  1. excuse me what is ham radio ive heard of it but dont know what it is
  2. this same thing just happened to me i started from a park and started walking down a trail because i read an article stating this is the cities new land reserve so i went ahead and hid 2 back there well turns out i wondered a lil to far without noticing so i used my land use map and found out this was considered a small city farmstead so i know where the guy lives and according to the cache finders the no tresspassing signs were just placed i hope to settle this out soon even if it means archivement im ok but this is a lesson to all to make sure you know where you go i would recommend a land use map.
  3. ad bill bill bill... i can look like that before christmas!!!
  4. i want a green jeep i think Groundspeak should sell them for now i will have to use hot wheels but seriously if i were to steel somthing i would only want one of the item i would have taken luckily im not that kind of person goes agianst 10

  6. the mn dnr just allowed geocaching in state parks and they do allow geocacher to partake in the adopt a river program
  7. i am going to start a new trend no one has metioned. Adopt-A-River. this program is put out by various states Dapartment of Natural Resoarces dapartments. it requires 2 years of service anually about every month or two excluding winter you will be cleaning up the shores of water bodies. this program is similar to adopt a highway. i would consider it safe and many locations are avaliable as the program hasnt fully kicked in and is unheard to the public but its there and the best part is YOU PICK THE LOCATION!!! let me hear how this sounds and what other CITO possibilities await us. Minnesota DNR Adot-A-River
  8. i see no one has mentioned my idea for a cito i may not be old enough to hold one but heres my idea to the rest of you. i did a phone interview with the head of the MN DNR's Adopt a river program i told him about caching and he never heard of it well next day he sent me an email talking about how the mn dnr has just allowed it in state parks but then i asked him if i could do a cito cache with your program and he loved the idea and says it would also be a bonus to keeping geocaching up in state parks and we would be on the dnrs good side. well i know that other states do adopt a river i just dont know which ones but if you log on to your states dnr page you can look up the program this is a major convieniance because its not just rivers its any body of water the deal is a minimum 2 year project with cleanups anually about 1 or 2 months apart maybe excluding winter
  9. hey i ran into some of those bags in film canisters labeled they sure have traveled a long way but thier not tb's i still got one i think

  12. i do a lot of dense caching mainly because i have no way around other than to walk or bike gets kinda hard when geocaching is illegal in your favorite county park that takes up half the town. yet i do like quality caches and you dont see to many i try to look for stuff that i find might interest people such as the base of our town founders farm no one knew it was there when i placed the cache or the nicest park around or an extremely good camo by when you find it your third time around you wonder how you missed it. although i like to find creative containers like my first cache an easter egg hunt its excellent for the kids but i have come into times where i get out of hand usually in the summer when i have nothing to do and i start hiding like crazy in one day when i only wanted to hide one good one luckily our cache reviewer will remind us when we are getting a little out of hand i will most likely change my ways of hiding once i get a license soon
  13. My bro and i are in high school and at our school we have an elective class called Minnesota Outdoor Connections. this is a great class even though i havnt taken it my bro says we work with gps's and by the end of class to get your credit you need to do a outdoor recreation activity out of the teachers recomendations geocaching is 1 of them so ill be helping my bro get his credit soon but my sister also has a gps 101 class included in her tech ed class where they will learn about gps's and geocaching. all in all since i started in this forum a lot of new gps classes are popping up. but lets try to keep this activity to the trustable i dont want a couple local muggles picking me off even if thier my class mates
  14. cemetary caches creep me out hey do you know Y they put fences around grave yards? because people are just dieing to get in well anyway ive seen a few old ones if they are in a cemetary they usually arnt disturbed like anything else in a grave yard. ive done a few benchmarks in grave yards. plus arnt cemetaries private property?
  15. i am going to bud in on this conversation to ask if any of you with 210s know how to get the batteries to charge i have energizer rechargable batteries in it now and in the help section on the gps says how to charge it but its not getting to me im doing somthing wrong but i dont know. any help would be great
  16. once agian i have a 210 and it came as a kit so i got mapsend topo 3d usa with it and it helps me with loading geocache points but there also was a geocachingdisc with my gps kit that i could download geocache points that i checkrd the box next to and hit download. i cant do it on my own computer because its windows 98 but i can do it on my dads xp
  17. yes i have a 210 and i bought mine as a bundle and it came with a disc to install that had a progrm that manages your files so i decided to mess around with it on summer break because i had filled half my memory so i clicked on i think it was manage pois and up came this note pad document with all these numbers so i thought how in the world am i supposed to delete these things by deleting them off this well i did any way i trashed all the pois i found by just backspacing all the numbers and letters in each rowhtat had the name at the end of the pois that i didnt want and i did a file save and i unplugged my gps and instead of 250 points taken up i had 40!!! i cant belived how i figured it out. well anyway ihave a question of my own to other 210 owners i need to know how do i recharge the batteries ive tried because in the help folder on my gps it said i could but it wont chargeany help would be great.
  18. get the 210 its a good deal a little hard to get the street maps on there because you have to save it on your computer hard drive first but i love my explorist its my most prized posetion
  19. i dont have a lot of money you may guess why so i stay cheap explorist 100 last christmas pretty nice gift and explorist 210 had to build my grandpas deck for that money
  20. ive got an explorist 100 and a 210 yes pc capability is xtremely helpful my first gps the 100 was a christmas gift and is was very easy to see at night the backlights red if thats a problem now the other gps's i never heard of much and what ever happened to the geckos they like dissapeared from the shelves but i have used a garmin etrex in geography class (we actually did a geocaching game and i won then he asked if i was a geocacher and turns out he is to.) well anyway the garmins ive seen last longer but maggelans can do more for the money expecially the 210. ***watch for the chrismas and after christmas sales!!! best time to buy.
  21. i got my 210 about 4 months ago when it was rated top on amazon its dropped now and the gps map 60 has risen to the top but i am indeed satisfied but i need some help getting it to charge. i read in the help section on my gps and it said i could charge it with rechargable batteries but it hasnt seemed to work so im asking if anyone knows how i can get this to charge its using 2 energizer rechargable batteries now
  22. my parents were just up there in northern mn during the storm winter caching is perfectly capable and is somtimes funner its more challenging when it comes to terrain and is harder to find i prefer winter caching but the trails sometimes give it away
