  1. Thanks 8Nuts (Gary). I appreciate the help. I heard from Dingo262 in Boise who is also going to try for the sighting.
  2. I saw that, and that's why I asked. I'm not sure when I'll get back down there, but I'll look yours up.
  3. Congrats, Blasters. Did you get any new ones in SE OK this past weekend?
  4. I have written to folks in SE TX, Louisiana, Denver area, and Idaho. Have not gotten any positive responses. Does anyone know Waymarkers or Geocachers that may be willing to do this?
  5. not so far. Put out a couple of feelers to Waymarkers in the areas, got 1 reply that they are too far out of the area.
  6. I'm in Bethany OK, next to Hamquilter. Outspoken1 could work. I'll start looking at waymarks around Denver and Idaho and see if I can find folks around there.
  7. Well, let's try this one. This will be a pass from NW to SE. www.Heavens-Above shows it visible fron between Bozeman MT and Pocatello, ID, over Denver CO, Bethany OK, Tyler Tx and going into shadow just before Baton Rouge LA. Does anyone know Waymarkers (or Geocachers that would play) in the line of travel?
  8. it's a beautiful, clear night, temp at 68 degrees. Quarter moon . Got to see the ISS run across the sky. Well, now I know I can spot the darned thing when it goes over.
  9. I guess we don't have anyone that would be 1 minute away that wants to try. I'll still go out and see if I can see it, just in case someone else ends up saying they were also out.
  10. I'm pretty sure we've all made this mistake at one time or another. I know of 2 times I did it when they changed map programs on the page from Google to what we use now and the maps didn't show. Caught them a couple days after they were approved while browsing my waymarks looking to see what needed work. Not a big deal and easy to correct.
  11. OK everyone. The track for Nov 27 still looks great for a sighting. The ground track in the US goes from Del Rio, TX over Oklahoma City, OK and it goes into shadow right over Springfield IL. Anyone close to a line between these cities could get a sighting. If we can get "players" from Del Rio and Springfield, anyone in between should be 1 minute from someone. Can anyone else do this? Do you know any other waymarkers in the areas that could do the sighting?
  12. A waymark is a single location (usually) of some interest (at least, to someone). Many are historical locations where a traditional geocache would not be allowed. The main difference between waymarks and geocaches is that geocaches want you to locate a "hidden item". Waymarks are absolutely NOT hidden. There is a picture (usually) of what is waymarked, and hopefully a long description of why it is interesting. The write-up should make someone want to go visit this to see it for themselves. There may be geocaches very near a waymark. (There is a geocache just over a mile west of me in a city park. There is a category for "Municipal Parks and Plazas". The park could be waymarked and have the geocache in the park.)(But the park is not that interesting.) Will your GC group accept a waymark in their calendar?? That would be up to them.
  13. so you'd be more happy if it said "Heinz" instead? Don't worry so much about the name of the company. Look at the idea of the proposed category.
  14. to promote tourism (and vehicle usage, thence tire wear) Michelin has the site that shows attractions and restaurants to visit. Restaurants are awarded "stars" to show how good the food is (as in, "cuisine", not bbq or fast food joints). You'd be looking for chef prepared food (Gordon Ramsey or Bobby Flay).
  15. left click your mouse where the maps should be. This made them show on my profile.
  16. I didn't think I'd find a Kugel Ball. But on vacation, went to visit a fountain that was waymarked and noticed the kugel ball on the top!. One crossed off my "difficult" list.
  17. OK, if anyone knows some other players from Missouri and SW Illinois, we should be able to get a good multiple sighting. Thanks for the info, Mother Goose
  18. I'll be there with my towel. I think I have a diode or two for Marvin.
  19. I'd rather get the waymark denied than get this message
  20. drink a Bischoff Hefe Weissen for me next time you are down there. Or better yet, mail me a case! :-)
  21. military installations. I was stationed at Ramstein AB when Hahn closed. We were sent over to get some of the equipment for Ramstein. THat would have beem between 1990 and 1993.
  22. that's great news. I hope it gets accepted. I, for one, am sorry "we" couldn't be of any more help. I know I went thru the entire listing of waymarks a couple of times, trying to see if I thought it might fit somewhere, and came up empty. Now, reading the additional comments, one problem was that I couldn't see exactly how that was made. It looked (and still does, for me) like it was a metal sign with the lettering painted on. I see I was incorrect (not the first time, not the last). But as I said, good to hear that you may have found a good home for it. I agree that if I had seen it, I would have photo'd it and been looking for a category, too.
  23. that's what I was thinking, also. But may go to Structures, but Tech/Comm seems a better fit.
