  1. Hi there we'll be visiting Crete for 14 nights in October staying in Rethymno, we'll be hiring a car and would like to do some 'caching while we are out and about Any suggestions for 'Must do' or a top ten cache list for us to tick off? Don't mind going off the beaten track for the right cache as long as they are worth the effort. Many thanks for your suggestions. Roy.
  2. Hi Aranita, GC7F57 is definately on my list of must do caches. My preference is for traditional caches, be it Nano, Micro etc. Multi's and puzzle caches are out of the question this trip unfortunately due to time constraints, although I would like to try for an earthcache if time permits. We won't be spending our whole time at the Oktoberfest as we would like to see some of the city too, time allowing. We are staying at Schwanthalerstrasse and the only two definate plans are that I would like to visit the Hofbrauhaus and also the Theresienweise.
  3. Hallo As a 50th birthday treat I will be heading to Munich for the opening ceremony of the Oktoberfest. We land on the Friday night and depart on the Monday afternoon, can anybody recommend 3 or 4 "must do" geocaches while in Munich? We are staying fairly central and will be relying on public transport or walking. Many thanks and Kindest regards Roy aka Bhodisatva.
  4. After a couple of years break from caching (business getting in the way) wifey and self have returned. Up to press we have always used our ever reliable, trusty and bomb proof Garmin 12, yes inputting waypoints was a time consuming task, pre-smart phone days printing off caches notes for trips was a pain but we persevered. We have however decided to drag ourselves into the 21st century and purchase a new GPS. Over the past week I have poured over online reviews, I've scoured the Groundspeak forums for advice and recommendations, I've sought out topics long consigned to the "since beginning" section of the search criteria on here and have with much deliberation and cogitation eventually made a choice, whether wise or not has yet to be seen. The object of my desire? A Garmin GPSMAP 62S, OK so I know it's a discontinued model but it ticks all my boxes in theory, with a premium subscription to Groundspeak (something I've never been able to justify before), I shall be able to go paperless, no more manual inputting of waypoints unless I want to, button technology rather than touchscreen, etc. Trying to source one from a reputable company has proved slightly more taxing than deciding on the unit in the first place, everybody has dropped it like a hot stone, one company has three in stock, unfortunately they are held at three different branches (none close to me) and not available for home delivery, click collect from store and be told there is no policy of inter branch transfer so I can't collect from my local store either, another store which has them and is prepared to do an inter branch transfer is charging the almost original RRP making it 50% more expensive than it should be, but I persevered and found someone who has a bricks n mortar shop (not just an online presence), who had the item at a reasonable price and who thankfully had 2 in stock. The deal was done at lunchtime and tomorrow I shall hopefully be the proud owner of a 62S. As for the Garmin 12, well I won't retire it entirely, I'll keep it for emergencies and as a back up unit, it's been a useful tool and I see no reason as to why I need to offload it. Once again, let the caching commence. Bhod.
  5. It looks as though these two caches may have been saved (woo and indeed hooo), am just awaiting confirmation.

  7. Hi all, have just received notification from a friend that the 2 caches he adopted (previously mine) are now up for adoption again. The two caches in question are West London ones (Kensington/Holland park), one of which is a TB Hotel. If anyone would like to take on responsibility for these caches can they please contact me ASAP and I'll make the arrangements. Would be a real shame to see these two disappear. Many thanks Roy aka Bhod.

  14. Well done indeed Jazz, i've done a few of these caches and really enjoyed them, a little too far for me to adopt any of them but glad to see they will survive for a little while longer.
  15. Hoping to get to this, house move undertaken, steady internet access once more so will do my best.
  16. Going to be in Hawaii for my birthday in September and would like some ideas on "must do" caches, only going to be there for a week though so would like at least to grab one "extra special" cache if possible. Don't know how easy it is to get around the island but will be based at the Pacific Beach hotel, any and all ideas welcome.
  17. Save a 4x4, eat a tree hugging eco-freak troll a day.

  20. Will try to get there, no transport at the moment though and still trying to figure out the different methods of public transport up here. Why can't it be simple? three different bus operators, three different fare schemes, non-interchangeable tickets, grrr grrr grrr.
