  1. I'm coming over to the wetside for the event in Mt Vernon on the 8th of September. I would love to make a early morning ferry ride to get Mt. Constitution and a few others on the Island before heading back for the event. Any one want to go with me to get a Fire Lookout and share the ferry cost. Would love to have some company.
  2. Go go Gadget! Congrats on an impressive achievement, and on having the time to do it. I admit I was kinda rooting for Patudles to beat the boys, but your FTF is well-deserved! Thanks for the vote and congrats to Gadget on this accomplishment. I think he ate, drank and slept lookouts towards the end of completion. I know his busy work time is almost upon him and he wanted to complete this challenge before the potato season began. He was even out caching in the dark on one or two of them and I would hate to have his fuel bill. WAY TO GO, Gadget, on a job well done.
  3. I was taught not to eat the berries and other fruit from the center piece bowl on the dining table. Turns out they were plastic. Not much flavor, but real chewy.
  4. The berry eating rule that I was raised by: Blue and purple berries - SAFE to eat Red berries - CAUTION - be sure and know your berries White berries - POISION - stay away from
  5. We grazed our way on HB's as we hiked to "Mountain Meadow Majesty" and "Valhalla" when we hiked in from the top of Stevens Pass.
  6. Ohh.. Something that I'd like to do. I'll start throwing a list together... The Steaks After a few hours Hopefully it'll be published. GC12V50 is its GC Code. The Steaks Whoa, what just happened? I've sent you everything and the listing did NOT get published so the hate mail can stop. The way that I read it was that it was open for someone to do. Sorry for the misunderstanding. The Steaks I appologize to the Steaks for my hasty unkind words about hoping the challenge was not published. I also misread intentions. I am known for speaking before thinking and I am sorry for any injurious (if that is not a word it should be) words.
  7. Ohh.. Something that I'd like to do. I'll start throwing a list together... The Steaks After a few hours Hopefully it'll be published. GC12V50 is its GC Code. The Steaks Whoa, what just happened? Looks like someone is dealing from the bottom of the deck. That is what I call a dirty deal. Taking your idea right out from under you and flying with it. I hope it does not get approved.
  8. Thanks for the info. As long as I can get to the caches from my side I am okay. It happens that I don't have to go to Renton as planned. Yeah, now I can spend more time caching. If I can't get to that area from my side I will check out and see if I can get to any area 6 lookout towers from here instead. Appreciate the warning.
  9. You go girl, come and go caching with Robinego and me. We'd love to help you pass him!
  10. I am going out Sunday the 29th somewhere south. I will be doing a combo of lookout caches & highest elevation caches. AT the moment I am leaning towards doing caches along Hwy 12. These would include: Barbecued Lolipop, Geocache by Waterboss, The Howling, Wolf Pack, Real Estate with a View. These all fall in one challenge or the other. There are other caches along the road but I don't know what time will allow.
  11. Wow, wasn't it just not much over a year ago we met you two as newbies on the bike ride from the top of the pass to Cle Elum. Way to go!
  12. Yeah, I know you just wish you could come along too. But you have to be the NURSE that day. We will miss you!
  13. That is what M10B said. I think that is a fair adjustment. It would be easier to complete if it was done as Navigatorz suggested but I don't think easy is the object of this challenge. Especially when we have many of the caches overlap the Fire Tower challenge. By having to keep up with the current highest 100 adds a bit of extra challenge and I am willing to go for it as long as I can afford the gas.
  14. No wonder I don't call, Who likes to hear, "Mom, it's THAT woman on the phone, she probably want to go geo-caching AGAIN! Please Brian, come join me on the hunt. They are all practically drive by caches cause I am nursing a knee right now and am no good for walking much.
  15. How about a three-fer? Since you're going to be on Hiway 410, drive on over Chinook Pass and near Greenwater drive up to Sun Top Lookout. One of my favorite lookouts due to its close proximity to Mt. Rainier. I have Suntop on my to do list but I didn't realize it was close enough to that area. If it is I would love to make it a threefer. How early do you think I need to hit the road to be all done and in Renton by 5-5:30 in the afternoon?
  16. Okay, I have a plan. I have found a fire tower lookout cache that is also in the top 40 highest caches. I plan on going to it this Sunday am. I have to be in Renton by 5:30 Sunday evening so I thought I would go after this one on the way over. The cache is "Wolfpack" and is over 6300 feet. It is in area 5. Who wants to come join me in the hunt. Flutey, Logbear is more than welcome to come along. I have never limited my self to caching with just the chicks. I only made the reference above because it is harder for a family person to get away and have geocaching time when the spouse doesn't cache. When I answer to no one for my free time. So anyone wanting to join me let me know. No one has gone after this cache since 2005 so it is time for another hit.
  17. Hey, chose your priorities: Husband - naw (to much bother) Kids - naw (they can work out their own problems) Job - naw (Forget that weekend work stuff) gas - car 30 + MPG wear & tear on car - caching - Sure would have been a bunch more fun had you been along though. (I've missed ya)
  18. The hazards of caching Lamp skirts and guardrails have the hazards of wasps Of which my hand is still swollen from being stung by one three days ago and I wasn't even caching at the time. So I guess I will take the hazards of the mountains anyday along with the beauty. Just wish I had some company. Three of the Fire towers I did this weekend I was alone and it was not nearly as pleasurable. Yesterday I had my grandson with me on Mt. Spokane and it was much more fun. Mt. Spokane will probably not stay on the top 100 list but it sure was a pleasure to have pavement all the way up and the views we wonderful. It really is worth the trip. One of the best things about it though was the fact that half way up I realized I forgot to stop and fill up with gas before heading up. Gas light came on near the top on the way down and Costco was only a little over 6 miles away by road. Whew!
  19. How interesting about the yearly burn restriction. I know of other roads that are closed during high fire season but I had never noticed Burch Mt. road being included in that. I am sure I have been up that road during those months in the past. I guess all you can do is post the warning because it is probably still open to mountain bikers. So it depends on how badly they want those caches. Me I will wait till fall.
  20. Whoopeeee! And this is the summer my knee starts giving me fits. Hmmmmmm. Have to do the drive by high ones this year and go for the hiking ones as soon as my knee loosens up again.
  21. And here I was thinking how comfortable they look. The next best to being barefoot!
  22. Shhhh, don't tell, Lucy thought the bears were after her again.
  23. Whoo hooo, I just did two of those new ones last week. "Put Junk in your Trunk" and "Sweet Grass". So far I am gaining. But the question is for how long? There is a fire in the area of "Put Junk in your Trunk" right now. It started by lightning shortly after Lucy and I found it on the 13th. So that one will be unavailable for awhile.
  24. Oi! Did you change it yourself? Or how far where you from help? I've lost count of how many flats I've had on Hydi, many in pursuit of caches. The last was at Spokane CM, but yes, I remember well that impressive flat on the steep dirt road above Lake Chelan last summer.... Yuppers, Check out the pics on the cache site. We were way up the mountain and no one to help so we did it ourselves midst the rain and cowpies. It had been years since Lucy had changed a tire and eons since I had. When we got back down we went to the nearest town (Twisp) and had them check the lug nuts to make sure they were on tight enough for Lucy long drive home. They confirmed we did a good job on that end.
