  1. Well, I am not giving up, just not holding my breath for it to show up. Logged a good bit of distance on it though. Well here's to a prayer to have it show up.
  2. Thanks for the offer, Max Power has informed me the TB is gone from the cache! Never logged out, now location unknown. Bugger. Well, thanks for the help anyway.
  3. I know how you feel. My family's TB had a good run, from Toronto to California via everywhere in the middle. It was last logged in october. I got a note from the cache owner that the bug was gone. Apparently not logged out. No-idea who has him, we are all losing interest in gc. We had two caches completely stolen, from two different areas that were well hidden. You couldn't just stumble on them. So now to add to the stolen caches, now a stolen TB!!! We haven't cached in almost a year. Considering not doing it anymore. Not that it's fun, it is! But from the lack of manners from others that ruin either our own or someone elses cache.
  4. Hi all, I have a TB, Pinky Penguin that was placed in Minced Garlic around October. He's been stuck there ever since. I would just like to see him get moved onwards so the kids here can see him and track him. Minced Garlic I thank in advance.
  5. I need my tb rescued and moved on. It's Pinky Penguin and is in California since the 19th of october and has sat there since. I know it's not a huge amount of time but would like to see him on the move. He is currently in Minced Garlic cache.
  6. Yeah just checked the site and called as well. It appears we were both mis-informed. NT v8 is indeed available but only on sd cards at the moment. The DVD version will be release in Aug. This seems to be what Garmin was telling me as well the other day. If you want to buy it for 300 buck now you can or spend 145 or so on the NT DVD version in 4 weeks.
  7. I assume you are talking about the regular version 8. He and I were talking about the NT version. It's the same as the usual v8 but compressed to fit onto a device like the streetpilots and the like. These units have pre-loaded maps. It's a full map, not just little bits that you need. No, again, confirmed with Garmin Navteq and several gps sites selling mapsource. v8NT Will NOT be available until Aug. Even GPSnow.com emailed me and told me the same thing. I got my v8 for my gps18 today, NT version on hold till aug.
  8. I emailed Garmin on Tuesday that very question regarding my i5. They have informed me that the NT version 8 DVD will be made available the first week in Aug. If you prefer the sd card you may purchase it, or can wait for the DVD. The SD card in your unit and it just reads it like a hd, however the dvd version will copy itself over your v7 map data. Your waypoints, faves etc will be ok. My buddy used the Europe NT DVD for his and it just copies over the original data.
  9. My Streetpilot i5 has the detour option and it has come in handy a few times!
  10. I believe it is an ammo dump site.
  11. Hello penquin44 Go to our Frappr Map and contact the person that is closest to the cache. I believe it will be pbear23. This is most direct way to contact the closest person to your Travel bug. I hope it is traveling soon. GEO.JOE Yeah, still nothing. He did contact me and stated "He didn't know he needed the tracking number to log it and he was going to do it that day and it's now march 23 and I have not seen it logged or got an email back. I am afraid it's lost forever and I am new to this. He didn't tell me he would have it for this long. Did so, thanks! he got my TB on Feb22. However, it has not been logged as in his hands. He told me he would soon. However, it's been almost 3 weeks, what is the standard porcedure on this. I am new to this TB thing. Send them a friendly email thanking them for picking it up, let them know that you are checking on the status of the TB because they have not logged it yet. Sometimes life get in the way of good intentions so an Email should git you an answer. GEO.JOE

  13. True enough but according to some users above they have decided to start moving bugs that have been sitting for 4 or 5 weeks to get them on their way. I believe KiwiGary was doing this in his area.
  14. Reported: 02/12/2006 Traveller: Pinky Penguin Owner: penguin44 Last Seen: Peek at the Peak (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) Dropped off there on Jan 21, 2006.
  15. My TB has been stuck for over 4 weeks in a cache! It's in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Can anyone help?
  16. Last weekend my fiance and I here in Toronto did the 'Green with Envy' cache. Nothing too difficult with it, it was a great weekend for it. Last week in Jan and it was 13c! Anyway, we hunted for it around 10 minutes or so when I bent down to look at something and my cell popped out of my jacket and tumbled down the side of the hill about 10ft or so. I took one step and slipped in the mud which was covered by leaves. I slid and rolled about 40ft down and was stopped by a small tree. After 15 minutes climbing back up in my runners slipping everywhere, as I popped my head over the top of the hill, i was staring right at the cache! So I did find it, it just took a detour to get it.
  17. I emailed you ages ago. I was interested when the price was $370. You never got back to me.
  18. Same here, I have had my 4cell Mag for years. GF carries it, I use the mini mag which i keep in my pocket/ About a year ago, before geocaching we were camping and I tripped on a small bridge and dropped my 4cell mag into the small lake below, light was still on. We couldn't get to it that night, the next day we came back and couldn't see it at all. That night we went back and low and behold coming out of a thin layer of silt was a faint beam of light. We climbed down and waded into the 4ft of water to get it. Let it dry, removed batteries and it still works. no leaks, no broken bulbs! I love it.
  19. Well my cache was approved and thankfully people have found it. I didn't make it too hard considering the area doesn't lend itself to great spots.
  20. Sorry to confuse you all. Maps are all the same, lock roads is off on the laptop. I am using WGS84 on all. What I meant to say in the last sentence was, for kicks, we plotted my house as if it were a cache. We did this on all 3 units no problems. Kinda strange.
  21. Hi there, I just waypointed a potential location on my laptop Garmin GPS18USB. I have never had this problem. I marked the location, my unit was accurate to within 2.3 meters. I had a friend of mine with a new i5 and we discovered that my laptop marked us 58meters away from the location. We got out his trusty vista and that was correct. How can my gps18 be so off? They are all from the same satelites. I can accept 3 meters, not 58. That's almost 200 feet. When I plotted my house there weren't any differences in the 3 units. Just this location. Anything would be helpful.
  22. I am willing to offer $330 USD. It sells new for $424.95 here in Canada. Your price converted is $493.00 CDN. Plus I will have to pay canadian duty on it. 15%!!!!!
  23. Actually we just do our normal thing. People tend to let us be. Twice on our first 2 caches ever we were signing the log when about 3 people and a dog walked by. The dog came to say 'hi' and we played with him, the owner came by nodded and kept walking. We never try and hide or anything.
