  4. Hi Folks, If anyone who was at Northeastern Autumn Event and obtained a TB and has, as yet, not grabbed them from the event page please do so as I would like to archive this page. There are still four TB hangers on Ta Moss
  5. Just to let folks know that the Northeastern Autumn event is in a week and that the two caches to find the event are now active.. And of course a bump up the list..
  6. How do folks feel about the short logs of TNLN TFTC? If you took the time to set a cache then surely you should expect at least a log of a few sentences. On about on the web page not the actual log in the cache. I do try and waffle ( that being the operative word, and I am full of wind so I have been told !!!) a bit when logging a cache. It must be a bit disheartening, especially for young cachers who are just up and comming to get.. TNLN TFTC!!! Has the art of communication been taken over totally by abreviations and acronyms. Lets be verbose.. an waffle a lot.. better waffle drivel than nowt
  7. Any takers for this event???????????? if so could yer log yer intention on the event page .. ta
  8. Hi dqc808, Have a go at Angle of North.. its quite easy and will get yer going.. Don't look for micro's yet as they can be a pig to find.. I would sugest caches that are out of inhabited areas until you get the nose and feel for things. Moss T
  9. Welcome aboard marra.. If you want to get to meet some folks I have set up an event for the 11th November. This will give you an oportunity to meet some of the other cachers in the area. As for Alistairs list.. Angels View View is not so easy.. you need to be able to project a bearing and I know the 12 doesnt do that so I would scrub it offa the list. Moss T
  10. With Moss it's a matter of principle. Come come Gents.. I aint the phantom micro planter of ole Newcastle town I prefer me ickle pot.. small eneough to hide an big enough fer swops..
  11. The two pointer caches will be left as traditional caches after the event Moss provided they meet the guidelines Heres a chalenge for you mate, use Ammo cans and not micros I aint using either lol lol little placky boxes.. and of course they will meet the guidelines.. I helped write em remember. Just cant get the staff yer know ooooooooooooooooo meeeeeeeeeeeeeowwwwwwwww deftly withdraws claws

  13. Hi Folks The meet is now set up Here could those wishing to attend please show there intention on the web page so I can get an idea of numbers.. Ta.. you can email me questions .. wether you get the answer your expecting is a different matter.
  14. Going to close this thread and open a pucker event thread.. Ta fer talkin. Seems one can not close one's on threads any longer .. so if any of our elustrious admin are watchin.. but a sock in this thread me ole marras.
  15. Is it practical to take the train to the event and find the caches on route? If so, what it the approximate distance? Ps. I will do a turn, but only if you promise not to throw things at me . Sorry Alistair it isn't really practical to do it by train.. you would have about a 4 mile walk from the station.. but if yer up for it I'll lend yer me boots Hi Magpie.. Welcome aboard. There is no need to worry, I aint about to make anyone do what they don't want to, so come along, have a chat and meet some of the best cachers you could ever hope to meet MT
  16. The cache page is now awaiting approval.. And I HAVE been taking note of what has been said. So the is now on a purely voluntary basis. So you can all breath a sigh of relief, but I have obtained a rather snazzy double barelled persuader. The two cache idea stays but will be easy to find with a maximum of a 100 yard walk if not a drive by. But then again this was always my intention. Moss
  17. I thought it was because every place yer thought about settin a cache had an SAS trooper in it
  18. I know some one else who is Guilty as charged.. aint SHE Mrs M
  19. Aint it a shame when folks seem to moan that you have to cache to find an event.. then want to just sit an waffle.. let yer hair down fer pity sake.. is a laugh and if you can't laugh at yer self then who can you laugh at.. And who is going to know apart from a bunch of wacko's looking fer plastic boxes.. weired!!!!!!!! As it is still early days then there may be changes.. we shall see.. Moss
  20. Hi I use a Garmin 60csx.. brilliant. As for topo.. the Garmin UK topo is no replacement for your paper map, they are sorley lacking in detail, Memory Map and a PDA do a good job though.. but that being said they are all only as good as your batteries. When I'm out in the wilds I still take my paper map and compass. I do use the SMC contours on my 60 which are an asset but still no replacement for a good ole OS map
  21. I'm thinking of an event for early/mid november. You will need to find 2 caches to find event so yer can log 3 caches just for the event alone... now for the cruncher.. I was thinking that any cacher who attends will have to do, as we call it up norft, a turn.. Be is a song a recitation a poem.. funny or serious.. This just to add a slant and a bit of fun to the occasion.. What do yer recon, would you attend if you HAD to stand up an make a fool of yer self to log the event. Comments.. an keep em clean, there are children watching Moss
  22. Congrats to Jess me 4 legged friend on finding 600 caches.. sniffed out with help from Disco the TB, and of course Graham and.. er er er Oh aye.. Daniel.. and the hanger on Mandy... Seriously.. well done to you all.. and I will catch up.. Moss T..
  23. I think the term is "letting your hair down" and the kids love it as they get away with things they wouldnt at any other time. It's much better when you can do some thing with out worrying about yer kids at night because they are in front of you with the torch. Even the bears have fun
  24. Got a problem with the rubber gasket on my Vista C and I've had exactly the above response from Garmin. Unit was only 13 months old when I contacted them by email and was told I'd have to pay the repair charge. I politely pointed out via email that is was only just out of warranty and they should consider a repair free of charge. They have not replied to that email and it is completely impossible to get through to them on the phone (just their recording saying you are in a queue!!). I am in the fortunate postion of having a free legal aid service from my employer so I clarifed the details of the Sale of Goods act with them and I'm in a strong position on that one as the act states that something must work for a reasonable time - and 13 months is not reasonable! So if I get no response from Garmin it's a solictors letter to them next! Lets be honest.. It's out of warranty.. the things that Garmin do they don't have to.. so you jump in with yer solicitor.. next thing yer know.. every one pays.. Have to look at the broader picture
