  1. https://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?pq=9c990fcc-289c-4f51-9d10-96a7731e9aa2 When I select “placed”, the first page displays just fine, but all subsequent pages revert to “nearest”. Selecting “”placed” on any subsequent page reverts to the first page.
  2. My “premature generation” problem appears to have been fixed. Thanks😄!
  3. The latest fix seems to have cured all the problems except one: regardless of the day of the week I pick to generate the PQ, it is generated immediately upon submission. Latest example: https://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?pq=83b6b55f-5569-4066-a244-a5be3a9f7186 As you can see from the attached picture, I chose it to be generated next Tuesday. However, it was generated immediately after I submitted it, a few minutes ago today (Wednesday).
  4. Also, selecting “Placed” in the query does nothing; I.e. the caches are still listed by distance from origin, not time/date placed. Here is screenshot of the latest query.
  5. standard PQ, and selected types = cache types. I’m including everything except events, but events get included. Latest example: https://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?pq=d98ab160-907c-4a5b-a8fa-44d86f517b57 , generated just a few minutes ago.
  6. For the last week or so, whenever I create a pocket query, my specifications concerning Days to Generate and Selected Types seem to be ignored. Regardless of the day of the week I select to generate the query, the query is generated immediately after I hit Submit Information. And regardless of the types I select, all types are included. My latest query is: https://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?pq=e667fc55-0226-4ec3-8d1c-dbb65157aa11 I submitted it about a half hour ago with Wednesday selected as the only day of the week to generate, but it generated immediately.
  7. Nothing since yesterday, and I have several hundred active on my watchlist and a dozen or so bookmark lists.
  8. Whoa. As of a half hour or so ago I'm getting bizarrely formatted notifications with the same sort of email Subject: "Bookmark Notification: Gorilla Stash (GC1B) has a new Found it log from Behold The Turtle" "Watchlist Notification: A Tribute to Glenn (GCWAG5) has a new Found it log from Strike One" "Watchlist Notification: Broken Arrow (GC19E76) has a new Found it log from wynnsisters" The formatting of these notifications is driving my mailbox nuts. Any way to receive good old unformatted notifications, like "So and So found ThisCache"?
  9. "All requests for photographs must be optional." - from para. 6 of the Earthcache guidelines. Does this apply to caches other than Earthcaches? Specifically, Virtual caches? If so, why is this explicitly stated in the Earthcache guidelines, but nowhere else? If not, why not? Does it have to do with grandfathering of Virtuals, whose descriptions can still be changed? Does this only apply to photographs of the geocacher claiming the find, or to all photos?
  10. Thanks! Trying GeoBucket, will see how that works on my next expedition.
  11. I love pocket queries. Unlimited pocket queries is probably the major reason I became a Premium Member many years ago. Normally before I start my caching day I gen up two queries, one for the 999 closest active caches I haven't found yet, the other for the 999 closest active caches (found or unfound) containing trackables. I download the queries to my Windows laptop, run GPX Spinner (I love it too!), then transfer the html's and associated files in the resulting cache folders to my old but conveniently-sized HP IPaQ PDA. Then I hit the road, with my IPaQ, my GPSr (GPSMap 76CSx, plus a Nuvi in the car to get me in the general area), and my smart phone (the latter is almost superfluous, since the coverage out past the black stump is practically non-existent). That's a lot of hardware, but they all fit nicely in hand or pocket. Note that I do NOT download files directly to my GPSr. I have several reasons for this. One, I don't want hundreds of caches which I may be interested in today, but not tomorrow, cluttering it up. Two, I don't want to use up valuable space already taken by caches I have on it for important reasons (like obsession ). Three, of course I get suspicious about viruses...but I'm absolutely paranoid about downloading a virus to my GPSr. Nothing gets into my 76CSx unless I hand-type it in. Fast forward to present day. I got an iPad mini for Christmas. I am learning to love it...I must say it's impressive. But the !@#$% thing won't load pocket queries! Don't know why...I assume it's because it's an Apple machine and doesn't like .zip'ed files. Assuming I get around this problem somehow, my next question is whether there's an app something like GPX Spinner for an iPad. Can anyone help me with these problems? Am I just a hopeless dinosaur staving off extinction?
  12. Chirp is an amazing device which allows Garmin and fairly rich geocachers to render the 76CSx which we got a few years ago for $500 completely obsolete.
  13. Same problem here; today's PQ's apparently ran, but nothing showed up to download...
  14. We're vacationing in central Europe (mostly Germany but some surrounding countries) this autumn and plan to bring our Garmins: a 76CSx (w/standard 128MB) and a nuvi 260w. The existing map coverage for the area on both units is pretty coarse. Is there any resource for finer maps for either unit? The Garmin site doesn't seem to hold out much hope. I'm assuming I may have to upgrade the memory on the 76CSx, is that true? Any other advice on Europe with regards to our Garmins?
  15. Two years ago we went to Aruba and wound up finding all 14 caches then present on the island in two days. Then, the next day, we were surprised to see a newly-published cache! Guess who got FTF! If you go to Aruba to geocache, be prepared for an experience much like caching in the Southwestern USA. Much of the island is dry, desert-like terrain with lots of rocks and boulders and cacti aplenty. Turn your back to the ocean and you'd think you were in Arizona. Most definitely wear sturdy hiking boots. You should probably also pack sturdy gloves. You could conceivably hike to any of the caches, if you have LOTS of time and stamina! However, you can get pretty close to all of them in a vehicle (just make sure the vehicle has sturdy tires; 4x4 might also be a consideration although we had an ordinary rental compact). Best experience for us was definitely Haystack Aruba (GCM93D) (there are stairs...a LOT of them).
  16. Try accessing www.geochecker.com . Or, alternately, go to any geochecker link from any cache page that has one. Anyone else besides me seeing "This Account Has Been Suspended Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible." ?
  17. SPROINNNGG!! Looks like the logjam just freed up! 50 new emails in the last couple of minutes! Thanks to the Geocaching.com Elves, whomever you are.
  18. I haven't received any notifications, or Watchlist messages, in the past several hours. I sent myself a personal message through geocaching.com and received it, though.
  19. Well, here's something odd: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...23-9dd7ce653c30 The date's almost the same. Athens isn't really that far from Florence. But "Welcome to Athens" isn't under any bridge. In fact it's kinda back in the woods with a lot of trash strewn around. Someone would have had to be really picky about it. Odd though, two geocache-related bomb scares so close together in time and space.
  20. I guess you heard about the dyslexic reindeer who sold his soul to Santa?
