  1. When I was a kid we hiked in to the Spanish Castle and looked it over before they flooded it. It was a popular area to find Indian arrow heads. I have often thought of hiking into the area and planting a cache in the area but I don't think I could find my way there. Nav has a cache across the river from the it. I hope the development doesn't mess with the access to his cache because that area has a lot of memories for me from my childhood also.
  2. Is it just me or is the plaid starting to get frayed around the edges from so much dragging? LOL Love to join in if I can.
  3. I think the cache a month is a fun thing for those who want to participate. I participated in it the first year. I did not commit to it last year although my hides were kept counted anyway. I personally do not have the time or the energy to be on a schedule to hide a cache on a time schedule. I will hide my caches when I have time and when I find a place I feel I would like to put one. No schedule or no commitments. If it is 1 a year or 24 a year. I hope this isn't going to get to be a if you don't hide a cache I won't either scenerio. When I started caching there were only a handful of caches in the valley. My friends and I started putting out some and new people joined in including Navigatorz. Now our valley is full of caches. But my reason for putting out a cache is not to supply anyone with a cache to find. It is because I happen to like the spot and want to share it for some odd reason, or just to do something fun. The reason for hiding your caches should be because you want to. You want to bring others to this special spot or you enjoy the fun of creating masterful puzzles, and/or it brings you pleasure. If you enjoy watching people come to your spots or doing your puzzles then keep it up. If you are only putting our caches so others will recipocate then that is the wrong reason and will not bring you any pleasure so it might be a good idea not to do it anymore. Follow your caching heart and have fun. Don't feel like you have to put out caches just for us and no one else it doing it. Put it out when you feel like it and have fun instead.
  4. Happy Birthday from your favorite Wild Wenatchee Woman. The other one isn't old enough to qualify yet! This isn't the same as jumping out of a cake but just as good. Wishing you 50 more years of good caching!
  5. Cool, calendar marked and I am already excited about this one.
  6. Got one I am willing to trade to best offer. I collect State coins, personal coins of people I have met and/or cached with and other coins I find interesting. Email me if interested!
  7. I know our major windstorm outages are small compared to what you all in the city have had to deal with. Our main concern here now is the cold that is coming and the few that are still without eletricity could have major problems with pipes freezing. Here are the pictures that I had in my first post that seemed to get blown from the thread. What goes up must come down! Only knocked the cache on the ground, so I was able to rescue it So much for that Little League dug out!
  8. It's only 363 more days till Christmas!
  9. Good question. I understand what you are saying. I have often thought the same so I have removed some of my caches that I didn't want to maintain. But in this situation I hope you do not archieve these caches. Beehive Mountain Lookout Site is kinda a signature cache for you because we all know how you like lookout towers and their locations. Devils Spur is a nice cache in a great area. I was just thinking about it a few weeks ago as we hiked in the snow in that area. (That is the area we like to hike in and get our Christmas trees.) I would like to see that cache remain. Just because some of us a have found it and it is sittling idle doesn't mean that someone might eventually come and find it. I love the rock formations you have to hike by on the way to the cache. It is a worthy location to keep a cache there. So I vote and hope that you keep them.
  10. Wow, Just another good reason for me to enjoy my side of the mountains. Smaller town less trees down, ground not so soaked with water and less people so easier to get power back up after an outage. Right now all those caches take a back seat to warmth and power.
  11. A mighty fine wind blew here last night. I am grandkid sitting as All41and Ambrosia enjoy a anniversary weekend away. The wind blew so strong around midnight I moved my granddaughter from one bed to the couch, away from the bed near the big tree. Then I went through the house shutting off computers and unplugging appliance. I can't remember hearing such a strong wind at night. The lights fluttered a few times then went out for good just before 3 am. We were only without power for about 6-7 hours. A tree about half a mile down the rode knocked down the power lines. That was the closest incident but all the schools in the area were closed for the day. We had previously received a lot of snow but the wind took care of that. So now we have to hope for more snow soon. I am so glad we only have windstorms like that in our area about once every ten years or so.
  12. Ahhh, they are no problem. Just tell them what your doing and you'll be okay.
  13. Yeah, they found me again, Saturday night. We were looking for a ODS micro and up pulls the Forest Ranger lights flashing. Instead of cuffing me he tried to help us find it but we didn't find it until after he left. I am beginning to think I am setting a record for how many times the law has came by when I night cache.
  14. Sounds like you had a marvelous trip. Kinda like we did when visiting New Zealand and Australia several years ago. Problem was when we visited your fair land geocaching wasn't a sport yet. Now I have an added desire for a return visit.
  15. I sent him an email telling him about the forum thread. Other than that and contacting him through his caching account is the best you can do. I do not feel I can give out his email address without his approval.
  16. Congrats to all of you milestoners. Fun to share the special moments with Ambrosia and Weightman.
  17. Just another shot of the one guilty of acheiving her milestone
  18. Looks like Allanon has graciously agreed to let me ride with him so it looks like I will be able to join the party. See ya all tomorrow. Smiles
  19. Ohhhhh, I do so want to go, but, I am making a trek to Walla Walla, on Sunday. These areas are practically on opposite ends of the state. Can I handle a driving to Whidbey and the hike for the celebration and 1 cache and then get home midnightish, get up the next am and drive to Walla Walla for a day of caching and an event and get home again midnightish? If I do so I am looking at 7 hours of driving on each of those days. Whew, I am already wore out! ~ What to do , oh, what to do?
  20. Hey guys, thanks for helping me rescue my cache. It sure was a fantastic day to be out hiking in the mountains though don't ya think. Sorry bout the bad roads. I had a fun day and enjoyed to company even though you two left TA & me behind on the way back. Allanon and I saw a cute little rockchuck picking grass and taking it to his sweetheart sitting on a rock down below. It was fun listening to them talk. I did remove the cache after everyone logged it. The road is to rough to travel for me to maintain it even though it was in a wonderful view spot. Maybe someone else will put a cache up there someday. I plan on going back there soon and hike in to Lake Josephine. Wanna join me?
  21. Just some clearification for me please. Is the Alpine center the one at the top of the pass or do you mean the one that is part way up Mill Creek Rd? I would rather not have to backtrack up to the top of the pass when we are through with the caches. So I was thinking the one partway up the Millcreek road. Either there or at the beginning of the road. 10 am. I will be there. See ya.
  22. Alpine center would be great. Lake Josephine will be a 1&1/2 mile in so we are looking at a 3 mile round trip for that one and then there is another new one up there . I don't know if we can get both or not. Is 10:00 am to early or do you want to meet around 11:00 am. Let me know what you think.
  23. Rentakid has several of these in the CleElum area. There are some in the Quincy area DustyLake and Ancient Lake area. Then up around Brewster and Omak I have seen some caches great for horseback.
  24. Looks like a party of three. Anyone else want to join us. I think a FTF just might be available for us. You need high clearance and 4 wheel to make it. It is not as scary a drive as The World As Runhills Likes to See It, although it presents its own challenges. Oh yeah, Congratulations of finishing the DeLorme RWW.
  25. I would be happy to meet you near Bygone Byways and if your game to take your cachemobile up a rocky 4x4 road we could do a about three caches and plant one up there. I need to do some work on 4x4 Delight and want to get the new cache near Lake Josephine plus hide a new one or two up there. Are you game?
