  1. They are coming, should be in the mail by the end of the week.... Please be patient, we are working as fast as we can...
  2. Well, those are the important ones! Anyone else have the first 3 or all 4?
  3. I now have the complete set! Thanks Jon!
  4. Check out the Delaware State Geocaching Web site, we are adding new information for people just like you! www.geocachingde.com
  5. The state of Delaware is working hard on making this happen! We have over 100+ coins that will be placed in caches soon. We are going to put one coin in every state and some other countries in the next couple of weeks. Detailed instructions are attached to the coins requesting that they are not kept and returned to a cache ASAP. We are going to follow this up with a release program for the DelUgly within the next couple of weeks. We are really hoping this will help reintroduce the Geocoin to the Geocache. Wish us luck and follow the coins by watching the Geocaching account "Delaware Geocaching." One coin has already been released.
  6. Hey Webscouter, you'll want to update the Needed list: Remove - Wisconsin (you have it listed now) Add - UK, Delaware, Lighthouse, World of Geocaching, Long Island This is Delaware's
  7. I don't see why people actually buy these coins on ebay. NONE of the proceeds go to the cacher who created the coin. I don't think this guy even has the coin. This comes directly from the sale page. "The two clearer pictures are of a similar coin off of the internet. The actual coin you are bidding on is the unclear pictures taken with a cameraphone." Give me a break, this is a hoax. We should all boycott this sale. 2Dolphins
  8. There is hope on the Delugly front. We are working on a plan to sell these coins as we wont be able to keep them in caches if everyone wants one. One solution we are working on is that you could be allowed to buy one coin and you get 2. One that would be unregistered that you could put in your collection and one coin that we register and you put in the cache of your choice. We will keep you posted on this, but first things first lets get the regular coins to you guys ASAP! I hope everyone is as happy with these coins as I am. 2Dolphins. I have received some email about this Delugly sale being part of the Grand Experiment. It is not. Our plans to spread these coins to caches is already in place and was basically laid out before we ever took any orders. The proposed sale of the Deluglies is in response to the need of keeping the demand down for this coin so we can accomplish our goal of coins in caches. In fact we had very few Deluglies made as part of the Grand experiment. Most of the coins that will be in caches to start the Grand Experiment will be Standard edition coins. The first coins to be mailed out will be part of our plan to have one coin placed in every state and some in other countries. All of the initial coins are Standard edition coins as we did not even come up with the idea for the Delugly until after this plan was in place. The people doing this initial distribution have already been contacted. Right now your best chance at seeing (not owning) a Delugly is watching the local caches around your area for the new Delaware icon in the weeks following the initial distribution. When you see it, hot foot it out to the cache and log the travel coin (you will have to place it in another cache so others can see, hold and log it.) The sale of the Deluglies is an idea that we are just kicking around. It will not be part of this order and would require an additional coin order from us, so for now, this will not happen until we are done with the current distribution/sale. This should come quickly as I know we have enough people now interested to make them. We will keep you posted, and thanks again for all the interest. 2Dolphins, Delaware State Geocaching Club Treasurer

  10. The coins arrived early, just thought I would send out a picture for everyone who paid for theirs and is anxiously waiting. We are going to process the coins and hope to have them out within the next week. Takes a bunch of time to tag and bag these as well as get them to the post Office.
  11. Delaware ships mid December. The coins will be shipped to us on December 1st. Once we get them we will package and ship them. We are assuming the coins will take at least a week to get and then a week for us to process and send out.
  12. Ok, this is the last on this. I hate for people who have over 600 feedback to be wrong, but you are. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/end_early.html There is the link, read it yourself. As long as you don't wait until 12 hours before the close of the auction, you are within your right to end the auction.
  13. I am not talking about canceling the auction, I am talking about ending it early.
  14. As a seller on ebay you can ALWAYS stop an auction. They would not revoke your account, you still pay the fees from the sale when you stop it, so they don't care. I know a lot of ebay people and they do this all the time.
  15. I am not speaking for Moun10bike, I am speaking only for myself as a geocitizen. Taking advantage of Jon's good nature so you can profit is wrong in my opinion. You have what you were after, enough money to mint your coin. Anything more is greed in my opinion. Regardless it is obvious that Jon wants the coin back or he would not bid on it. Everyone knows from the shill bidder that he is willing to shell out $1000 bucks for this coin. Do you think it is fair to extort Moun10bike in to paying for your tribute coin? I just think it is a shame that a geocacher has to pay to get his own coin back. Not only does he not profit from your sale, he is going to be the cash cow for slaughter. You do what you want, it is your conscience, and we can do what we want and choose to boycott the sale. This is just not right! This is only my opinion and thid is the last I will say on this matter as I think this is getting too heated for me.
  16. I hope you blocked him as a bidder for the duration of the auction. Yes - he was blocked immediately. His words, after bidding like crazy: Normally, I don't post this kind of info, but behavior like this is just dumb. Why not just end your auction early and just sell the coin to Moun10Bike. You have enough money to mint your coins now.
  17. Indeed. I have put my Moun10bike Version 1 coin up to fund the making of some memorial coins for my brother who was killed at sea in October of 2000 while flying his F/A-18C Hornet. The Auction goes live at 4:00 PST Nov. 15th. All proceeds will go to the making of the coins and they'll be placed everywhere from Kansas to Utah and Arizona. I had originally contacted Jon about this and he said it was my choice so I'm going to go ahead. It's hard to part with a part of geocoin history, and I do have mixed feelings about it, but the idea of selling one coin to produce others of a memorial nature make it worth it to me. I totally disagree with this! I think it is insane that people try to profit from this kind of thing. The expense of this coin was Moun10Bikes alone, how much does he make off this sale? Nothing. I am glad that Moun10Bike is trying to buy the coin back but it is insane that he will pay more for this coin than he paid to have the first 200 coins minted. He should have been offered the opportunity to buy the coin back at a reasonable price. Absolutely Crazy!
