  1. Congratulations iNokia (400 finds) and Hesamati (100 finds) on your special milestones - well done!
  2. There are a few ammocans around in the Western Cape - we have placed two of them, but purchased them in the UK a few years back. Whether they are available here in SA, we do not know, but we brought them back in our suitcases and got through Customs without any questions! They did confiscate the Stilton cheese though!
  3. Thanks for the good news, Andy - well done on your negotiations.
  4. Good luck Andy - we are all thinking of you and wishing you all the best.
  5. Another great milestone ......... congratulations Cownchicken on 1400 finds - very well done and have lots more fun finding plenty more.
  6. Good morning to Carbon Hunter & Tomtwogates ........ have a great day!
  7. Irma is our trusty Quest 2 - she has an American voice which is preferable to the high pitch English one and frequently is known to yell at us 'Off Route' when we forget to listen to her instructions and disobey her commands!
  8. Many thanks for the good wishes - we really are having an amazing time caching in Scotland. Our congratulations to Battlerat & Pussycat too, and to all the others who have been having fun and raking up numbers while we've been away. Very well done to you all.
  9. Good morning, Carbon Hunter & BruceTP - from a still dark and really cold Scotland!
  10. We had the same problem with telkomsa.net and despite numerous calls to their helpdesk, it was never sorted. We changed our address and all is well now.
  11. Merry Christmas to all our geocaching friends - have a wonderful time with family and friends. All the best for a super 2009 too - may there be lots and lots of caches to find!
  12. A busy morning today - a big hallo from an icy cold, still dark Scotland to the pooks, Jors, BruceTP, Antron, CapeDoc and cache-fan! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.
  13. Morning Cownchicken! Miss you too!
  14. Good morning, Fish Eagle, from a very icy cold and snowy Scotland! We are thinking of you with the Kruger Park negotiations and wish you good luck.
  15. Greyton Rose Fair was a wonderful weekend - our little village was alive with lots and lots of people and fantastic events too. The theme this year was 'Greyton as a Wedding Venue' - the Churches were all decorated for weddings and the restuarants and hotels all had similar type events. There were dinners and music concerts, and a Thanksgiving Interdenominational Church Service on the Sunday too The Rose Show was spectacular and the open gardens around the village were beautiful too. The Saturday market was wonderful - we were responsible for 700 boerewors rolls - all lovingly braaied by Vic & Andre; 800 pancakes where Jeanne played a huge role; 200 hamburgers; 230 bacon & egg rolls; tea, coffee, gingerbeer, colddrinks, cakes and the list goes on and on! Folk come from afar to sell their wares and there were over 800 rose bushes for sale. The Rose Fair is staged annually by the Greyton Seniors' Club to raise funds for meals for the needy and is always the last weekend in October - start planning your caching trip to the Overberg for next year right now! We would love to have you here! A special word of thanks must go to Cownchicken who certainly worked incredibly hard - you both are very special friends and we do appreciate your very willing help
  16. During our recent visit to Mpumalanga, we removed a cigarette lighter from a cache. We put it in the central open console area of the car and promptly forgot about it. You can well imagine our surprise when a few days later we heard a loud bang from inside the locked cache mobile and discovered the little blue lighter had actually exploded and hundreds of little bits of blue plastic were scattered inside the vehicle! Luckily we weren't in the vehicle and no damage was actually done to the car. We can only imagine what would have happened to the cache container if it had exploded a few days earlier!
  17. Good morning, Noddy - we see you're up early too!
  18. • CrystalFairy have 297 cachers on her database. • The total database records are very close to the official count. So let us assume a 5% error in the database. This will indicate that there could be between 207 and 229 active cachers in South Africa. CrystalFairy have 297 cachers in her database. To me this could be a realistic figure. After looking at the stats mentioned, we wish to point out that they are really not accurate. Just glancing at the Western Cape ones, we notice at least four or five very active cachers not on the list and many more also in the Eastern Cape, that are busy placing them and finding them very regularly. Some of those on the list haven't cached in the last six months, if not longer. Also the finds statistics are incorrect for some cachers, so it would appear they have been inactive, when they actually have been caching.
  19. Ha-ha, the "wet feet" cache...... But, there's more that you don't know about it yet...... I'm the "official maintainer", and I haven't been back there since we found it over 2 years ago - sies!! I've got a long-outstanding request to rescue the traveller in it, and I've been dragging my heels - sorry, my Cape friends, but maybe this is the prod I needed...!!! Bouts, ya wanna do a joint effort? It's easiest right now, before the rains come. If you're interested, call a date and time, and I'll join you. BTW, if you're into fishing, I'm a keen "papgooier" and could spend a few hours there too!! Wow! Sounds good to us!!!

  21. Good Morning to the farm ......... !
  22. Wow, Bats! How on earth can one argue with someone so irrational??? Clearly not a very nice person and may be you and Sam are fortunate not to have to meet up with him again! Count it as a blessing!
  23. We recently found a disabled cache - the cache container and lid were there, still marked as a geocache, and bits and pieces of the missing travel bugs. We claimed it as a find and emailed the owner and asked him to either do some much needed maintenance or to remove the cache container and archive the cache. If we had not found the cache container, we would have logged it as a DNF.
  24. So good to hear from you, Vespax. We do miss you all and often wonder how you are getting on. Colorado Mountains sound magnificent - just wish we could come and visit! Who knows, maybe one day, but definitely not this year, though.
  25. Morning Wazat - glad to see we are not the only ones awake on this really cold morning
