  1. We have all the Delaware Geocoin codes and ID's. If you purchased a geocoin from the Delaware Geocaching club, I will be happy to retrieve your number. We were against using any 2nd party place for code activation for a couple reasons. 1) These sites are not secure and are not guaranteed to be around for the life of the coins. 2) I see this as a conflict of interest, the people doing the code hosting have an agenda, they want to sell you more coins. Do you think it is free for them to setup your codes? If someone buys a coin from our club they should not be subjected to the whim of a coin seller to activate their coin? We painstakingly labeled and matched every coin we shipped. Our club will handle all request for coin activation numbers, we will verify that the coin ID is assigned to the person who is requesting the code. (ALL the coins came with the activation code right on the package they came in.) If you sell or trade the coin, you need to make sure you have the activation codes (or get the codes from us) to give to YOUR customer, it is not our responsibility to provide service for your sales. We don't want people who are not the owner of the coin doing an activation on that coin which will cause a devaluation of the coin. (We have some experience with this, it was not pretty.) 2Dolphins
  2. Hey everyone, I have been working with a local Catholic school that is interested in starting Geocaching in their science curriculum. The local public schools have been given money by the state to purchase GPS units for this purpose, but unfortunately the Catholic schools can't justify the expense. The school will provide a tax receipt for the donation. So, I thought I might place a post on this topic to give people a good place to donate their used GPSers. If you need to get some cash for your unit and are willing to sell it cheap, the Delaware State Geocaching club is going to be setting up some charity auctions to get money to purchase some units as well. Thanks, 2Dolphins
  3. Anyone know if they changed how personal travel bugs are working? I have one of our coin holders using there Delaware Geocoin for tracking personal miles. They have logged in and out of a few caches, and the coins is showing no miles. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=273254 Did the system change? 2Dolphins.
  4. Hey everyone, We have recently been inundated with email messages from people who have purchased or traded for Delaware Geocoins and were not given the coin activation number. Should we give these people the activation codes or do what we have been doing which is request that the original owner send us email requesting the code. Our concern is one of security, what if someone sees a coin in someone’s collection, remembers the number and then asks us for the code to activate, how do we know they are legit? I am just interested in everyone’s opinion on this, is this happening to everyone else who sold coins? 2Dolphins
  5. Delaware 2005 Geocoin 300 Limited Edition 980 Standard Edition 120 DelUglies
  6. The Delaware Geocaching club is going to send a DelUgly coin for the cause. This coin is very rare as it is part of the 3 coin set for 2005 and there were only 120 minted, NONE have been sold or traded as of yet. I will also send one of my personal Version 1 2Dolphins geocoins that I just bought back from someone who was holding it. I really think this is an excellent cause, please send me the address to send the coins too. 2Dolphins
  7. Well, as for my coin, I am out of coins for trade. There were only 100 made in September of 2003. This is the first cache to receive one of my coins (First 2dolphins coin placed!). I rarely traded coins for anything other than other personal coins. (Hard to find 100 people with their own coin minted in the past..) Moun10bike was the first person to get one of my coins. So, although they were pretty easy for people with personal coins to trade for in the past, until I make a version 2 (not sure if that is going to happen) I can't make any more trades..
  8. Codes are on the coin packages. Go to www.geocaching.com and enter the code from the coin and the activation code from the label on the package. If you lose your label let us know and we will lookup your activation code.
  9. Chris, We will take care of you, don't worry. 2Dolphins
  10. Excellent, it is nice to see people finally get the coins we worked so hard on! Enjoy!
  11. Ok, figured out who this person is. His name (has been removed by moderator), have no idea of his geocaching name. 2Dolphins Now it is totally out of control as more have appeared on ebay. Let me explain that I don't care if you sell the coins once everyone gets theirs, but to sell them before everyone gets theirs causes me great grief. Also anyone using my pictures will be reported to ebay directly as I have given NO ONE permission to use my images of the coins for ebay sales.

  13. And then what, out comes the public lynch mob? (shaking) And no, it wasn't me who listed it on Ebay! Yea, that would make me feel better!
  14. Guess I have to move this to the whining thread! <vent> Ok, we started sending out the coins on Monday and most people have not even received their coins yet, and some yahoo already has one up for sale on Ebay. Could they have waited until everyone got their coin before they did this? It was obvious that this was the intention of the guy who bought this coin from the start. People, have a little respect for the people who worked tirelessly to make this happen and give us a chance to get everyone a coin BEFORE you decide to sell yours! My inbox is already filling up with "Ebay has theirs, where is mine!" mail, thanks a lot! I hate ebay! </vent> I will find out who did this, and when I do, I will let you all know. Every coin we shipped is tagged by us, we know who got what coin.

  16. Thanks. that is a good idea but I think I would be concerned that the coins would oxidize in the air. I think it is time for me to get out my wood tools and create something custom. I am closing this thread. Thanks!
  17. We have over 70 coins poised for release in all 50 states and other countries. Bookmark this page and you can follow to see which coin gets the most miles and is the most active. This way you will know which state it is safe to release a coin in. http://www.geocaching.com/track/search.asp...c5-58de6c95c69f
  18. I am frightened at just the thought of looking for a cache in Iraq! That gives a whole new meaning to bush wackin'. Be careful...
  19. Yea, I will double this gripe!! We mailed most of the Delaware State coins on Monday and Tuesday and not one is listed in the Mailbox thread! Darn it, come on USPS get these people their coins so I can see our coin in the thread!!!
  20. Hey everyone, I am looking for a unique cool way to display a couple of the coins in my collection on the wall. I am not looking for a big display, just one that can hold 2-3 coins max. I thought about framing them, but then you can’t see the back. Any suggestions? Thanks, 2Dolphins
  21. I agree, where is the Hawaii Geocaching club! Make us a real coin, I want one. Also, what about US Virgin Islands, I want an official coin from there too...
  22. When a group creates the state coin, they are in effect representing the state that coin is signifying. So when something goes wrong, like poor sales planning, people are going to blame the whole state and not just the person who had the poor judgment in this case. This is why we (The Delaware State Geocaching Club) decided to make the Delaware Geocoin from a group of people not just a single individual that is looking to be paid for their work. This is a hobby, not a cash cow ready for milking. If you are going to make a coin for your state, be prepared to give a lot of free time away as it is a costly undertaking in that aspect. If you love what you do, you wont miss a thing, if you are looking to get paid for your time, you would be better off coming up with a another venture. I feel that we as a group of collectors should be careful what State coins we buy and buy only the coins that are backed by state clubs. They are the best people to reprosent the uniqueness of the area they live. That is just my opinion, I may be wrong. 2Dolphins
  23. I agree with the crux of Cavscouts comments here but this might have been a personal attack, so I don't want to get to involved.
