with management like this, we are doomed.
Look, if you aren't going to do your duties correctly, then resign as a manager.

maybe an idea for a new category -- Recreation - Sports Multifarious.
In my area, they have started making Pickleball Courts - which would have the same problem. When I was in school, we had a Flickerball Field - think Basketball-ish goal, played with an American football, absolutely NO CONTACT. Played a lot like Soccer, lots of passing, not much running with the ball.

Cool!!! Keep on keeping on, Lee!!
BTW, have you figgered out how to use the map?
I had been using the map for a couple years, trying to figure out if there were disks I could try to find (I wanted a disk for my first find, the rods just aren't very photogenic). But thanks for the hint, in case I hadn't known.

AlRight! I have my first posted US Benchmark waymark. Now, I'm doing research to be the first one in Oklahoma to post an Azimuth Benchmark. It looks like those are a bit harder to find. I'm also working on finding a real NGS Benchmark disk and a rod. Learning new stuff, collecting new icons.

Welcome to @BRISTOLIAN, and congrats on your first published waymark

The short answer is yes. They'll accept pretty much any type of "benchmark" style marker stamped with the USGS name.
I've not run across a Gaging Station disc, but they're included in the variables for U.S. Benchmarks:
Benchmark Agency = US Geological Survey
Monumentation type = Gaging Station

Cool. I found this "in the wild", as in not from any published data. I was looking at an old bridge, for Orphaned Bridges category, and saw this on it. I have tried (not really hard) a couple times to find benchmark medallions, and haven't so far. But I have a data sheet for one that is supposed to be near one of my recent waymarks that is close to home.

OK, new question.
As this is a USGS mark, not a NGS disk, can it be waymarked in the US Benchmark category?

Welcome to @Mugger52, and congrats on your first published waymark

I found this USGS Gaging Station Reference Mark on an old bridge. I don't see a PID for it. it's at 35° 32' 45" N , 97° 58' 10" W but it doesn't show on the USGS map (National Geodetic Survey Data Explorer (noaa.gov). Am I searching for the wrong thing, or in the wrong place?

OK, I don't know anything about benchmarks. But while scouting an orphaned bridge, I noticed this US Geological Survey Reference Mark.

We have a George & Vulture pub in London but as I am unfamiliar with the category I don't know if it is acceptable.
that should do. If you could email me a picture of the sign, and another of the pub front. And why don't you have a pint for me in remembrance of my 3 years in Bedfordshirel

We have threads for ISS Sightings and Where's In A Name. Does anyone need/want help with Your Name Here?
I know I have a pretty easy time with my first name (Lee), and have found 2 streets with my last name (Donlon) (only one with a picture, so far.) I have not found a sign with Vulture on it so far, so I'd be interested if anyone can help with that.
Here in OKC we have a couple businesses with the name Maupin, and I am working on getting the pictures for @pmaupin. I would be happy to research for anyone else having a tough time.

Every time I see @Mike_bjmpost a new waymark, I am split on his situation. The whole Isle of Man to himself -- but little chance of having ANY of his waymarks visited.

Thanks, Keith.

could be WWII memorials in that time frame

I am working on ISS Sightings with a couple of "virgins" about 10 PM Central time on May 14 and 17. Room for players in Illinois and Missouri.

I would do it as 1 waymark for the Memorial Park for all 3, put each plaque in a separate BlockQuote

Just to be clear with PISA-caching and GGMorton -- I agree with your statements, and believe it could go in either or both categories.
Max & 99 asked what we all thought. I believe the better fit is Citizen Memorial. If I saw it accepted in Disaster Memorial, I would have no complaints. I am sure that families and friends of the students killed and the school officials view it as a disaster.

from the category description:
Wikipedia defines a disaster as the impact of a natural or man-made hazard that negatively affects society or environment.
I cannot see where this negatively effected society. They haven't even changed traffic patterns at the school to try to prevent something similar in the future.
9/11 - changed airline security worldwide. OKC Bombing - changed security around government buildings (at least in the US). Titanic - changed procedures in ships (required a radioman 24/7, required lifeboats for every person on board, etc). Exxon Valdez destroyed the Alaskan ecosystem for decades. These make the cut for a disaster. My simple opinion.
Which category for this?
