  1. I get the same error with my blackberry when I have Java scripts enabled. If I have them off, I can't access everything (like cache hints)
  2. I can no longer decode the hints on my blackberry - I get a java script error - However when I enable java scripts I get "HTTP Error 413:Request Entity Too Large" on every geocaching page.
  3. A great earth science activity to do outside is EarthCaching. Get more information at http://www.earthcache.org/. As a part of geocaching — a geographical adventure game for Global Positioning System (GPS) users to cache and find locations with actual hidden items — an EarthCache adventure is treasure hunting for the geological “caches” that the Earth has deposited. EarthCache sites do not use stored containers; their treasure is the geoscience lessons people learn about our planet when they visit the sites. http://www.dnr.wa.gov/RecreationEducation/...es/esw2008.aspx The events for Earth Science week were in October. They might prefer this type of geocaching then ours were a container is left behind.
  4. Yes- they found it first so they get a FTF I would not delete there log but don't think they were smart about putting the time they found it in their log.
  5. My GPS will hold 1000 caches at one time. I may be anywhere around my area in a given day and would like to load the 1000 closests unfound traditional caches to my home. The first 500 are easy (because that is what is allowed in a PQ), the next 500 are tricky. -I can't set up a PQ that ignores the results from the first PQ. - I can't pick another point for reference because the next 500 caches will be in all directions. -I can't even pick 2 points in opposite directions that meet in the middle. (If I pick a location North of my house and one south of my house - it would ignore the caches east and west) I don't need 5 PQ of 500 per day. I just want 1 of 1000 and the ability to do others if I am going to be way out of my area.
  6. I have a few bookmark lists that are over 50 caches. Some are quite a bit more than that. Often (but not always) they get stuck on the first page of caches. Even when the page list says that I am on page 4 it only shows page 1 caches. If I completely get out of the bookmark page and re-enter, it sometimes fixes (but not always). This happens close to 75% of the time I use my large bookmarks.
  7. I still have not got some querries from 48 hours ago. Thought the site was just too busy with everyone running pqs for Christmas trips. I have comcast too, so my problem might be there.
  8. Today on my way home from work, I ended up following a white Honda CRV plate 997 ROA. It has a Groundspeak sticker on the back window and a geocaching licence plate holder. I was on Hwy 18 and we both got off at the Covington exit at about 6:15 tonight. Was this you?
  9. If there is a way to do this on the geocaching site, please let me know.... I use the map to do searches in areas that I am in from the road (where I don't have access to GSAK or mapping software). I'd like a way to eliminate the found/hidden caches from the map. (Sort of like you do on the list page) This way it only will show the caches I have left to do in an area. Right now I either have to map small areas (to only get 20 caches at a time - where I have already found 19 of them), or sort through pages of caches to find the few I have not done in the area. I'd like to be able to choose one of these options and only have these caches mapped.... ...nearby caches of this type, that I haven't found ...all nearby caches, that I haven't found
  10. I will say that I have exchanged some e-mails about this challenge with the owner and I'm sure you can tell that I disagree with some of the decisions made. She has always been extreemly nice to me in all our contact, much more so than if I was in her place. I have nothing but good things to say about the owner of this (and all of the other) challenges. This topic was started to talk about ideas and changes of the cache. I hope people don't see me taking issue with some of the rules on this cache as having issues with the owner - that just isn't true.
  11. Hydnsek I appreciate the possitive way in which you presented your arguments. However, I guess we might need to agree to disagree on this challenge. I asked for my overrated cache to be disqualified and was turned down. "Cache owners have authority over their own caches, and if they wish to exclude them, for whatever reason, from whatever secondary event/challenge/etc., that's their perogative." isn't the case here. Also, if you go back and look at the original Fizzy challenge, there are not all of the additional rules and qualifications as in the Washington challenge. There are not any judgements made about what caches should or shouldn't qualify. I would like this cache to be true to the cache that it is trying to copy - one with less rules or judgements about fairness. We all play the game differently. We can make our own judgements on which caches should or shouldn't qualify on our own bookmark lists. I have "." (GCRXQN)listed as my 1/1. It is way underrated as well. Does this really make up for an overrated cache I might have on my list? How is an underated 5/5 cache not acceptable but an underrated 5/2.5 cache is OK? How can you fill a grid when a 5/3.5 is available but not required? We already have talked about overrated and underrated caches being acceptable. This is a Sassy&Gordy cache not one by owned by Flutey. There is a missing part of "Well Rounded" without it - unless you find another cache that qualifies. Some of the catagories have only one or two caches that qualify for that rating. They all may get muggled or archieved and by the rules can not be replaced by newer caches. By eliminating other caches (for any reason)just makes this cache more subjective and tougher to complete. I'd just prefer to keep any challege as objective as possible
  12. I really do like the idea on this challenge. It looks like a fun quest. I do have concerns about the limitations being put out about which caches qualify and which caches do not. There are thousands of caches that are not rated correctly and we can even argue about what is the correct rating is for many caches with no real solution. I understand the requirement that the cache must have been available before this challenge was issued (we wouldn't want people to put out misleading caches just to fulfill the requirements) but I disagree with some of the other restrictions. If a cache was already in the system at a certain rating before this cache was put out - they should qualify. Even at the request of the owners - Both of these caches should qualify: GCKFFG -- The Hardest Cache You'll Ever Do by ohjoy! GCV5EV -- Madame Defarge Takes Up Crochet by Hoppingcrow The new cache GC13YM7 should be required. The object is to fill up the grid - right I also have a cache rated higher than it should be GCZ752. It is rated a 2/4.5. It is really a 2/2 (but the joke was that you thought you needed to go up the mountain to get the cache). Should we eliminate that one too? I can point to many others that are not rated correctly. We can start looking at the 4/4 caches - should they really be 4/4.5 caches? I know at least one cacher that lowered the ratings on caches based on this challenge (ones that I think are now rated incorrectly) This should be FUN. The object should be to fill the grid - Period. Once you start eliminating caches, you open up the can of worms on the entire rating system. Yes, I did go out of my way to get both of the above caches - before they were eliminated. I don't like that they are now eliminated nor do I like the idea of others being added to the list (after I spend the gas money and time to go after them). Congrats Hydnsek - but should she be worried that one of the caches she used to qualify will be disqualified next week (so she no longer qualifies for the smiley)? I like the idea, but would feel much better about simpler rules
  13. I'll still get 20 cans (good ones) for $3.00 each and wouldn't mind taking away some of the bad ones - I just don't want to buy any damaed cans.
  14. At these prices I can take $100.00 worth (50 of them)
  15. I'm willing to buy a bunch (20 or so) if somebody puts a buy together again
  16. I've got several non-trackable coins willing to trade for any trackable coins with unique icons. Please let me know if there is any interest: 1. 18. If we do another group buy - I'll take 20
  19. Just received this answer from Groundspeak......This was what I was trying to do all along I guess I just didn't put it together correctly. Yes. provided that you do not allow any logs on the coins by people that did not find the cache. This would cause the coins to be locked. Groundspeak, Inc. www.geocaching.com
  20. I just want to be clear on this.... If I remove the log numbers from the logbook (which I already have done) and put in a replica of the missing coin (which I also have done) and I don't share the numbers in the log book or in the cache (other than the replica) my cache is good to go? Can I attach my replica to the cache container so that it stays in my cache (like welding a coin to an ammo box)or use a goal of not leaving the cache?
