  1. When I check off the caches in the list made using "Identify", and then click "Bookmark" I get this: Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'UserID', table 'GEO.dbo.Bookmarks'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'UserID', table 'GEO.dbo.Bookmarks'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated __________________________________________ I was able to add the caches one by one
  2. In my opinion a cacher can only be FTF if he/she found AFTER it was posted. Posting on GC.com is sort of like the "starting gun" for the race to a new cache. I agree. I'm for a new log type, instead of "Found it" -- "Know where it is" that will put a red check on the maps and lists, and doesn't increase your stats.
  3. Just go find one extra cache and it will cancel out mathematically.
  4. I've never needed it, but my ready response is, "I'm looking for air potatoes". Should be useful anywhere in Florida or Texas. If you're not familiar with them, air potato is an invasive exotic weed that overgrows everything that isn't already overgrown by some other invasive exotic weed. They form a long fast-growing vine with beautiful leaves and what looks exactly like potatoes all along them. I sometimes have a few in my pocket to show people if they're curious. I am very self-conscious about searching when muggles are around, especially when I'm alone.
  5. What proportion of your caches do you find on your way to/from doing something else, vs. those you specifically set out to find? What is the something else? 1. Work 2. School 3. Shopping 4. Hunting 5. Etc
  6. I'm glad this came up. I hid a multicache back in May and did not use the "additional waypoints" feature to report the coords of the intermediate stages. I don't even remember if that feature was available then. I do recall reporting those coords in text form to the reviewer. The cache was approved, but so was a new one yesterday, and when I looked it up (using easyGPS), I found that the new cache is less than 50 feet from one of my stages. I have since edited my cache listing and reported all the stages as hidden waypoints. So my question is, how are newly-submitted cache coordinates checked against established caches?
  7. Thank you, that did the trick. I had never used BBCodes in the forums, either, nor have I ever heard of them, so I appreciate the info.
  8. I have had good luck finding stuff out on my own, but this time I'm stumped. I figured out how to get HTML on my cache page, but the same technique is not working for creating a link in a note. I'm trying to reference a new cache in a note on a different cache. Can someone refer me to a FAQ or just give me the instructions?
  9. Don't forget previewing unpublished caches.
  10. GCQJW9 is a 27-stage multi nearby that I really enjoyed doing. 19 stages is not too long IMHO.
  11. I would also like to see an option to remove stats now that I see how people are making their numbers. But I would like to have the option of replacing the stat with a smartalec remark like "more than you", or "none of your beeswax".
  12. Could we expand on this? What about a hint when you're an FTF contender? It happened recently that I went with a friend to attempt a FTF on a new multicache. We made it to stage 3, had to break off, went back later, searched another hour, and other commitments forced us to break off for the day. The next day a local with over 2,000 finds logs it as FTF but states he called the owner on his cell for "nudges" on stage 2 and 3! I believe that contact information that is not publicly available should not be used. But hey, I know we are all playing a different game.
  13. I have no problem with people working together to solve puzzles. What gets me is when people call or email the owner for hints or help. Of course, I only know this because they write it in their logs, but still! For myself, if I can't figure it out (or if I don't have the boat, helicopter, ladder, or scuba gear) I won't go for it.
  14. You wonder what kind of training it will take to enable your four-year-old to hike more than four miles without complaining.
