  1. Yes, you can use the 2nd unlock code on your Vista C. I purchased the GPS-18, and have successfully used the second unlock code on my 60Cx.
  2. Geocaching software for the Blackberry isn't really neccessary -- you can browse the web (using html format). This includes geocaching.com. You can view cache logs and make your own log entries, as long as you are in an area that supports data transfer. The newest units (8700) have the ability to use EDGE/EVDO data transfers (faster internet connections than previously available). You can check Blackberry Forums for more info on Blackberry's in general. Now - there might be a need for additional software if you want to be able to load your GPSr with location data while "out on a hunt". In an (admittedly) quick search of the web, I didn't find any such software listed.
  3. You can purchase additional "unlock" codes for each GPSr you own for each program (i.e. City Select v7). Which does indeed pad Garmin's bottom line. The unlock code is associated to your GPSr's unit ID (which is communicated to the software when you attach your GPSr to your computer).
  4. Maybe this explanation will help: You can load the City Navigator/City Select Software to as many computers as you want. 1, 2, 10, 100 computers -- it doesn't matter. You enter the unlock code on each computer that you install the software. The unlock code, however, is not to unlock the software, it is the key to your handheld unit. So, when you want to upload a map you plug your handheld into the computer. If there is an unlock code for that handheld entered into the computer, you can download maps all day long into your handheld. You can upload waypoints, tracks, routes, into the computer as well. If there is no unlock key for the handheld unit entered on that computer, then you can't do anything. No uploads, no downloads. You are SOL. PS: there is no confirm through Garmin's website. You can use the website to "restore" the unlock code, but you do not have to be connected to the internet to be able to use your handheld on on any computer (laptop, desktop, etc.). Hopefully that helps.
  5. Please, if you send an email, also ask for the units to "stream" data through the USB connection. Thanks
  6. Thrak, I don't know if you have yet imported your Geocaching waypoints into nRoute (nRoute will accept gdb, mps, gpx, and loc files), but that should be your first step. Once you have done that, select the waypoint tab (F4), click on the geocache waypoint and select the "Route to It" button. Also, as you noted, make sure nRoute is using the best map software that you own (i.e. City Select). Once you have done this, your routing should be the same as your handheld (assuming that you have the same routing configurations set in nRoute as in your handheld). The nice thing about nRoute is that it will verbally direct you without having to look at the screen. I use nRoute a lot with a GPS-18 receiver when I am travelling out of town -- gets me from the airport to hotel to resturants, offices, etc. every time (I have City Select v7 as the underlying map). I just set the laptop on the passenger seat of the rental car, turn up the volume on my laptop, and off I go. I might glance at the screen every so often to verify street names, since nRoute doesn't verbalize those (it just says "Turn Right in 300 ft" or something similar.
  7. The support guy promised me that a fix would be ready in 2 weeks , but I have no experience dealing with Garmin tech support. Especially with an issue that may involve software updates. Anybody else with comments?
  8. I believe the problem I am having with nRoute is precisely what you are describing. See my post: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=121210 where I talked to Garmin Tech Support. They are promising a fix. We'll see.
  9. I received my new 60Cx on Monday evening. The unit is working beautifully on its own, however, when attempting to connect to nRoute (via USB), the nRoute software briefly registers that the unit is connected but never gets beyond the message "Searching for Satellites". I am using nRoute v2.6.1 and my Cx software version is 2.40. I am able to transfer maps, waypoints, etc. to and from the unit using the MapSource program, so the problem does not appear to be with the USB drivers. I just called Garmin Tech Supprt and the technician, using his own equipment, verified that a problem does exist with the transfer of information between the Cx and nRoute. He told me that he was reporting the problem, and expected that a software update (either to nRoute or the Cx) would probably be forthcoming in about 2 weeks. I will post back when/if I receive further communication from Garmin. In the meantime, has anyone else encountered this problem (and maybe found a solution other than a software update)? It's not a terrible problem (for me) as the Cx unit itself is working fine (as noted above). Edit: Spelling
