Looks like a nice GPS. I'm looking for a very basic one to share between the other members in my team. How are geocaches/waypoints loaded onto it? (serial, usb, manual?) If you don't mind me asking, about how much are you hoping to get for this? (so I know whether or not I should bother) hybridgeek

Wow, way to blow my comment out of proportion...I mean, I just said what it looked like to me, but your statement was pretty angry ... "if you are dumb enough" ... "your not smart enough" I understand it's a holiday coin, but the colors just don't look good, and I said it was an initial thought, my main point remains, remove the colors and make the deer larger to take up a bit more space. And hybridgeek, chill out, take a breath or two before you post a comment like that. As I said before, this is just my opinion. Woah there sir_zman, I didn't mean it to be a personal attack on you or anything. I meant it as a general comment, if perhaps someone has any notions that it could cause a lawsuit (bring gay pride into things) or whatnot. I didn't realize I sounded so angry there. Sorry about that. Again, I didn't mean it to be a personal attack on anyone here, but more so as a warning for those who make stupid comments (like those that might post "That coin has gay pride, it's dumb"... and that's all they write... I've seen people post like that here).

The bronze is so beautiful! Thanks!
-
I didn't even notice the geocaching colors. I don't think they look like a rainbow at all. I like the design. As for the gay pride theory, well, it's in a series of Christmas/holiday coins, if you are dumb enough to think the one coin has something to do with gay pride, you're not smart enough to be a geocacher! (I am NOT saying this at Ranger216 (see quote above); my remark is directed in general towards anyone who may think that exclusively)

I don't have a picture, but it was set flush with the bridge, on one corner of it, near the date block; it was on top of the side peice. Thanks for the help. I guess I'll give the WSSC a call at some point. I'm not sure it's important enough to me just to have another logged benchmark to really want to call the WSSC. I'm sure they know about it. I'll see... I'll post here if I do and it becomes official (for those Marylanders who want to log it or have attempted to log it). -hybridgeek

I found a benchmark a while back on a bridge near my house that doesn't appear on gc.com, and doesn't appear to exist in the NGS databases (via the links on the benchmarking page). The benchmark is in Gaithersburg, MD, where Rt-355 crosses Great Seneca Creek. The coordinates are: 39 9.948N 077 13.677W Attached are two pictures. What should I do about this one? Perhaps someone knows how to work the NGS system better? Thanks, Hybridgeek
-
It's not exactly the weirdest, but while searching for a cache, I found a letterbox. It was a regular one, not a letterbox hybrid, so it didn't appear on gc.com. We thought it was a geocache at first, but then realized it wasn't, but couldn't believe it was so exposed and ill-marked (markings were worn away).

Stories with police questioning you
hybridgeek replied to nameless301's topic in General geocaching topics
I haven't had any encounters with full time law enforcement, but I did get questioned by a security officer for a hotel where a stage for a multi was placed nearby. He came out and said people had been going into the lobby saying there were strange people looking around the bushes on the edge of the parking lot. After I explained geocaching to him and what we were doing, he oked us for the hunt to continue. We didn't find the stage that day, but went back another day and found it; we gave the hotel desk people a brief overview of geocaching before we started out again, to head off any complaints. -
Hey all, Does anyone know where to get those oval Geo-Geocoins? I think they have a white and black background possible. I've seen them on ebay, but can't seem to find them anywhere on the forums (the search tool doesn't work too well). Searching Google was fruitless too. Thanks, hybridgeek

Let me know if any of the x5's become available again please. I'm interested in one. Thanks -Hybridgeek

It seems some people do in fact do this, but it is frowned upon. I haven't discovered any geocoins in my journies yet, but when I do, I'd really like them to be a physical coin to hold. It would also help keep me from dropping the picture and forgetting it at the site. As for more opinions, this has been discussed before: A link to another conversation on these forums Coin replicas discussion Hope that helps! Hybridgeek

This coin looks awesome! I'd like to get a silver one, but I'm wondering, does the silver one state it's silver purity (e.g. .999) and that it is one troy oz? There seem to be no pictures of the back posted for the gold or silver coins. -hybridgeek

This is one beautiful coin. I wish I had ordered more. :-(

Looks like a great idea!

There are so many already posted, and without thoroughly reading them, and at the risk of repeat: Twelve new caches! Twelve last cache visits! Twelve merry cachers! Those are my bits! I hope I didn't repost anyone elses; if so, just ignore me. -hybridgeek

Expensive coin, but looks awesome, so put me down for an antique copper and a black nickel. I didn't see any place that listed what metals the coin would come in, so let me know if it isn't available in either of those (I've seen other people post with similar requests). -hybridgeek

As an avid Penguin supporter, I like the coin! I'm not sure what is up with the "Return to Earth" part, but the Penguin is cute. If anyone gets a chance, or is interested in making another penguin coin, a coin with any of these penguin designs below would get a ton of buys from me! (Especially the one on the far right...so cute!) (All images are cut from Linux wallpapers. I make no assertion of ownership or design. All images are copyright their respective owners.)

I have no attachment to Bavaria, nor have I ever been there... but I may just have to get one of these coins and plan an international trip to do some caching there! The coin looks great! (and it's definitely convincing)
-
I would definitely go for at least 3 of these, if not more!
-
I'll go for one of these as well. Great design! -hybridgeek
