part... But again, an excuse to upgrade. Used the forums' garage sale to trade an old laptop for a used 60cs, bought the nav kit and am lovin it, and it never leaves my side. I don't even leave it at home much, I take it to work with me (I work in a pharmacy) and keep it in the safe So now my Jeep is empty. I even keep the reg and ins in my wallet and leave the jeep unlocked so they don't have to break in to see that it was a waste of time. If they decide to just take the jeep itself they won't get far, I don't even keep gas in it! So in short I'm up to unit number 3, how bout you?
  4. I can tell it is beta for a reason. A handful of little glitches that are enough to make me go back to the previous version. IMHO
  5. Garmins' City Navigator is coming out with their 8.0 version. I can't quite afford it myself, anyone out there going to by it and want to sell their 7.0 at discount?
  6. If you make your cache a Members Only cache your wish will be granted. Yea, I tried that but unfortunately there are always going to be more freebie members than premium members. I like lots of people to visit my caches
  7. Topic says it all. I would like to see how many people are viewing my cache, not just 'watching". Anyone else?
  8. "Uh yea.. uh, well see I saw this thing on the in-ter-net where it talks about this club with millions of followers with special connections to the military who hide presents in tupperware and fake birds and then cant keep the secret so they put that on the in-ter-net too. I swear it, man! These things! Theres one here too! Watch out! These are hiding everywhere, I swear the in-ter-net told me! They are calling for me! I have to find them! Help me!"
  9. There is one cache here that is hidden in a thorn bush in a playground that is ALWAYS full of people. Tons of kids durin the day that are always full of questions like "Whatcha dooooin?". And at night it is the teenage hangout full of funny smelling smoke. Been more than a month now and I haven't been there when there were less than half a dozen people. Arrrgh.
  10. I made the description %typ1/%con1 - %Dif/%Ter (%By) and works great. I know it will cut it off because they are generally long, but what is the %variable for the hint? Is there a list somewhere that gives all those variables. This GSAK thing is pretty dang cool, I think I will purchase it when the trial runs out. Very handy! Thank you so much everyone!
  11. My Name is Roger Kovacs - scavoK It seems that the most limited part of a waypoint entry is the title, the description can hold a fair amount of info, but even with GSAK I have to type the hint, size and other attributes into it. I have an iPaq but I feel the same way about lugging it out, easier to just print the listing
  12. I'm sure they can, I see it a lot. I have my computer against the wall with my webcam on the monitor and the cam faces the couch in front of the tv. When I have my cam on and I sit on the couch and use my TV remote it looks like a friggin star wars movie with laser beams shooting out of the remote!
  13. Kind of depends on how far off it is, I think. I was recently in an area with some caches along a river that had significantly swollen and then receded into a different path and threw the "which side of the river" completely off. I also had a friend tell me he went on a paddling trip and tracked it on the GPS only to see that he had apparently paddled the whole thing about 40 feet outside of the river.
  14. Good move, today was my first day with my 60cs and I had purchased one of those $10 invisishields for it. Seems like a bit much for a screen protector but I was impressed. It has a lifetime guarantee (only legit one I saw for a screen protector). It went on real smooth. It gets applied like window tint, with spray and even a mini-squeegee, and I can't even tell its there until I touch it. Very happy with it.
  15. "Ouch! That looks like it hurts!" No kidding. Look at the size of this ouch! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...28-8dee0a308093
  16. Never used GSAK before either. Downloaded and tried it out, very nice Does the garmin not have the functionality of displaying things like container type, difficulty, hints, ... That is a bit of a suprise Thanks for the reply though, I'm set for caching tomorrow now
  17. Do I really have to use mapsource and create a waypoint, call it a geocache and copy-paste the coords and everything into it? with the magellin I could just download the file from the listing and load it right in there... I'm new to the whole garmin thing so, please, enlighten me
  18. I got a handheld TV for being FTF on an 'evil hide' cache. Don't really get to keep it, it just means that I had to come up with an evil hide to give to the FTF on my cache. Fun
  19. Thanks, thats what I was looking for!
  20. Get ahold of EricK............ found a cacher by the nickname erick, but hasn't been active for a couple of years. Maybe I'm mising something?
  21. Who do I contact to get a new one or is the coin just a piece of metal now? I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find an answer and the actvation link on the webiste doesn't give a contact-us address or anything. The coin is a simple 2006 USA geocaching coin and I figure would be activated at http://www.geocaching.com/track/activate.aspx Thanks!
  22. Actually all I really want is the antenna and 'sandbag' dash mount. I can get the antenna cheap enough but can't find where to buy the mount on its own. Want to trade or sell or just give some info on where to buy cheap... anything is appreciated. Thanks!
  23. Just so everyone knows... I got my Colorado Geocoins today. WOW A generic icon unfortunately, but even the proofs for this coin don't give it justice. Very handsome coins indeed!
