  1. OH! That's a good idea. Thanks for the great information. On a side note, we lost power here Sunday night due to a bad storm and only got it back today. Sorry for the late response. I use my phone for the app but don't really use my phone for internet otherwise. Of course, power or no power, I had to keep my short streak going.
  2. I have only been using the app for a few weeks and only because I've found it easier to figure out than my five year old GPS. I still log everything on the website. Thanks for the help!
  3. I hope it's okay to post on this thread. I've been looking for information on friend requests. I sent two friend requests but I'm not sure how to tell if they have been accepted. Also, I'm not even sure what friend requests do! Thanks for any help.
  4. Haha...that one took me a moment! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I thought of another question (for you or whomever would like to reply). On a caching streak, if I were to forget to log a cache and enter it the next day, would it count for the previous day or would it end my streak? I always plan to log that day, and so far, I have, but I was wondering.
  5. I'm a huge SpongeBob fan. My avatar is Spongbob and Patrick hiding out in a clubhouse and I thought that looked rather like hiding a geocache. Here's how I got my Geocaching name:
  6. Thanks, everyone! These comments and advice are very helpful!
  7. Thanks so much; that was very helpful!
  8. Hello! I'm back to geocaching after a five year hiatus. I'd say I'm still quite new, however, since I think I only had about 35 finds my first time around and a total of 65 or so total. I've been reading the forums and did some searches but would still like some help, if that's okay. Challenges and streaks: I see a lot of people talking about the Mass 360 challenge and the Mass 351 challenge (I'm in New England). Where would I find information about these challenges and others? I'm also wondering about streaks. I see people talking about having as long a streak as possible, some up to a year of daily cache finds or even longer. Is this a challenge of some sort, or just something that people decide to do? DNFs: Do DNFs count against you in any way, or do they just not count toward the found count? I'm just curious about that. Archived caches: If a cache is found and logged, does it become void if that cache is archived? Log/cache maintenance: I've noticed people logging their finds and mentioning that they replaced the log if it was wet or full or had some other issue. Are we all supposed to be replacing logs? I wouldn't even know where to get a new log. What about the full or wet log? Does the CO want it back? These are just a few of the things I've been wondering about. Thanks very much for any help.
  9. Goodness, I'm not sure why but I didn't see your post the first (or second!) time around. Thanks for the detailed information...it's much appreciated!
  10. Ahhh...brilliant, thanks! I suppose it's rather cool that it traveled from the USA all the way to South Africa; I imagine I should just let it go where it may! (now that I'm over the, 'OMG! What's going on?!' moment)
  11. Thanks so much! I appreciate the reassurance and the advice.
  12. Ohhhh...I just read the blurb written by the original owner. I haven't done anything with the coin and didn't realize that he put out a copy to travel. So I guess I wouldn't be able to send the coin out, ever, since it's already out there, in a manner of speaking? It says I can use: TBV7RF to reference the coin! ETA: I'm thinking I should update the coin's page? And if so, I'm not sure how to go about doing that...I don't see any place to edit it.
  13. Hello! I bought two geocoins from a member here on the forum and he transferred them to me. I just received an email stating that the coin is in South Africa! I have it upstairs with my geo-stuff so it can't be in South Africa! I'm so confused...any thoughts? Also, I know I'm not supposed to post the code...should I post something else for reference? Thank you! ETA: Okay, sorry...not sure if there is a way to delete my posts. I guess I should have 'researched' a bit before posting in a panic, lol. I never really paid attention to the coin's page as I figured since I had the coin in my possession, there wouldn't be any current travels for it. I think I get it now.
  14. Good to know! I have so much still to learn. Fortunately, my husband wasn't injured but I about had a heart attack as I watched him, quite literally ROLL down a nearby rock hill (well, a hill loaded with rocks, anyway, lol).
  15. Thank you for the link and advice! I'm always interested in learning more.
  16. Hmmm...okay. Thanks for the replies. The extra info doesn't add anything useful, really, so I just won't add it. Maybe I'll find a 'did you ever get injured while caching?' thread and add it there, lol.
  17. Sorry to bump this up but I thought it would be better to bump that to start a new thread(?). I posted a long log but edited it way down b/c I remembered that it will show on GPS and phones and will take up space, IIRC. I saved my other comments but would still like to share them...just not sure how to make a log note (I searched the forum and hunted around the cache page). TY!
  18. Thanks ever so much. I did make a note of the tracking number, as suggested earlier in this thread (maybe by you? I'm on my iPod and have a hard time navigating!). I'll try to post a pic on the log tomorrow. Thanks again.
  19. Brilliant, thanks! How about posting a picture? I received an email from the TB owner and she was happy with the TB's travels...and mentioned that it's nice to post a picture when possible. I did take a pic of one cache area that the TB visited but am not sure how to post it. Okay, I guess I could have just said, 'How do I post a picture?', lol. Thanks for any help.
  20. Sorry to bump this up but I dropped the TB off and can't find where to write a note after the fact. I'd like to say something about it and not just have dropped it off. Thank you! ETA: ahhh...I found it, sorry. It under the 'found it? log it!' tab...the 'write note' option comes up then.
  21. The CO for one of my (many!) DNFs sent me an email with helpful hints and I was very grateful. I've never emailed a CO and would probably not (but wouldn't mind more emails after I log DNFs, hehe!). I don't see anything wrong with it...the worst they could do is either not respond or say 'no!'.
  22. Thanks so much, everyone! I'm not one of the cool kids so I don't have a phone app. Thanks...that was probably the first (or second?) thing I learned but always good to have a reminder! I don't know how to block out numbers so I just won't post pictures (then again, I don't know how to post pictures either!).
  23. Brilliant, thank you! I was quite sure another log should be made when the TB is dropped off but couldn't seem to find that information. Thanks also for the tip about jotting down the TB number for reference.
  24. Sorry to start a new thread but I really want to be sure I understand and complete the steps correctly. I found a TB today (hooray!) and took it with me. I just plugged the code in and it came up just fine and was listed in the cache that I found it in. I should log it as 'retrieved' from said cache, correct? I will also make a short note on the log. Then what? From what I'm reading I should try to help with its mission and then put in a new cache but I don't log about putting it in a new cache(?). Do I have this right? I read all the information over and over so I'm probably making it more difficult than it really is...I hope? Thanks so much!
  25. Goodness, yes, of course! I will add that I already love what I'm seeing on this GPS! Once I really know what I'm doing, there won't be any stopping me! Thank you again!