  18. Closing this thread as well. Thanks to everyone for your opinions. Be on the watch, DelUglies will be coming to your town soon! 2Dolphins
  19. Closing this thread for the time being. We have enough orders until we get the coins. At that time we will be probably have a few more coins for sale. We will reactivate this thread at that time. Thanks to everyone for your interest. 2Dolphins.
  20. We are going to do the "Grand experiment" any way around the block. We will have a lot of coins that WILL be placed around the world regardless. We are just trying to see if there might be a way to achive our goal of keeping them in caches and not see them get stolen.
  21. Hey everyone, As part of the Delaware Geocaching Club's "Grand Experiment" we created a coin that we hoped would stay in caches and travel around the world. Our thinking was that if we made the worlds first intentionally ugly geocoin, activate it and place it in caches that it could be successful in staying in caches. The problem is that we have opted NOT to make this coin for sale or trade. We had figured that no one would want this coin as it is going to be very ugly but still trackable. Were we wrong in our assumptions? Should we offer this coin for sale some time in the future? Should we stop second guessing ourselves and just see what happens? What do you think we have to do to achieve our goal of creating a coin that will stay in caches and not get stolen? What do you guys think? Regardless of what is said in this thread, the experiment will go forward, there WILL be DelUglies and standard coins activated and placed in caches around the world as part of this experiment. We have an obligation to the people who bought the Limited edition coin and we will keep it. We are just looking for some feedback and suggestions on what you think and what you think we should do to help keep these coins from being stolen. Any and all comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks, 2Dolphins.
  22. If you did not get a limited edition coin, we are going to have some more on the site later today. We are going through the orders today and removing any orders that violated the 1 limited edition coin per household rule all orders by these people will be removed and refunded. We will also be clearing some bogus orders that have no information with them and no payment from PayPal. If for some reason you ordered more than one limited edition coin accidentally (and then paid for both thinking cool I will get 2), you should send email now with an explanation because we are going to remove all orders by anyone who has done this and those coins will be back up for public consumption. This is only fair to the other 200+ people who have followed the rules. We are not profiting from these coins and don't want to see anyone else doing so or hording our coins. (NOTE: If there are 2 orders with 2 addresses and the same PayPal account was used to pay for both this is not a problem, we know we have a couple orders this way and have no problem with it.) If you know you want a limited edition and have not ordered one please send email to me at jefflundstrom@gmail.com and we will put you on our wait list. Thanks! 2Dolphins
  23. We will see how this goes. After all this is just an experiment to see if what we do here helps our coins stay moving in caches. Maybe if someone was to start a "Free the Delugly" campaign we would consider selling this ugly, misunderstood step sister as a unactivate collectors coin. But for now, if you take it out of a cache and don’t put it back in another one it is like stealing a travel bug. Who wants to do that, not me. We are open to any and all suggestions, but it won’t be part of this sale that is for sure. We are knee deep in orders as it is, and the logistics of this is a lot more difficult than I had imagined from the onset of this whole process.
  24. 12am Friday the 11th, the moment you have all waited for is finally here! The Delaware State Geocaching Club is now accepting orders for our 2005 coins! Visit www.geocachingde.com for the full details and ordering of the coins. For those of you who would like a little more information without going to the web site let me introduce you to the 3 Delaware coins that will be seen around the globe soon! First the Queen of the family (The Limited Edition) An all gold coin with Silver mixed in the state and other parts of the coin. It is a Gold/Silver coin (kind of like the Canadian 2 dollar coin) There will only ever be 300 of these first edition, limited edition coins. These babies are going to be worth something some day soon. We are limiting purchase to one per household. These are a little more expensive than what most coins are priced at, but the proceeds are going to be used for our “Grand Experiment.” Our Grand Experiment is that we are going to attempt to put goecoins back where they belong, the geocaches! We are doing this by taking the extra profits from this coin and buying more of our other coins to be activated and placed in caches around the world. These coins will be activated under a geocaching account Delaware Geocaching and then sent around the world to be placed in caches. To do this we will be sending these coins to some lucky people in different states and countries for placement. We are hoping to get at least 200 coins that will be use expressly for this purpose. Due to preorders we are down to under 50 of these babies, once they are gone they are gone forever. Second is the Princess (The Standard edition) This is the coin that I think will be the most traded. There is going to be a limited number of these coins, but there should be enough for most people to get at least one. This coin is like the limited as it is Nickel/Gold and should look great in any collection. This one is priced on key with other coins that have been released, and any extra money from these coins is going to the Delaware state Geocaching club activities. Third is the Ugly Stepsister (The Delugly ) This coin is not an never will be for sale and won’t be worth anything to collectors. We have intentionally made this coin as ugly as possible so that it might stand a chance of seeing some miles in caches everywhere. Prepare your eyes, for in the near future you might have to see one of these as you move it from cache to cache. These coins will be distributed (as well as a few of the standard edition coins) to caches around the world. This is the end result of the “Grand Experiment.” You can get a lot more detail on this ugly sucker on the web site. So there you have it, the complete Delaware State coin Collection, come and get it! Please, feel free to post to this thread after you purchase your coins from the web site. Once again, here is the address: www.geocachingde.com
  25. This is an excellent idea. Then you can keep the coin in your collection and also use the travel bug number to allow it to get some miles! Very cool.
