  1. Well, it looks like the Tenn-Tom froze up, so my ship did not come in today. The suspense is just killing me! I don't have a black dog anymore, just 2 yellow labs. I'll trade you 2 short blonde hairs for 1 bi-color cat hair.
  2. Nothing in Madison Mississippi yet. You must have put it on that slow boat and sent it down the Tenn-Tom waterway! Please Hurry! Please Hurry! Please Hurry!
  3. Aaron has always replied promptly to my emails, even when I did not expect a reply back. I experienced the mayhem along with everyone else last night, and left thinking this would be one set of coins I would have to do without. When I returned later in the night I had a message from Aaron saying that the site was up and working, so I was able to get the coins I wanted. Thanks a bunch, Aaron! Now, maybe I will be able to trade one of my extras for a gold 2006!
  4. Lol! I actually did that with some WJTB's. I had put 3 in my first cache when it was published, he scarfed them up and placed them in his caches, I promptly gathered them back up and put them in other caches. They all got dispersed before he could get them again, but it got a few laughs around here. He now accuses me of having an obsession for Jeeps (True ). There is a WJTB sitting in a cache I have found that he hasn't. He won't find the cache and I won't discover the Jeep because we both want the other to break down and go for the Jeep first to prove who is really obsessed!
  5. This guy, probably not. I've never seen him place anything on ebay. He might keep one, but would most likely place them in his caches to generate more traffic.
  6. Yeah, I did that for most of them, I only put one coin in a new cache when I was FTF. Even though I did not log all the drops, this individual managed to hit pretty much every cache in the area, and subsequent finders never mentioned any coins in their logs. One friend of mine did pick up one of them, and I did as was asked, so as far as I'm concerned, it's all ok.
  7. All the coins I had were released, and it appears all have been found, most by 1 local cacher who was going around behind me checking all caches in the area. That cacher never mentioned finding coins in their log, but subsequent cache finders never mentioned finding coins either. Of course, it could be that they are still there, no one here wanted one, so maybe you should hurry down to Ridgeland MS if you want one of these coins!
  8. Worth more than 1 coin? Wouldn't that depend on the coin? I was fortunate enough to find 2 GCF coins, and I gave the first one to Prntr1 in what could be said to be a trade for a set of his personal coins. Another friend said I was crazy because Prntr1 was going to give me the set anyway, which was true. Prntr1 was going to get that GCF coin from me anyway as well, trade or no trade, because he has been VERY supportive of me while I'm going through some tough times. You could say that GCF coin was worth 3 Prntr1 coins, or it was worth a small token of thanks for friendship and support. I say a GCF coin is priceless, but nowhere near the value of a good friend. That being said, I still enjoy watching the benefit coin on that other site, I would be interested in watching a trade or trades for a GCF coin, and I really enjoy all the stories of other GCF coin finders in this thread.
  9. Got it, payment made. Thanks a bunch! Great looking artwork, and I'm sure the coins will be even better!
  10. Well, I tried sending several e-mails asking to be invoiced for one of each coin the last few days, but never heard anything, so I assume they are all gone. Maybe someone will want to trade?
  11. Just received several of these coins, so they will be out in Ridgeland MS area caches shortly.
  12. In case you did not get my reply to your email, I want 2 of each metal. Thank you. Amagrud
  13. I would be in for a couple of each metal. I only have the copper ofthe v2, but it is a very nice coin.
  14. At a recent Scout training function, another adult came up to me, introduced himself, and told me how excited his 7 year old was to find one of my coin copies. They logged it on the state site (it was not trackable on GC.com) and watched it for a week or so. No icon, no real coin, but it still made the kid's day to find it and track it. The dad wanted to thank me for putting the copy out so others like his son could enjoy it. At the last local geocaching event I went to, a couple of young boys (and a few adults also) took my collection binder and had fun going through the actual coins, comparing the various finishes, weights, and generally just having fun playing with the coins. When they finished, they put everything back in its proper place and thanked me for letting them go through my collection. These 2 examples are why putting out copies of my coins works for me. I can share my coins with the people who enjoy finding something in a cache or getting the latest icon, and I can share them with people at an event. In both cases I am making someone happy and providing them some fun, and that is the whole point. If one of my coin copies goes missing, so what? I can always make another to put out, and I can still share the real thing at an event. I get more than 15 to 20 positive e-mails about my coin copies for every negative e-mail or post, so I think there are some out there who like what I am doing. There are people in the world who, if they were to find a $5 bill on the ground, would gripe that they wanted to find a twenty. If you don't care about the icon and don't enjoy finding a copy of a coin, just ignore them. I'm not putting them out there for you anyway. If you want the icon, enjoy the hunt for the cache, or enjoy browsing a collection, then I am willing to share what I have with you and I hope I can inject a little fun into your day. As long as my copies make even 1 young finder happy, I will keep putting them out. When the neysayers finally take all the fun out of this hobby, then I will quit.
