  1. Have you tried looking them up on some sort of Platt map? I bought the Oregon chip for my gps for hunting season, and it shows land ownership. If you have any friends or family that do a lot of hunting, you may ask them if they have that chip.
  2. Hey all, my name is Scott, and I'm From Western Oregon. I spend a lot of time out and about, and originally got into caching after I bought my gps, to teach me how you use it while hunting/trapping. Now that my kids are old enough, we are getting into it as a fun family activity. We are having a ton of fun with it, and I'm hoping to get some fun caches out at some point the ed to my interests!!!
  3. Funny, I was just thinking about this very same thing this morning. My name on here is what it is, but when I go out caching, my family shares in the fun with me, so we sign the log Team Curry. I was wondering if this was an accepted practice, or not...
  4. I'm new as well. I just load them all in, and do them as a route on my GPS.
  5. Yeah, I ended up getting the 655T model. Seems like a great little unit, I just didn't see much of people using them for caching. For what those things cost, I'm gonna use it for everything I can, lol. when caching, are you mainly navigating on the compass screen? The unit I replaced was a Magellin 2000XL(I think that was the model), so it was quite a step up. I think the instructions on the 655T assume you are familiar with the Rino's.
  6. I can't find a link for a trial membership page, but I guess there's probably something on it on the edit membership page. Still not finding it
  7. What are the requirements for the free trial? I just picked up a Garmin GPS, and would like to give it a test drive too Got a linky?
  8. How many of you use Rinos for geocaching? Any positives/negative comments about them? Doesn't seem like a whole lot of people using them. Any tips/pointers for those of us that are? I Bought a new one, and have used it on a few caches, just looking for any pointers that help people with this particular GPSr.
  9. I usually just pull a "Watchtower" pamphlet out of my pocket and ask them if they have a few minutes to talk, and they get the heck out of there. :-)
  10. Hope you have fun! Would look forward to see if you decide to create your own geocache over time. Haha, I have already thought about that!!
  11. I would also like to remind everybody that trapping season is in full swing now so PLEASE keep your 4-legged geocaching buddies on a leash. I cannot believe how many caches are close to where I have had traps out. A few spots, I will actually not set anymore because of this.
  12. Hey Everyone, just wanted to pop in and say hi, I'm new to the geocaching thing, but am familiar with the gps. Just picked up a new Rino, and thought about doing some of this to use the gps for a little more than hunting/trapping season. Looks like a blast. I cannot believe how many caches are out there. This Rino seems like an excellent unit so far, and I can't wait to get it out there and stretch it's legs a bit!!
  13. Hey everybody, new to the forum, and just got the Rino 655T. I originally got it for a hunting/trapline tool, but plan to do some geocaching too.
