  1. Is this what you are discussing? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=cb7671a5-a470-484a-bb08-774487315a37 Brian
  2. I think maybe archived caches should be listed to the extent that they were found by the cacher creating the query. It would be nice at times to get a list of my found caches to include those that have been subsequently archived. Brian
  3. Since you live in Olathe, you might see if Garmin would help you out. There is a good chance they might do it for the exposure. Brian

Some of the thickest swarms of mosquitos we have ever encounterd were in Laughlin, NV last December. Brian

  6. It must be fixed now. I see that I created 3 messages the other day when it was telling me the same thing. Brian
  7. If anyone is interested, I believe this is the cache that was being found on the NPR segment. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=9024 Olgezzer found two that day. This one was in Nebraska and the other was across the river in South Dakota. The one in South Dakota is one that my nephew and I placed some time ago. Brian
  8. Is anyone else having any trouble receiving email from geocaching.com? I have not received any notifications or Pocket Queries since 4/23. I suppose it could be on by end, but I am still receiving other email on that account. I did get the automated response back when I tried to email the site. Thanks Brian
  9. quote: _The Problem:_ The most efficient way to get a full state's worth of caches is to do a pocket query by state; however, when the state grows to more than 500 caches, you can no longer use one query to fetch all the caches. It *is* possible to segment by type, but once the state has grown past 500 traditional caches, even that becomes impossible. Using multiple overlapping radial queries is possible, but it is far from efficient in both its use of pocket queries and also its use of the database (since the queries *must* overlap and therefore *will* include duplicates, plus the distances must be calculated for each cache in each query). What works for me is to specify only the state. I then get the first 500 geocaches in chronological order. For the next 500 I use the last date of the first 500 for the starting date for the next 500. If it goes above 1000, just continue on. Hope this all makes sense. Brian
  10. I am currently working with a local county park system with hopes that they will develop a policy on geocaching in their parks. I had a long conversation this morning with the park's director of natural resources and the management seems open to the idea of geocaching. His request of me was to provide him with some contacts of parks that were allowing geocaching so that the local park might review some other parks policies. Now, my request is that if any of you have contacts with geocache friendly parks, would you please share them. Web pages and e-mail addresses are preferred but names and phone numbers are also acceptable. Any info that you could provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Brian

  14. Is anyone else having trouble using lattitude and longitude to specify the origin for their query? When I try to do this, it just leaves a blank in the form. Maybe it is someting I'm not doing correctly. Thanks Brian
  15. quote:Originally posted by Cache-Quest:I would like to get a weekly list of all my found caches in the .loc format. I have a query, but I have over 300 finds and it is only returning about 250 caches. The query requires a where and I selected all the states in the US. I wish I didn't have to specify a where at all. Did I do something wrong? Thanks, Jerry Cache-Quest Jerry You probably have the same problem as I had. I think the ones that don't show are the ones that have been archived. I was hoping to have an option to include archived caches in the data distribution. Brian

    picnic

Since it was so hot last year, we decided to try earlier this year. We had it on May 18th. That turned out to be a busy weekend for many of the locals. Here is the link for the picnic. KC Picnic After the summer is over and everyone is back from vacation, we will probably resume having occasional breakfast get togethers. They will show up as event caches on the site. Brian
  17. quote:Originally posted by Jeremy (Admin):I removed the archived and unapproved caches from the list. For some reason they slipped through. Future searches will not have them. Jeremy Jeremy Irish Groundspeak - The Language of Location I'm glad to see that archived and unapproved caches are not listed by default, but I think an option to include archived caches would be useful. I would like to create an .loc file of my finds, but anything that has been archived since we found it will not be on the list. This search feature continues to look better each day, and I have already found it to be very useful. Keep up the good work. Brian
  18. Have you checked on the Delorme website. There is an update at http://www.delorme.com/support/topousa/Topo4001.asp?D=346&Q=d&K=&P=11103&C=25 This looks like it may address some of your concerns. Brian
  19. Delorme software will allow you to create routes on the PC and then download to your garmin GPS. I haven't been able to do that with streets and trips. Brian
  20. quote:I am ready! One thing I like to do is print out a cache sheet. I use Word, and copy certain info from the cache page, and Paste Special (Unformatted) into the right side, and paste a nice topo on the left side. Maybe this program could format that text, too? So, what are enhancement ideas? Let's do it! My thought would be to have the GC#### included in the title line that goes to the note. Often the GC#### is the easiest thing to find when searching for waypoints in the GPSR. This is especially true with some of the more basic models that do not contain description fields. This information is available on the line of the html code. In fact that may be where you get the current desription. Thanks Brian
  21. The new version works great. What a timesaver. Are you ready for enhancement requests yet? Thanks again Brian