  15. I finally traded for a couple of the big needs that I was concentrating on, the Geowoodstock III silver and the Connecticut Gold Bi-color. Thank you to everyone who has traded with me so far, it has been fun and you are all great! Since I have no outstanding trades at the moment, I'll try to get something new started before I go to Philmont next week. I'm still looking for a Geowoodstock III Bronze, and I know I may have to offer multiple coins to get it, but check out my traders, as I may have something you want or need. I have a complete set of Mississippi coins (regular, LE, and MO (members only)) that I will trade as a group for either a very special LE or another similar group (such as baby loggerhead set) or even some other multi-coin trade. Other coins I have available include Cache or Die Trying (regular and LE), Haughton's Hunters LE, Oklahoma Natives 2006 First Finders, Hoxie Scout, and NoleFan9399. My seeking and trader lists can be found at http://www.geocoincollection.com/cointrade/traders.asp under the name amagrud. Please check out my list and let me know if we can make a trade. Thank you. amagrud@mslawyer.com
  16. I don't usually spend much (any) time in the forums, but the geocaching side of the site was down, so I came in for a look, and WOW! I never thought something I did would get this much attention. I can hardly claim credit for being the first to do this. The first "coin" I found was a Pennsylvania copy, a very BIG copy. Personally, I was not disappointed at all to find it. After all, it was in a cache, I did find it, and after everything was said and done, I have the same thing from it that I have from the first "real" coin that I found, an icon! I am a geocoincoin collector, and I take my coins to geocaching events, Boy Scout events, and the like. I enjoy the pleasure that other people get while they go through my collection, pulling out and handling the coins. I do not supply a list of tracking numbers, and I ask that people do not copy them down, because all of my coins (all the trackable ones at least) have a copy out in the wild, and they will have to find it to be able to log it. By the same token, I do not log coins or TB's at events, but I will "discover" them if I find them in a cache and cannot help them with their mission or move them on. You can call me cheap or whatever you like, but I simply cannot afford to buy or trade for 2 of every coin that I want for my collection. Making the copies allows me to send "coins" out to travel while still allowing people to enjoy them locally. I briefly considered something like photos glued to a wooden nickel or a washer, but I did see the forum where someone sold such a replica of a moun10bike coin on eBay as the real thing. I want no part of that, so I came up with something that is very easy to produce, will fit in a wide variety of caches (even many micros), and could never be mistaken for or passed off as the real thing. While the title does not say "Copy", I try to be consistent, so if the coin is "Amagrud's ...(insert coin name here)", you can rest assured that it is a copy and not a real coin. When I drop a real coin (there is an abundance of real coins in Mississippi caches) I state in my logs that I am dropping a real coin. I started geocaching because I was curious about the sport or hobby. I have continued to geocache because it is fun and I am enjoying it so far. While I cannot speak for anyone else, it is the cache that provides 99% of the fun for me, not the swag, coin, or TB that I might find in it. A lame cache is a lame cache whether it has a moun10bike coin, a WJTB, or just a logbook. A really tough, interesting, challenging cache is fun on its own merits, and many times when I have found such a cache I have not even bothered to check and see what coins or TB's might be lurking inside, just being able to sign the logbook was enough for me. All of my coin copies state that they are placed in the cache to provide the icon and fun for the next person who finds them. If you find it, want the icon, and enjoy moving the copy, great!, I put it there for you and your enjoyment. If you don't like the idea, that is ok also, I did not put it out there for you anyway, I put it out there for the next guy. If you want to take it and throw it in the trash, that is not going to hurt me at all, because I can still take my collection to the next meet & eat and watch the smiles as people go through the coins. The only person you are hurting is the next guy that may come along and enjoy getting the icon. Personally, I think a lot less of the person who will trash a coin copy than I do of someone who would steal a coin, because the person who trashes a coin copy is willing to hurt other people without receiving any benefit for himself.

I prefer coins that are trackable on gc.com, but if you think you have something I may like, make an offer. Some coins that I am interested in obtaining (caught my eye): Delaware Nevada (desert geocaching) Idaho New Mexico Yosemite loggerhead (turtle shaped) - did not initially care for the design, but when I saw an actual coin, decided it looked pretty good. If you have a coin in my small list that you want to trade to me, or if you have something you think I may like, please make an offer. Thanks again to everyone with whom I have already made trades. amagrud@mslawyer.com

Also I MAY be able to get a couple more MS members only (copper) coins in a few weeks, but at present they are limited to 2 per member, so I will have to wait till everyone has had a chance to get some, then try to get a few extra. amagrud@mslawyer.com
