  1. I use this free program "i-cache" which is a geocaching database. Pretty cool! http://www.bigskycachers.com/
  2. Golfing is a very challenging game/sport that you may spend a lifetime playing but never can master. The majority of amateur golfers rarely score below 90. It’s the thrill of trying to improve your game that keeps one coming back for more. Not too different from Geocaching once you have been bitten by the game. I work part time for a golf course so I can play for free so the money aspect doesn’t affect me. I thoroughly enjoy both of these games at this time in my life. Who knows what may happen ten years from now!
  3. See if this will help you. http://www.mdgps.org/modules.php?name=Cont...=showpage&pid=1 An easy way is to run a Pocket Query, use CMconvert to change your Zip Pocket Query file to a PDB format that your Palm will recognize. If you want to download individual GPX files one at at time just save them in a location and then run CMconvert on those files which will convert the GPX file to a PDB file that your Palm will recognize.
  4. Thanks Hermit Crabs! I've got the Legend and never realized that I could change those 2 fields. I'm going to try this mode next time out!
  5. Look at these links to get an idea of what they will do for you. http://www.mdgps.org/modules.php?name=Cont...=showpage&pid=1 http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/marklent60544...llgcfaq.htm#Tri http://www.easygps.com The first link is a good article on going paperless with the Palm. The second one is Markwell's FAQ on how to set up a Pocket Query. The third is a link for EasyGps which is free. I use a Palm IIIx, Cachemate, EasyGPS and found that this is all I ever needed. There are a lot more programs out there with bells and whistles but I don't think you can go wrong with this approach as a start!
  6. I actually prefer to use yards instead of feet. I golf all the time and I find it much easier for me to judge the distance by the yardage that is being displayed. A pitching wedge away or a 7 iron
  7. I have the Palm IIIx and etrex Legend both of which use a serial cable. I not only have to switch serial cables but I also have to close down the hot sync manager each time before I download to the Legend.
  8. I'm new at this Google Earth stuff. How do I get the geocaches to appear on the google earth maps? Go to your "My Account" page on geocaching.com and download the link on the bottom right side. Download Geocache browser in Google Earth http://www.geocaching.com/kml/buildnetworkkml.aspx
  9. My screen name is the title of a song that my wife and I sing to our granddaughter who is 19 months old. Skidamarink a dink a dink, Skidamarink a doo, I love you. Skidamarink a dink a dink, Skidamarink a doo, I love you. I love you in the morning And in the afternoon, I love you in the evening And underneath the moon; Oh, Skidamarink a dink a dink, Skidamarink a doo, I love you!
  10. Cachenmate works great for me. I'm even using an old PalmIIIx with 8mb. http://www.mdgps.org/modules.php?name=Cont...=showpage&pid=1 http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/marklent60544...ocaching/pq.htm
