  1. Hi, I think the new-style mails suck. A lot. I don't bother too much about HTML vs. plain-text but my main point is: The "topic" line is way too long, so on smaller screens (mobile, table) you just see "Owner Notifiaction: CACHENAME (GCxxxxx) has a new "Found it" log..." and that's it. The old line was way better: "[Log] Owner: A_CACHER found CACHENAME". Much shorter and at the same time much more verbose at a glance. I seems like after the update style matters much more than usability... And why was the direct link to the log entry taken off in the new notification? Regards, GC-Team DerSchnelleLinus
  2. In case you find a fake log -> delete it. In Germany, there are indeed cachers focusing highly on statistics (we are German, by the way). Nevertheless, we don't know enough about other communities to judge the situation there... But basically it is the same for everybody: in case you feel the need to log a cache without visiting it on-site - we really feel sorry for you! Regards, GC-Team DerSchnelleLinus
  3. Hi, today, I faced a problem with Locus Pro when trying to use the Live API (e.g. for uploading field notes). Instead of logging in, a "oauth_error:key in dictionary not found" (or something like that) was shown. Same problem on two different devices. Did anybody experience the same problem? If so - did you solve it? Regards GC-Team DerSchnelleLinus
  4. Hi, Actually I did - and didn't see any (which I found strange, but anyway...). Do you have a link on the thread for me? Thanks! Regards, Jochen
  5. Hi, does anybody know any statements from Groundspeak's side if there will ever be a mobile phone app for Waymarking? The "just webpage" thing is kind of odd, especially when you are travelling (or your are out geocaching) and just want to do a quick check if any waymarks are around. I mean a very basic app would be initially sufficient - just read the GPS coords from the smartphone's sensor and display waymarks close-by. That's it. Online logging may be nice, but not necessarily necessary (especially as a "read-only" API for just retrieving waymarks is easier to implement on the server side than a read/write). Regards, Jochen
  6. Hi, I think it is a setting thing. When we try to download an already existing cache, Locus Pro asks what to do, thus no duplicates in the DB... Regards, Jochen (from the GC-team DerSchnelleLinus)
  7. Hi, I wrote a little piece of software called "pygcstats", which generates various statistics on your found geocaches. pygcstats works as follows: It reads your 'my finds' GPX-file (to be generated via Pocket Query) and builds statistics on finds, dates, containers, cache types, locations etc. based on that. Furthermore, since version 0.6., badges and awards can be added. pygcstats can be run via a local HTML-based user interface or via the command-line. The progam works completlyl offline, no network connection needed. Furthermore, as pygcstats is written in Python, it runs cross-plattform on Windows, MacOS and Linux (assuming you have Python installed). Last but not least: it's absolutely free, actually it is release under an Open Source license. Interested? Just visit the project page at launchpad.net/pygcstats where you can get the latest version. Furthermore, there's a link to the full documentation (English and German), which is available either online or as an PDF file. Regards, Jochen (from the GC-Team DerSchnelleLinus)
