nothing in the post ...
Well thats odd...
OK so my question is recently I have seen a Pantone set with 301 Metallic Colors. I'm wondering if any other designers, minters or anyone else happens to know if these colors are useable for coins? I was told about a dozen or so are for pathtags, but I don't know which ones as of right now. Has anyone used a Metallic color?

I have searched and searched and searched and still have not found anything new
-
Now I am real interested in getting the first one. It's a mailbox right?
And thanks for puttin my name on. Can't wait to see the final product.
The first one was round and had a stick mailbox on it. The second one was in the shape of a postage box (US)

Who can tell me what the symbols mean first? The 5 shamrocks are easy, but do you recognize the other ones? Who said that quote? Be the first to get them all correct and you might get something extra nice in the mail someday soon!
OK Chris, let me try this again.
Symbol: The Chinese Good Luck Knot - means good luck.
Symbol: A Swastica (Nivens Tablet, The Four Forces of Fate) Wind
Symbol: The Five Good Fortunes Wealth, Health, Longevity, Love, and Virtue
Symbol: A Horsehoe
Symbol: Gibo Auja
"We make our Fortunes..." Quote is from Benjamin Disraeli.
"Fortune Favors The Bold" is from Virgil.
Letters intersperced within the design spell out PROSPERITY
I think you're thinking to hard on the origin of the symbol. I'm looking for the meaning of the symbol. Particularly what it "pictures". You can almost see it just in the shape
Hopi, Navajo, Niven all expressed 3 common elements. 4 Times/Seasons, 4 Directions and ...
But Niven wasn't a people, he was a person who discovered the tablets. The people he referred to were unsubstantiated (if I read it right) he called the people Mu, from the lost Island of Mu. I think what your getting at however is four elements? Earth Aire, Fire & Water. The swastica could resemble a windmill meaning wind, but from one translation I found
NIVEN'S MEXICAN STONE TABLET No.1231This symbolises the four great primary forces issuing directly from the central creator. Each force has an arrowhead showing activity from west to east indicating the circular motion which occurs throughout the universe. The four forces as manifest in our solar system are:
1. A propelling force from the Sun to carry the Earth along her orbit.
2. A repellant force from the Sun to prevent the Earth being pulled into the Sun.
3. An attractive force from the Sun to prevent the Earth from flying out of the Solar System.
4. A magnetic force from the Earth that has an affinity with forces 1 and 3.
This last force is different for each planet, and enables them to maintain their respective orbits around the Sun.
it would be closer to ether, the element of space. I guess the horseshoe could be Earth. but so could the rune. I'm officially confused. I think each symbol could easily represent more than one element, if that's what your going for.

I can't get my head around the letters on the outside, between the symbols...does it spell something?
PROSPERITY

I think I have a BIG question here to ask . . . yes and ligit.
. . . And this place was chosen, and why ?
How was this place chosen and Who chose it It seems like last year, there was a discussion as to where GWVI should be held, Hmmmm, I don't recall anything like that for this year?
Just wondering
Well, this is just a GUESS, but considering that Geowoodstock is "owned" and "founded" and "invented" by JoeGPS and he lives in the Nashville area, it would make sense. It's nice to see it go back home.
After chatting with Billy today I am already psyched for this location. The entire town will be GW7. That's awesome.
I'm excited and I haven't spoken with anyone on the phone

And now you have FOSTIEEE on there twice ... #23 and #41.
I can't imagine the patience you must have...!
Thanks for pointing that out!
And I have a 2 and a half year old!

OK how about the Four Forces of Fate?
That's my translation from this:
NIVEN'S MEXICAN STONE TABLET No.1231This symbolises the four great primary forces issuing directly from the central creator. Each force has an arrowhead showing activity from west to east indicating the circular motion which occurs throughout the universe. The four forces as manifest in our solar system are:

