  1. Seems to work. I haven't had a chance to read the articles, but is it safe to assume that when I enter the coordinates for the waypoint and then click the "needle" to go to the compass, that's for the coordinates that I just entered?
  2. Ever since our Garmin died, we've been using our Android phone with the Geocaching App, but I don't see how to enter the coordinates to show the cache's location on a map. I keep reading that it should work using Google Maps, but I haven't had any luck. When I solve the puzzle, I get 42 59.909 78 41.933 and I've tried to enter these, with commas, with the N and the W, etc., but nothing seems to work. Do I need to convert these coordinates? Is there a simple way to do this with the app or can someone recommend a different app to do this? thnx
  3. Thanks guys!!!!!! Worth a try
  4. Am I missing something here?
  5. We are trying to fill in the missing dates on our geocaching calendar while in isolation and have started a list with all of the caches that are reasonably close to our home. Problem is, since we started this list, some caches have been added to our area or were initially overlooked and I have no way to tell which of these available caches are already on my list and which are new and should be added. Is there a way to filter a search to only include those caches that aren't already on an existing list? Thanks!!
  6. I knew I'd hear that from someone! ? At this point, it's a challenge to keep it going without replacing it.
  7. This morning I found that I could only turn off my Oregon by taking the battery out and then I couldn't turn it back on. It seems like the switch went bad. I can start it up by plugging the USB cable into a computer, phone charger or spare battery. When I unplug it, it asks if I want it to stay on with battery power or turn off, so I say to stay on and it works fine. Kinda like a jump start. Other than carrying a spare battery with a USB cable to jump it, any suggestions? Thnx
  8. Good point. Maybe I was reading too much into the OP's question.
  9. I have a TB in a race and I like to see when it's been moved, even if it's only been dipped in a cache and not dropped off. By using http://www.changedetection.com/ I get an email whenever the TB page itself has been changed. The TB has remained with the same person for months and been dipped in hundreds of caches, but I never receive an email from Groundspeak.
  10. You can use http://www.changedetection.com Works fine, but you'll get some false notifications if minor changes are made to the page by Groundspeak, etc.....
  11. Of course I meant TB. dadgum auto-correct. Then again, a flat screen TV would also be cool!
  12. Interestingly enough, a missing TV of ours was just dropped off yesterday at a cache after 10 months of inactivity! There's always hope.....
  13. Good suggestion! I'll do just this shortly. thnx
  14. Good advice....it's close enough for me!!! thnx
  15. I think we messed one of our trackables up! We were traveling through Florida 2 weeks ago and dropped it off at a cache in Kissimmee, but then had to rush back home for a family illness. Today we tried to enter 2 caches that we'd found in Florida before we left and couldn't list our trackable as dropped off, presumably because someone had already found it and marked it as "grabbed it." Is there a way to retroactively drop our trackable off at the cache that we actually left it at? (Our options for this geocoin only show Mark as Missing or Recalculate Distance) thnx
  16. Hey, you're right!!!!! I've tried to figure that out for months.....DUH! thnx
  17. I have about 18 trackables that I've logged and when I go to the page that lists them, usually 3 or 4 show the distance and direction from my home on the far left column which isn't labeled. (IE: W 243.2 mi) (This is NOT the distance traveled!) Anyone know why the other 14 or 15 don't show that information??? It seems unrelated to time since registration, distance traveled, current distance from home, or anything else. thnx
