  1. I have 1000 un-found caches on my Nuvi - which I load via a GSAK macro every now and again - use it to get to the nearest road then use my trusty old Yellow Etrex to find the box. The proximity alarm is useful and lets you know when you get to around 400m of a cache. The Nuvi stores the whole cache description, hints, etc. and the last few logged finds.
  2. is Hermanus close enough? The suikerbossies have one there!
  3. bearing in mind it is only vacation time in the northern hemisphere - down south we have our vacation during your winter, but then i guess there are more earthcaches in the top half of the world also.
  4. I had some problems with Norton and in an on-line session they removed a lot of my add-ons so my question is what are a few interesting and useful ones you are using. I use a Dutch dictionary and Xinha to put HTML in on a cache page. Interested to hear about some more
  5. Looking for Write area but it seems to have been removed sad! - so now using Xinha
  6. Bob I also had to change my Nuvi loading macro now use Nuvi_GPX_by_CT.Gsk - not an expert but it does the job and link to a discussion http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=21209&st=20entry200824 go well tom
  7. Leuk voor de toeristen om het in Engels te kunnen lezen, maar doe het ook in Vlaams voor de plaatselijke cachers.
  8. My virus detection program gave me a warning when i clicked one of the links!
  9. Oh Dear - this does not sound good - "No geocaching is permitted in high tourist destinations for example Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Boulders and Cape Point." Where else is there?
  10. There used to be few hanging around near Rhodes Memorial - don't know if they are still there?
  11. I use this one as well and it is great - the only problem I have is that when I get to 400m (set it up that way) it does not only ping once, but keeps pinging - any suggestions?
  12. Just spent a week in the Sedgefield area and found that I used the Nuvi to get us to the vicinity. The laptop with GSAK loaded with PQ of the area was used to load the Yellow Etrex with the waypoints and the Nuvi then on-site for the description and hint - found this worked very well and was totally paperless which was a bonus. Guess this could work overseas also - I had the advantage of being able to print wherever we stopped.
  13. Sorry Trev - still use mine and as you say essential!
  14. From the guidelines: - Listings must contain accurate GPS coordinates. You must visit the cache location and obtain the coordinates with a GPS device. GPS usage is an integral and essential element of both hiding and seeking caches and must be demonstrated for all cache submissions. Projecting waypoints from a specific location already defined by set of coordinates is permissible. For geocaches that include additional waypoints see the guidelines specific to those cache types.
  15. I was thinking the same thing - found the word used in just general conversation in Holland when I was there in July.
  16. I go with the pooks on getting a few PQ done before you go - this certainly helps if you have an idea of where you are going to be. I used my Garmin Vista with open street maps as you know you can route to waypoints rather than street addresses. But then I did take my laptop also with all the data of those PQ stored in GSAK databases to feed onto the GPS. Did okay for me - anyway Trev enjoy and don't sweat the caches!
  17. Would also suggest you go out and find some caches first (or as you call them geo thingies) before you go out and place your own.
  18. See post #71 You have to edit the script for it to work with Geocaching.com's "improved" web site. Thanks Don J - stupidly I did not check the date of this thread - I had already found this patch before and implemented it, but thought this was an update after the last Groundspeak update - thank you! Now all is well again.
  19. Okay - not a computer expert, but had the original of this script working until the update. Now I have firefox 23.0 (or at least that what it tells me) I updated greasemonkey as mentioned in the original post and installed the script as linked in the original post and nothing happened? Any suggestions will be appreciated!
  20. Can you direct me to this? I've searched and all I can find is the version from last year. ditto me also please! script patch. In my case it was more like line 102 instead of 95. again ditto - thank you for that!
