  1. I've relocated to N Cal, so I have about 10 easy to moderate caches in the Rancho Bernardo area in need of someone to take them over. They are all very close to Rancho Bernardo Rd & Pomerado. If anyone is williong email me at bjonesi@sbcglobal.net.
  2. I've read (but don't have any confirmation on) that it's done at Disney's Golden Oak Ranch http://www.billcotter.com/disney/golden.htm If so, I think this is the field they built the set on: oops the link didn't work, I'll try again but it's just East of Hwy 14 on the North side of Placerita Canyon.
  3. Just placed three caches in Rancho Bernardo, two of them were approved before I finished the third one.
  4. I've had my friend's hand me down GPSr for two weeks and gotten about 30 easy caches. Which only leaves locally the dozen plus caches around Twin Peaks. Is there one reasonable course that hits them all or do they need to be reached from 2 or 3 different directions? Is it realistic to try to get them at the same time? Any suggestions welcome. Also would the caches out by Lake Poway/Ramona be easier?
  5. I'm surprised there's been no discussion of the SD gimmick rallye last weekend here. What did people think? I enjoyed it, but there were things I'd like to see done differently next time. I have a half finished (A-B style) gimmick rallye that runs from Escondido to Poway, I'm willing to finish if there was interest. Are 3 or 4 geocaches enough? Are they neeeded at all? Would people be interested in a photo page? (Find the location the 4 photos were taken and give a GPS reading for score.) Is a restaurant finish alright? What's a good date about two months from now to schedule it? Anyone interested in helping?
  6. Another double post, it happens to me a lot on this forum ???
  7. At the risk of being off topic, (if that's possible here lately;-) I thought I would let people know about an event next Sunday. If you like Puzzle caches or Multi caches, or Multis that are really Puzzles, you'll probably like gimmick car rallyes. Don't know many details on this one, but you usually have an hour to read the instructions, about 3-4 hours on route and they usually finish at a restraurant. The cost wasn't on the flyer but it's probably $10-20 per car load. I plan on competing but don't know yet if I have a navigator or not. -------------------------------------------------------------------- What: San Diego Region PCA presents "THE ASPHALT JUNGLE" a gimmick (probably Question-Answer style) car rallye. When: Sunday, Mar 25th, 9:00-10:00 am Where: Start location: San Diego Zoo parking lot. More Information: Rallyemaster: ALYSON M. KELLY (858) 488-3697 Email: alykelly@juno.com web site: http://www.pcasdr.org --------------------------------------------------------------------
  8. Is a group thing in Kit Carson Park going to happen this Sat?
  9. Hmmm...it sounds like maybe picking a holiday weekend was not such a good idea -- at least if one's goal was to put together a group for Snakes and Ladders. Would it be better for folks if I put it off until the following weekend? I could probably do next saturday, if you postpone. TrailGators, could you use any company for "This and That" this Sat? Bill P.S. It looks like I'm in this sport enough to finally get a GPSr. I'm sort of looking at Garmin etrex Legend and Magellan eXplorist 300. I've used my frield's Legend, I'm not thrilled with the small display or rubberband button cover, but could live with it I guess. Anything about the Magellan I should know about? Any good sources for cheap units, other than take your chances with Ebay? Sure but I was hoping to be there when James was doing Snakes and Ladders. Let's see what shakes out with that. If James delays then I may go over to Daley Ranch to replace my missing puzzle cache and find some new ones that have shown up over there.... So your interest was primarily to kibitz? ;-)

  11. I would be interested in doing it on Saturday. (Sunday is the biggest race of the year ;-)
  12. Another double post. Don't know why it's happening.
  13. (Then again, I do remember awhile back that FlagMan was complaining that John&Jess's "TT Puzzles for Dummies" guide was undercutting his business...) Is this still available anywhere? ;-)
  14. That was really fun last night. Thanks again for arranging it, and to DAK Girls for creating the cache.
  15. I'd be interested, but not tonight. Any idea how much walking is involved? Bill
  16. If someone were to set up something like this in San Diego, I would be very interested in attending. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...fd-4fba96ba9c96
  17. It looks like where I went ahead and waited for everyone at an intersection is where we went off course.
  18. That would have been true if we had chosen the correct trail I'm still trying to figure out how far off trail you got to find Dragon Head Cache. I've actually been within a couple hundred feet of there, and it feels like I walked there today! ;-)
  19. Those folks to the north usually hang out here: http://www.socalgeocachers.com/ Good luck, D! Is there a reason why there's almost no SD activity at http://www.socalgeocachers.com/ where there's a specific SD category, and instead everyone's on this forum where its a broad US W/SW category? Bill
  20. I tuck a just-in-case set of NiMH batteries into the watch-pocket of my jeans. Just for the record, how many of you know what a "watch-pocket" is? Come to think of it how many of you know what a "watch" is nowadays? Harmon It's really a "pocket-watch watch-pocket" but I think most catalogs refer to it as a coin pocket now. I have Minerva decimal-minute stop watch which is the perfect size for the pocket, but I would never carry it there. It's probably also the only analog clock I own anymore, and I have to stop and think when someone says clockwise. Bill
  21. 2 This brings up the question: "Why aren't there more rebus Puzzle caches around here?"
  22. >Go ahead and send out the search teams, but, ya'll gonna die! What is it I'm missing regarding 'Navajo Adventure'? I've looked at Google Earth and it's only about 100' from people's backyards in both directions. Looks like there's a little altitude change but nothing requiring repelling gear. Bill
