I've had my GARMIN60CSx for a little over 3 months now (just long enough to be out of Cabela's 90 day electronics return policy) and love it for geocaching. We were on a cruise to Mexico last week and looking forward to doing some caching when the on/off switch broke. I had the unit turned on, noting our location at sea, then I couldn't turn it off. I had to take the batteries out to shut it off and the switch hasn't worked since. Can't tell you how bummed I was. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem with this unit. Any input would be appreciated; especially if anyone has had experience with Garmin's tech support.

I read through that a couple of times today; then re-read it again and figured it out. In the Heading Setup, the display had to be changed. It works the way I want it to now. Thanks.

Just getting my new Garmin GPSMap 60CSx running that I got as a combination birthday/father's day gift. This is the one that I've wanted for a long time as I've been Geocaching for quite a while now with a Magellan eXplorist 400 that I've been able to keep running. Anyhow, in trying to tinker with some of the settings with the Garmin, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get it to give me a numerical heading on the Compass page. Whether I set it up as heading or bearing it gives me a directional reading with letters (N,S,E,W etc...). Just wondering if anyone would be able to give me some input. Other than that I'm please with how everything else works. I will be working to get the geocaches working next and was going to use GSAK as I always have. Any input anyone would have to make this setup easier would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ken.

Having the same problem trying to get caches along a route working for our vacation next week. I will keep trying.

I just found out that I have the 32 bit Vista. Maybe there is hope for me yet. Ken

Thanks for all the input so far everyone. I'm not sure if I have the 32 or the 64 bit Vista but my guess would be the 64 since it's so new (I'll check when I get home). Still, not that I want to give up on CacheMate but does anyone have an alternative that works well with GSAK and a Palm Z22 just in case thats my next option? Ken

I'm Geocaching with a Magellan eXplorist 400, using GSAK and CacheMate with a PalmZ22. Everything worked perfectly until my home PC crashed and had to be replaced. Unfortunately we picked up a new machine with Windows Vista and now I have problems. GSAK and my GPS are working fine, however I'm having a problem getting the information into my Palm. The Palm forums tell me that the problem is with CacheMate and CacheMate (Smittyware) tells me it's Palm. I tend to believe the problem is with CacheMate and am not expecting this to be cured anytime soon. Here's my question; has anyone else run across this problem and how have they solved it.....or is it time to bail on CacheMate and use something else on my Palm Z22 for paperless Geocaching (and if that's the case, what else works)? Any input would be greatly appreciated as we're going on vacation in a couple of weeks and want to go Geocaching. Thanks, Ken.

Why are you getting rid of the eXplorist 400? I just started having difficulties with mine (the on/off switch is failing) and have been looking at the forums about what others would recommend.

Just thought I would throw this out there for some input from others. I've got a Magellan eXplorist 400 that I'm comfortable working and understand. The on/off switch has been giving me difficulties for the past couple of months; now the little button is broke enough that I can see how it's made. I've contacted Magellan and they want upwards of $55.00 to repair it. I'm wondering if this unit is worth putting any money into or should I just get another one, then what kind. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
