  1. Hmmm....when I click on the English version for Mac nothing happens. Any ideas?
  2. Yay! They found their first cache. Now let's see if they update this thread accoringly!
  3. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...;hl=5000+caches
  4. I was snooping around the net tonight and came across this cache. Anyone on the forums hunted and/or found this one? 79 DNF's compared to 17 finds? Wow...
  5. Connect the GPS to your computer and let it recognize it. It should be assigned a drive letter like D:Garmin Oregon or similar. Click on it and then click on the Garmin folder, then GPX. Put your pocket query in here and it will now show up in the Geocaching application on the GPS.
  6. Now you know why they are priced the way they are.
  7. Hey gang, how exactly do you back up the Colorado 300? Mine is fine, but I really want to have it backed up in case something ever does happen...thanks!
  8. Does the Oregon have a yellow sticker on the back of it where the carabiner clip slides onto? My Colorado's had this sticker, and as soon as it was removed the carabiner slid on, but was securely attached.
  9. I've only had my Colorado for a couple of days, but I've found 11 caches with it, no problem. I also came from an eXplorist 500, and the Colorado is very advanced in comparison to the Maggie. It's just taking a bit of getting used to the way the Colo operates...it has it's moments to be sure, but I don't regret getting it. I went with the Colo over the Oregon for the simple fact that that the touch screen will be very expensive to replace if it ever needs to be, and the Colo just looked tougher...it looked like it could take a beating in the woods better than the Oregon, and of course this is just opinion.
  10. My wife found this contraption at Big Lots that charges an iPhone or Touch with a AA battery. It's pretty neat actually, and could be a lifesaver on the trail.
  11. The iPhone may sound like a good idea, until you get out of 3G range and have to try and send something via EDGE. It's a joke really. I sold mine and got a BlackBerry and couldn't be happier, and luckily most of my caching area is covered by 3G....BlackBerry+Geocache Navigator=one happy and connected cacher.
  12. Hey Charles, this is LostMontanan from Fort Smith, I met you last year at the Frog Bayou cache....anyway, I've had 3 Magellans, one was a 200 and two were 500, all eXplorists. Never had a problem. I decided one day to try a Garmin....I hated it and took it back. Last week I decided to try Garmin again, this time I bought the Colorado 300. So far it's pretty decent. I got ten finds today with it...see you on the trails!
  13. Push Options-Geocaches-Select cache-options-Show Description-options-Show Hint Kind of a quirky way to do it but that's the only way I've found. I just got the 300 Saturday...
  14. I partially retract my previous post. I forgot about the "save" feature on the Geocache app. I just wish you could save mass caches at one time, like a whole PQ, instead of having to save one at a time.
  15. Second vote for BlackBerry. I'm on a Bold (9000) and it works flawlessly. I am currently using Geocache Navigator and can find the cache, log it, and move on the next one all with the phone. I also have my Geocaching email set up with it so when a new one is published it beeps and I'm out the door. Last night one published and I had it logged inside of 30 minutes, lol. (my primary unit is a Colorado 300)
  16. Tom Tom One LE Garmin Colorado 300 Magellan eXplorist 500 (backup) Blackberry with CacheBerry iPod Touch with Geo app

  18. Thanks for the detailed reply! I should've came on here before and reported that I found out how to do it. Is much easier than I was trying to make it out to be. Especially using PQ's. Thanks again...
  19. The iPod Touch is pretty useless as a geocaching tool. There's another thread on here that shows how to use the PDF function at GC.com and an app called Air Sharing. Aside from that it's not very useful unless you cache in an area with plenty of wifi hotspots.
  20. A car model will get you close to the area the cache is in, but you'll need a handheld for getting to ground zero. You can get a basic GPS for around $100 or so...