The Stone of Fate or the Tablet of fate. Was it not Nivens Tablet?
-
I'm going to go with ELTADA on the last one:
The symbol in the top left is a pair of scissors (often related to changing fate)..even with an "f" worked into it!The last one was the hardest for me to find, but then I came across this It looked runic to me when I looked at it first so I got out my own set of runes but they are just letters, next I tried runes for the number 7 then I finally saw this!It was a lot of fun searching though, I could probably name about 20 lucky symbols now!
-
Didn't know they'd been posted until Frozen Buns called me last night to ask how long they'd been up! I was a bit surprised, but it's been a long time in the making and the first coin I've ever done with a full 7 elevation layers in the design
Now comes the fun part...
Who can tell me what the symbols mean first? The 5 shamrocks are easy, but do you recognize the other ones? Who said that quote? Be the first to get them all correct and you might get something extra nice in the mail someday soon!
The Chinese Good Luck Knot - Seen at approximately 1 O'Clock
A Swastica from Niven's tablet number 1231 at approximately 4 O'Clock
The Five Good Fortunes at 6 O"Clock (These five good fortunes are: Wealth, Health, Longevity, Love, and Virtue.)
A Horsehoe at 7:30
Gibo Auja (A Runic Symbol for Luck) at 11:00
Now if only I had a larger image to see some fo the finer details! Thanks for the fun Chris I love this coin, but then again, I LOVE every coin you make!!!
-
I think my name has disappeared from the coin. I was down as DJSnarg. Maybe it's just my tired eyes?
No Worries, I still have you on my list!
-
Please if there is still room for 'gardengorilla' I haven't been on any coins yet!
Your on this current draft!!!
All other recent asked for names have been added to the list. 3 spots remain then I'll put names into a "waiting in the wings" group

Please! And Thank you! I know we cannot afford anything like an Embassy Suites but a Ramada or Holiday Inn could be doable. We usually stay at Motel 6, Super 8 or Econo Lodge but could upgrade if affordable. The most important thing we look for is, of course, High Speed Internet! (and a clean comfortable bed and a working toilet & shower...)

I don't know anything about the hotel, never stayed in one before, but I was able to reserve 20 rooms at the Scottish Inn for $45.23/night, additional info is on the new yahoo group! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Geowoodstock7info/

As far as the whole internet thing...it's nice if they have it, but we live if they don't. There's always another hotel or coffee shop nearby we can pull up next to if we need to use it that bad.
We were inquiring about a chalet/cabin that sleeps 10 near Bell Buckle. We have since declined it because it had no internet and we need to stay on top of business correspondence during the week. If you are interested in getting a few people together to share a place in the country check out Liberty Gap Chalet. A few folk have been inquiring but I think it was still available yesterday. I wasn't able to get references from them either, which is unfortunate, but maybe a local cacher knows of the place and can endorse it or steer you clear.
I was looking for Cabin rentals too, but didn't find too many within 30-45 minutes. If you know of others let me know!

Happy Birthday Karma!
I've only met her/you once at GW5, but I have heard lots of fun stories from Dave who says he adopted you as a nano triplet!
-
Would love to see Buttwieser on there!! If possible, would like to add a request for my brother-in-law, who is active Military. His name is Stungbythebug. Thanks
Stungbythebug is already on there, I'll add Buttwieser to the list

So is Murfreesboro about a 20 minute drive from the event, Billy? I think that's the best area to stay in since I have driven through it and cached there a time or two. It's a nice area, rich in history.
According to Maps on Yahoo it's 27 minutes...now if you drive like I do, that's probably closer to 10 (note to self, don't describe car here just incase there are caching cops!) I'm about to start making calls to that area now...yikes!
Yeah I talked to Billy on the phone just now. I really like that area too. Nice for caching and accommodation's.
Would it be better (and easier) to create a place for all this info, like a yahoo group or something? I don't want to overstep the geocoin forum bounds.
I made a group just to be on the safe side...

Any guesses on how many I should be asking about? 30 rooms? Last time I did this was for my wedding...

Now to answer some questions...
If you don't see your name on this 2nd draft, but it was on the first draft rest assured I still have your name. I started the project over and changed the template a bit, so while the first try I got 87 names on it, this try I got 106. This still and probably will be changed. Anyone who has seen the previous versions knows that the names are pretty small, I don't want them too small. I'm sending this draft to the mint to see if it is currently too small. So no worries, I will get you all on there plus the 40 extra I just asked for. I will do my BEST to keep your names fully visible. I can't always group you together with people you want to be with because I am trying to fit names into spaces that are available.

After a couple searches it looks like Murfreesboro has the best bet for Hotels. I found 25 hotels. However most of them, form the sites I accessed, will not let you book that far in advance...
