  1. Guilty as charged. But, I will not waymark every Subway, McD, Target, Wally World and Starbucks I pass. I have one for the grid. Now, if I find one that really catches my attention for some reason, and I think it is interesting, I might waymark my second. That said, that is me and what I am doing. If someone else would rather do those retail chains, and could care less about historical markers, cemeteries and gravestones -- that is perfectly fine with me. Like we said, do what interests YOU.
  2. May I suggest this -- waymark what interests you. If you are interested in Historical Markers, do them. If you are interested in cemeteries, you can do cemeteries, Woodmen of the World markers, Centenarians, Occupation and Hobby Gravestones, and some more, I'm sure. If you find finding barber poles of some interest, do those. Or, you could waymark all the stuff you can fit into categories of your town, show it off! Post office, fire and police station, city hall, parks, etc. That's the interesting part of Waymarking - YOU get to pick and choose what YOU think is a cool waymark.
  3. <snip> makes up his own rules. That'll teach us to post his name!
  4. no, I am just welcoming the new waymarkers. I didn't think I wanted to try to figure out how long they had to have between waymarks before I welcomed them back.
  5. Welcome to @fanninsda, and congrats on your first published waymark.
  6. I almost always use the short description for address and location info. Then use the Long Description for real info.
  7. yeah, a Duh moment for me. I rarely ever look to see who "Published" it, and don't think about that. Still, when reviewers send a message, it would be polite to sign it.
  8. I got a waymark approved. The reviewer asked my to make the web address clickable. I had missed that. No problem. But the reviewer offer to send me the html to do it if I didn't have it Nice, will you fix the Wiki link as it is not clickable. If you do not have a clickable link source (HTML) contact me and I will send you the one I use. View your waymark If you wish to view or edit your waymark listing, you can click on the above URL or use the waypoint name WM12xxx. Happy Waymarking! The Groundspeak Team Hard to contact them, as they didn't sign the message! As a non-reviewer, I would appreciate if ALL my messages had the reviewers name. I can't tell the reviewer that I fixed the link.
  9. the category descriptions says it should be measured in stories. I took that as meaning more than 1 story high, to be ginormous. It looks to me to be only about 1 story high. And, it is a big barrel, but it was built as a big barrel. So barrels ARE built that big.
  10. sounds like it is part of a Challenge Cache, visit certain lighthouses. Look for nearest geocaches to that lighthouse.
  11. If you have any questions on categories or anything, just ask here or in Getting Started in Waymarking. We'll try to help figure it out.
  12. you could work on Where's In A Name. South of Tampa FL or almost even with Corpus Christie, TX.
  13. Welcome to @outdoorsoccer, and congrats on your first 4 waymarks published.
  14. yes. look for Signs, do they have wi-fi (technology), history, recreation or parks, historical markers
  15. Welcome to @WW1HistoryBuff, and congrats on your first waymark.
  16. Like 99 said, Superlatives. Oldest, largest, etc. But I can't find anything for the big barrel now tasting room. I don't think it really makes it as a building.
  17. Usually, I see Extraterrestrial Locations and Small Town, Big Name.
  18. On 7/25/2020 elyob said: That reviewer may be an expert in only one category and that is why she is a reviewer there. She may not know anything about the category where your object could be submitted. it is up to you to research the different categories (and their strange rules). I always peruse the Newest Waymarks tab, just to see who is posting what, give me ideas. Many times I see where a certain waymark could be cross-posted in a different category. How would you all feel getting a Comment an a newly posted waymark suggesting a different category? Should I mind my own business?
  19. Welcome to @CardFanDubG, and congrats on your first published waymark.
  20. also, the reviewer is not required to identify themselves (and in my experience, they don't normally do it) so I have no way of emailing, and must use the PM box. But 99 makes a good point, using the PM Box makes the info available to other officers.
  21. I just did a second visit to Fort Sill military installation. When I first clicked the "Log It" button, it came up with a red note to say "You have already visited this waymark". But it let me put in a different date and comment, and accepted it. Both of my visits showed in the listing of visits, each with a different date. After checking that it worked, I archived the visit.
  22. I know of nothing that says you cannot visit more than once. Now - if you take it to a new level. The Walmart in Newcastle OK has been waymarked. It was one of my early visits, as I was living near Newcastle, and drove past that Walmart every day going to and from work. Many, many evenings I would get a text from the wife to stop by the store and get something. The usual stop was WM, as it was on the way. I went there 3 or more times a week. If I tried to post a visit each time I stepped foot in that store, I am sure the Waymark owner would have had my head on a pike. And I wouldn't blame them! It's a bleedin' WalMart! Now, if the OKC Museum of Art is having a special display of, say, Picasso art and I went to see it, that could be a reason for a 2nd visit. Or, if I went to the OKC Symphony last year to see The Nutcracker, and this year I go for Trans Siberian Orchestra -- those are 2 completely different visits. But even then, if I was a season ticket holder, I wouldn't post visits to every show I went to in the year.
  23. I wasn't saying someone couldn't post more than one visit. I haven't found a category that I thought a 2nd visit made sense. Wineries could easily be a good category for multiple waymarks. Many of the wineries will have a completely different selection 5 years down the road.
