Absorbed into other budgets. Same thing will happen when they talk about toll roads. "It will save the public money". No it won't. The tax for all roads will remain the same and on top of that, the toll road will collect a toll. It's worse if they privatize them since you now pay the tax, the toll, and profit. Plus since they normally make toll companies "buy the road" you will also pay for the purchase of the road that you already paid to build. The boost the budget gets from the "sale" of the road will get absorbed and just go away. Kitsap county started threatening to close its parks so the public voted for a tax increase. What did they do with the extra tax dollars? They took all the janitors who worked at the court house and gave them new uniforms and and put them on the parks payrolls but their jobs did not change at all. They still clean the court house.

I'm glad I never bothered jumping through all the hoops to hide a cache in a State Park.

I'm more worried about BPA in all the dental fillings I just got.

I agree, they charged more then I was willing to pay for the service. I would have been happy to pay $3.00 to use it all day.

I can't sew worth a dadgum but I did manage to hand sew extra pockets onto my backpack to get it just the way I like. I have two elastic pockets on each side and a gaint one down the back.

Yeah caches are not allowed in ONP but ONF has a lot of caches in it.

The road to staircase opened yesterday but staircase is still closed and there will be no access to trails until thursday.

Anything by Coleman is good and the price is nice too. Anything by Ozark trails is leaky junk. My one Kelty tent was junk too. If you want something really nice and durable you could try what I have, it's a Eureka tent made for the military and for guides but it is not and ugly camo color.

The vast majority of my track logs are saved in my mapping program in a .gdb form. Can you use that type of file? I don't know how to turn those tracks into separate files.

Shouldn't that be the rioting Geoducks? LOL! I could say more, but it would just get into politics and I don't want to go there . It is actually a lot more conservative then I expected. The kids with dread locks don't care about politics at all for some reason they are not motivated to do much of anything

If you visit my blog you will see pictures of the track log from every hike I have been on in the past year.

There is no logic in that at all unless you hate kids. My point is the effect it has on kids is the same it has on adults. Something cool looking they would have never seen before. Sure, but I've got over 100 high quality hides and I'm not about to play Santa Clause for every geocaching adult in the region. Cache swag always degrades over time. No one complains to me about the fact that I only put toys in my lowland hides. Local cachers really appreciate the fact that I am always placing new caches for them to compete to be FTF on. Local cachers with kids know my caches will be loaded with kid swag and they appreciate it. I just don' t see any local adult cachers that are hung up on swag. I'm sure some are and I think those are the ones who take all the good stuff and leave a load of trash behind. My mountain top caches tend to have a more adult theme but I still don't load them with expensive swag.

As a geocaching woman who hikes through mud, thrashes through thorns and climbs cliffs for fun when I'm not geocaching, I don't think smelly candles are the kind of thing I'd be looking to take from a geocache! However, I would appreciate a tape measure, they always come in useful! p.s. smelly candles make me sneeze. Heh. I knew that'd get a response but I think you see what I mean. I am a man who likes fruity smelling candles (berries and apples). Flowery scents make me get a headache. You must not give good birthday or Christmas gifts eh? It's not a matter of what people want but what people don't realize they would like until they see it and go "Oh Cool". Logically you shouldn't even leave kids toys as their folks could probably afford them. I'm kinda curious now. I love the hunt. I see others love the hunt. Some are treasure seekers. So how and when did geocaching begin? (Please no "well you see, sailors and pirates were using longitude and latitude coordinates as early as 200 b.c. near ancient symiria" answers). I mean, was it a hi tech treasure hunt or was it just a "Tag, I found the mark" type deal? There is no logic in that at all unless you hate kids.

Oh, I missed that. Good point Nami Yeah it's far better to leave the kids in the car.. sigh Not all parents can get time away from their kids. There are a lot of things that kids don't like to do, you can not let your kids run your entire life. I pretty much only put toys in my hides. I figure if adults want stuff they can go buy it. I don't trade swag unless I am with my kids. My kids love to trade swag and my oldest one is much more motivated to go caching if they think there will be good swag. For my youngest I sometimes bring swag and pretend it came from the cache we just found.

Frisbee'r had cement blocks in the back. A few days later I went back in my jeep with new studded snow tires and loaded up with firewood but got the same result. It is wet heavy snow. Here is one of my favorites taken the day I hid the "Three Old Trees" cache
