As the topic says I have my Garmin etrex Legend Cx up for sale as I upgraded to a Legend HCx. It is being sold with the Mapsource City Select North America v7 and Trips and Waypoint Manager software. This GPS has the second software unlock so there are no more without paying Garmin. It also comes with the 64Mb microSD card, lanyard, USB cable, manual, clip thingy and box. This is almost a year old and hasn't seen a whole lot of use. The Garmin "world" emblem is showing a little wear and the glue that holds the surrounding rubber is not holding so well at the top. The screen and case have no scratches or gouges. I am looking for $150 plus shipping from 72712. I can be contacted at tholt at telaid dot com Thank you for looking

your opinion and help please "etrex Legend HCX"
k1w1t1m replied to Ima's topic in GPS technology and devices
I love my Legend HCx. This is my third Legend, I started with the old blue Legend (B&W screen), traded up to the Legend Cx, and now to the HCx. The additional sensitivity is very noticeable when I have it on in the house or car. With both older Legends if they weren't near the window they'd loose satelite lock. I anticipate caching under tree cover or in the concrete canyons will be a lot easier come summer. I feel I should point out that I traded up for the improvements not because there was something wrong with the older units. I hope their owners are having as much fun with them as I did. -

What Kind Of Vehicle Do You Drive While Geocaching

Here's mine. Unfortunately it's only a driveway shot. '07 Xterra -
My wife and I bought each other GPSs for Christmas. We found about 150 caches the first year and about 50 the second year. We met the goal we set of 200 in two years with a couple of extras for this year. We cache when we want to.

Is this item sold? Still available. Will sell for $175 plus shipping. Perhaps I didn't make my post clear about the software. The unit comes with the software and is unlocked for the software, CSv7. My wife also has a Legend Cx and has used the other unlock code for hers. -
How do you know exactly how far you actually walked? What was your reference? I apologise. I was looking at the speeds and the compass rose and saw that they were working at less than 1 mph. Prior to the download they wouldn't work under 2mph. The tracklog has never been something I used so I never paid attention to it.

Since this thread seems to be the one that's stayed alive, I'd like to point out that this update "seems" to have worked on my Legend HCx. I walked down the street and saw speeds of less than 1mph.

Which car mount for the Garmin Vista HCX?
k1w1t1m replied to whartonia's topic in GPS technology and devices
I like the Garmin one that came with my Legend HCx bundle. It is a suction cup type for on the windshield but comes with a disk for the dash. It also utilizes the clip that I wondered what it was for with my old Legend Cx. -
I sent my first Vista C in and got a different unit back. It was returned promptly and Garmin even transferred the waypoints I had on the other one, although I had saved those on my computer before sending it back. I would have preferred if they had fixed mine, even if it took longer to return it, because I had one of those $10.00 Invisible Shields on the screen . . . Did they give you a new unlock code?

I leave "lock on road" on. When I get close to a cache I "recalculate" and select "off road" at the prompt. Then I usually go to the compass screen.

Geocaching has to be one of the cheapest. The GPS cost gets divided because it's used for travel/directions etc. not just caching. My geocaching vehicle is also my daily driver so it's cost is spread. The only real cost that can be counted against geocaching is the gas used for caching. PC/Laptop no cost to me....it's my work laptop and I wouldn't have bought a PC/laptop just for geocaching. Swag....nothing I don't usually trade Caches....about $20-30 when I find a good place to hide one. Nothing except the container if it's a micro. Definitely a cheap hobby and to think of all the places geocaching has taken me that I wouldn't have any idea about otherwise.

Kind of hypocritical don't you think? I notice the OP made sure they got their smiley so it can't have been as bad as they say.

My cachemobile has been upgraded to a '07 Nissan Xterra. The wife and I love it. Soon we'll be going for those caches that require 4x4. -
I didn't read all the posts but who checked the MSRP? Garmin doesn't offer the Vista anymore so they didn't have a price for that. However both x models in the OP are less than the MSRP at Wal-Mart.

Have you unlocked it and is the card "clicked" into it's slot?
-
Maybe I won't dream of a 60Cx. I have an Etrex Legend Cx, routing is good and when on the USB or in the car with the power cord plugged in (from a Razr phone) the light will stay on.

Uploading to GPS... still clueless
k1w1t1m replied to nonamesleft's topic in GPS technology and devices
I know with my Garmin I download geocaching waypoints to EasyGPS and then to my GPS. Unless things have changed I couldn't use the Garmin software for geocahes.
